Obama administration “report” on climate change is deceitful, scare-mongering, bogus science

Suppose a company doctored data, misrepresented study findings, replaced observations with computer simulations, and hired PR flacks to promote its new “wonder drug.” News stories, congressional hearings, and subpoenas would be in overdrive. Fines and jail sentences would follow. And rightly so.

But the standards change when “climate catastrophe” is involved.

The White House has made global warming the centerpiece of its revenue-raising and energy policies. A House of Representatives 942-page bill would tax, regulate and penalize all US hydrocarbon energy use, to “save the planet from climate disaster.” The Senate promises an August vote.

But average global temperatures peaked in 1998 and since have fallen slightly, even as carbon dioxide levels continue to climb. Thousands of scientists say CO2 has little effect on planetary temperatures, and there is no climate crisis. Few developed countries are ready to commit economic suicide, by agreeing to reduce their CO2 emissions by a fraction of what the House bill demands for the United States.

Americans are beginning to realize the legislation would cost millions of jobs and trillions of dollars for a hypothetical 0.1 degree F reduction in global temperatures. Most put global warming dead last in a Pew Research list of 20 concerns.

The government’s answer to these inconvenient truths is simple.

Issue another report by government scientists carefully selected to exclude any who don’t subscribe to climate Armageddon. Ignore contrary data and analyses. Crank out more bogus computer-generated worst-case scenarios. Hire an activist media firm that specializes in environmental scare campaigns. And spend tens of millions hyping every imaginable climate disaster:
Rising sea levels, floods in lower Manhattan, California beaches permanently submerged. Ferocious hurricanes, floods and droughts. Food shortages, epidemic diseases, a quadrupling of heat-wave deaths in Chicago. Aged sewer systems convulsing from massive storm runoff. Wildflowers disappearing from Rocky Mountain slopes and polar bears from the Arctic. Leisure time gone, as people struggle to survive.

“Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States” is the “most up-to-date, authoritative, comprehensive” analysis ever done on how human-caused warming affects the United States, deadpans Obama “science” advisor John Holdren.

Actually, it’s the most flagrant attempted con-job and propaganda campaign in US history.

If it helps Congress enact cap-and-tax legislation, it will give activists, courts and bureaucrats control over virtually every aspect of our lives. It will enable them to confiscate hard-earned dollars, convert them to payoffs for activists and companies that get on the climate-crisis bandwagon, consign uncooperative companies and scientists to the ash heap of history, and conceal the exorbitant costs of restrictive energy policies – on families, industries, jobs and transportation – until long after the bill becomes law.

The bogus “report” conflates and confuses human activities and emissions with the powerful natural forces that have caused major and minor climate changes and weather anomalies since the dawn of time – from the Carboniferous Period to the Age of Dinosaurs, from the Big Ice Ages and interglacial periods to the Little Ice Age, Roman and Medieval Warm Periods, Dust Bowl and countless others. It relies on conjecture, conformist thinking and conspicuous elimination of contrary, skeptical, realist scientists and studies that do not support climate cataclysm conjecture and ideology.

The authors “largely ignored” critical comments to earlier drafts and made the final version “even more alarmist” than infamous UN “summaries” of global warming “crises,” says Joseph D’Aleo, first director of meteorology at the Weather Channel and former chairman of the American Meteorological Society’s Weather Analysis and Forecasting Committee. The report is simply “wrong on many of its claims” and marks “an embarrassing episode for the authors and NOAA,” D’Aleo concludes.

University of Colorado environmental studies professor Roger Pielke, Jr. says the report “misrepresents” his own work, makes claims that are not supported by citations provided, relies heavily on analyses that were never peer reviewed, ignores peer-reviewed studies that reach opposite conclusions from those proclaimed by the report, and cites analyses that do not support conclusions rendered.

“I didn’t notice a single recognized hurricane expert in the list of authors,” says NOAA Hurricane Research Division scientist Stanley Goldenberg. The report relies heavily on surface temperature data from monitoring stations located next to parking lots and air conditioning exhaust ports – falsely skewing temperature records upward – other experts noted. It is lead-heavy on assumptions, assertions and speculation – hydrogen-light on evidence.

But the most egregious miscarriage of science in this agit-prop exercise is its near-total dependence on worst-case scenarios conjured up by computer models. That’s where it gets its litany of “Day After Tomorrow” Hollywood disasters.

These climate models have never been validated by actual observations, notes Professor Robert Carter of the Marine Geophysical Laboratory at Australia’s James Cook University. Indeed, Australia’s own climate modeling agency (CSIRO) stresses that climate change scenarios are based on computer models that “involve simplifications of [real world] processes that are not fully understood. Accordingly, no responsibility will be accepted … for the accuracy of forecasts inferred” from its reports.

“Modeling results are interesting – but worthless for setting public policy,” says Carter. But that is exactly how they’re being used.

Sure, it’s conceivable that Antarctica could melt, and cause sea levels to rise 20 feet, as Al Gore and the government con-artists suggest. Greenhouse gases would merely have to increase average annual Antarctic temperatures from their current –50 degrees F to +40 degrees for a century or two, to melt 200,000 cubic miles of South Pole icecaps. A mere 90-degree swing.

That may be as likely as having the planet overrun by raptors and T-rexes cloned from DNA in fossilized mosquitoes. But it’s conceivable. And in the realm of global warming politics, that’s all that matters. As MIT atmospheric physicist Richard Lindzen observes, “global warming has developed so much momentum that it has a life of its own, quite removed from science.”

As one climate activist group put it: “The task … is not to persuade by rational argument.” It is “to work in a more shrewd and contemporary way, using subtle techniques of engagement. The ‘facts’ need to be treated as being so taken-for-granted that they need not be spoken.” The strategy is to treat “climate-friendly activity as a brand that can be sold. This is the route to mass behavior change.”

This is the kind of science, transparency, honesty and accountability we have come to expect over “human-caused climate chaos.”

If the congressional, administration and activist conspirators behind this massive deceit were in the private sector – peddling bogus drugs, rather than bogus science – they’d quickly become convicts. Instead of jail time, though, they’ll probably get bonus checks.

Dear Senator:

I respectfully ask that you vote against the “Cap and Trade” bill (The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009) soon to come before the US Senate. I am convinced the bill is one of the worse, if not THE worse bills to come before the Senate in its long history. The result of the bill will be higher taxes, higher prices on nearly everything the public buys, including essentials, high unemployment, and a geo-political shift in the nations of the world that would effectively remove the US from any leadership role for a very long time, if not forever. The bill is so badly disliked it is referred to, out here, as the “Destroy America Bill.”

Senator, there would never be a “good time” for this bill, but there certainly could not be a worse time in the history of our country to ram this bill through the House and the Senate.

I respectfully ask that you vote "no" on the Cap and Trade Bill when it comes before your legislative body in a few days. I can assure you, Senator; your constituents will be watching how you vote with more than casual interest. We will be watching to determine how we vote when next you stand for election. If you vote in support of the bill, Senator, my vote, and many, many, others, here in North Carolina, will not be cast for you. Your career as a US Senator may very well come to an abrupt end.

This is one of those times when an elected official is expected to act in accordance with the wishes of his constituents. Nothing less is acceptable.

I watched the US House, as it dealt with this bill, and it seemed to me the general electorate was far more aware of the contents of the bill than were the Representatives in the House. The Congresspersons in the US House give all indications of having voted for a bill they had not even read! That speaks volumes about the reliability of those national legislators and it does not reflect well upon their ability to make the right choices under pressure. Many of the members of our NC delegation, in the House of Representatives, have brought shame to their constituents here at home. We will not forget it in 2010 and beyond. I can only hope the Senators from North Carolina are far more familiar with the Cap and Trade bill than the delegation in the US House!

Senator, we are asking such a small thing. We are asking that you be true to your promises and represent your constituents wishes and desires concerning this Cap and Trade Bill.

What the US House has done in passage of this bill is already being referred to as a “Betrayal” of the people of America. The near socialist-like reform, brought about by the Democrats in charge of the Congress and government of the US, including the offices of the Obama Administration, have rocked the citizens who make up the grassroots of the electorate in America. There is an undercurrent of distrust and anger toward the current US government the likes of which I have never experienced in my nearly seven decades on this earth as an American. We are no longer becoming Balkanized - we ARE Balkanized!

Senator, much has to change for the US to be whole again. Those changes must begin in our national government. You can be a part of the healing process, a part of the process of bringing our nation back together again as a single people, by voting "no" on the Cap and Trade bill. Supporting the bill will only drive the wedge deeper, between the two camps, and ensure more pain for the American family as a result of higher prices on nearly everything, lost income due to lost jobs as more and more industry moves overseas in search of friendlier climes for business, and, of course, higher prices for petroleum products as we become ever more dependent on off-shore suppliers of fuel to run the engine that drives our nation’s economy. This stress will only feed the flames of distrust and anger seething just below the surface even now.

Now is the time, Senator, to represent the folks of your state who love this country and want to keep her intact.

Again, I respectfully ask that you vote "no" on the Cap and Trade bill (The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009) when it comes before the Senate. However you vote, it will be remembered in the primaries and in the November election next year.

The Destroy America Bill

America Betrayed!

Altho it is a bit past the day and the hour this news story broke, it is up to conservatives to keep it fresh and new and in the public's eye until we can "throttle" it in the hopper at the US Senate.

It gives me no joy to remind you that we told you this Congress and this President would do this to America. I refer, of course to the betrayal of America by the US House of Representatives when they passed the Cap and Trade Bill last week (June 26^th, 2009 - another day that may yet live in infamy!)

The vote was 219 for and 212 against. Nevertheless, HR 2454 passed and now goes to the Senate for a vote there and then to the President for his signature.

It was a black day for Republicans because the bill could have been stopped had not the handful of Republicans who voted for the bill not done so. You need to remember their names:

Mary Bono Mack - California 45th District

Mike Castle - Delaware

Mark Kirk - Illinois 10th District

Leonard Lance - New Jersey 7th District

Frank LoBiondo - New Jersey 2nd District

John McHugh - New York 23rd District

Dave Reichert - Washington 8th District

Chris Smith - New Jersey 4th District

The primaries are coming up next year, 2010. This is far too important an issue to forget. We must not allow GOP voters to forget those from among their ranks who sold the party, and the nation, out with their support of this “Bill to Destroy America.”

In the meantime, we have to contact our US Senators and let them know, in no uncertain terms, how we feel about what the US House has done and explain, clearly, that we will not stand for them supporting this bill in the Senate. Let them know that you/we are “taking names” and we will not allow the memory of this issue to flag, or be swept under the rug when their name next shows up on our ballots. E-mail, fax, phone, or write (altho only the Good Lord, Himself, knows when a letter will actually reach a US Senator these days!) your Senators immediately, if not sooner. You can bet the democrat’s-in-charge are going to ram this bill through the Senate just as fast as they can to try to get out ahead of our protests. As is his wont, Alan Caruba has written a piece, an important piece, I might add, that all Americans should read. You will find it HERE.

I have included it in this piece because Mr. Caruba’s insight into this rogue Congress, we currently have in Washington, DC is, in my opinion, without equal and when he decides to share that insight with us, it is worth careful consideration. Please don’t leave this site before you read what he has written below.

The next meeting of the Tea Parties is set for Independence Day, July Fourth. It is an opportunity to rally Americans, who still care about their country, to a showdown with the US Senate, the Congress as a whole, and our socialist President. If there had been any question in your minds as to the intent of the Socialist/Democrat Congress and President toward destabilizing America, her economy, and her standing among the nations of the world, then the passage of the Cap and Trade bill should erase all doubt. If this bill passes in the Senate - the entire worldwide geo-political alignment of nations will shift almost overnight. America will no longer be considered the world’s leader. She’ll just be another member of the pack.

Americans who care about their country cannot let this pass. We must rally and defend our country.

Betrayed by Congress

Mark it on your calendar; June 26, 2009 was the date that the House of Representatives betrayed every American in the name of saving the nation and the Earth from global warming.

It was the day that 219 Representatives voted for the obscenely misnamed “American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.” Only eight Republican members of the House voted for it and 44 Democrats voted against it.

The bill, some 1,200 pages, was not read by those men and women voting on it because they were not permitted the time to do so or have their staffs do it. The co-author of the bill, Rep. Henry Waxman, admitted that even he did not know its full contents.

The vote was not based on science, on economics, or simple common sense. It was an exercise in raw political power exercised by the Speaker of the House and her minions.

The bill puts limits on the generation of “greenhouse gases”, primarily carbon dioxide, setting up an elaborate scheme for the sale and trade of so-called carbon credits that will ultimately be the equivalent of the bundled housing mortgage securities that produced the present threat to the nation’s financial system. It is a get-rich scheme that will benefit a few while penalizing every American with higher costs for electricity.

The limits are justified by the claim that the Earth is dramatically warming due to too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The Earth has been cooling for the last ten years and is predicted to continue cooling for thirty years or more. Carbon dioxide plays no role in the warming or cooling of the Earth.

The bill is a direct attack on the nation’s coal industry. Fifty percent of all the electricity generated nationwide comes from coal-fired plants. The U.S. has deposits of coal sufficient to meet the nation’s needs for hundreds of years. It is cheap and it is abundant. No new coal-fired plants will be built in America in the foreseeable future. Coal that is not utilized here will be exported to China, a nation that is building new coal-fired plants and opening them on a weekly basis to meet its need for power.

The bill also allocates billions for the development of the two worst, most inefficient and unpredictable sources of electricity, wind and solar energy. Presently, these represent barely one percent of all the electricity generated in the nation. There is no way, nor should there be, they can replace coal, natural gas, and nuclear energy as a source of electricity. They are also the alleged source of “green” jobs.

As for “security”, a nation that cannot access its own sources of energy, coal, oil and natural gas, has no security if it must import them from other nations, some of whom are hostile to our values and system of government. The bill puts our fate in the hands of nations that support the goals of Islamic global domination. It puts the nation at the mercy of men like Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and explains why President Obama made a deep bow to a Saudi prince earlier this year.

The bill must now go to the Senate where it is hoped that the upper body, though controlled by Democrats, will ensure it does not move on to the desk of the President.

If it passes in the Senate, the beginning of the actual decline of America as a great economy will be dated June 26, 2009.

Without abundant power, electricity for our homes, offices and factories; without gasoline for our cars and trucks, America will become a failed nation.

We learned, sometime back, now, that some of this nations largest employers are telling their employees that they must stop smoking, by a date certain, or be fired. This is not smoking on the job, or even at the place of employment, but… anywhere… at anytime. Even in your own home - on your own time!

Ok, so where is that much vaunted “Right to Privacy”, we are assured the US Constitution grants each, and every, American citizen? Or, does it just cover woman who wishes to have an abortion, or the government, when it wishes to tap your telephone?

How far is too far?

The reason, they say, is to produce a healthier work force! The fact that the company’s medical costs are reduced is just a happy coincidence, right? I am told that 21 states allow this and 29 states do not. Who is right and who is wrong and when will the Supreme Court rule on this, or, have they?

Forget tobacco and cigarettes. The overriding question here is where; exactly, do we stop employers and government from encroaching on our privacy? Where? So far as I am concerned - we have allowed them both to go entirely too far, as it is.

Now, if smoking a cigarette is unhealthy activity, which cannot be condoned by your employer, then what about the consumption of alcohol? What about riding a motorcycle to work? What about over-eating? And speaking of eating, what about those extra pounds we men tend to carry around our waists, as we get older?

So, now having a few beers while watching the Super Bowl, in your own home, can get you fired? No, but smoking a cigarette can!

Eating that extra helping at Sunday dinner…can that get you fired? No, but smoking the after dinner cigarette can!

Having a couple of drinks after work, at your favorite neighborhood bar, can that get you fired? No, but lighting up while having those drinks can, or stepping outside, for a quick smoke, as required by some of our larger cities, can!

Now, lets clear away the smoke. (No pun intended.) What we have here is a flagrant attack by the “Smoking Nazis”! They’re doing this simply… because they can!

We are continuing to lose our privacy at an ever-increasing speed. There is hardly a place in America one can go, these days, without being seen by someone’s security cameras. I recently stood in a parking lot of one of the Big Box stores and counted 22 cameras zeroed in on the parking area, and entrances, and exits, to the store. And that was just on the OUTSIDE.

The “no smoking at home rules” are just the latest invasion of our privacy. It will get worse, if we allow it.

If you think it’s bad now, wait until we have OBAMACARE (national health insurance). Our every move will be monitored, and we will be directed, by the government, in every facet of our lives.

Weigh too much? Lose weight… or the government won’t pay for your medical bills.

Drive too fast? Slow down or the government won’t pay for your medical bills if you’re in an accident.

Smoke? The government won’t pay for your medical bills, period.

Have more than (two) kids? Your medical bills will not be paid if you exceed the allowable limit on babies.

Pregnant with a third child and the government insists that you have an abortion, but you really want this third child? Well, either have an abortion, or that third child will have no medical coverage and the cost of the pregnancy, and delivery, will not be covered, either.

Didn’t finish High School? Your medical bills will not be covered if you do not get a High School Diploma.Take the wrong courses in college? Well, if you didn’t check before you signed up for a particular course, and you signed-up for a course the government thinks is uncalled for, or that you do not need for your chosen occupation… then your medical bills will not be picked up by the OBAMACARE (National Healthcare).

Choose the wrong career, and you are on your own! No medical help from the government.

Get the picture? Almost total control. And you, and I, will have given that power to the government! (Or your employer) After a while, there won’t be much difference, anyway.

So, next time you hear someone Supporting OBAMACARE calling for National Healthcare, remind them of all the freedom they will give up for that cradle to the grave care.

The founders of this country wanted us to live free. Healthy, if we can manage it, but free, in any event. Today, it seems we are prepared to give our freedom up for a form of modern day Marxism. Socialized Medicine.

The one thing my family and the Kennedy family has in common is bootlegging! Oh, yes, I am a southern boy, a piedmont (foothills of the mountains/southern boy, and I hail from a long and distinguished line of some of the finest bootleggers in the country. And – I am proud of it.

Why in the world do I bring up such as thing as this now? Because the government has just done what bootleggers all over the North American continent have been praying for. They have all but outlawed smoking. Well they HAVE outlawed smoking any tobacco product worth a damn. That is to say - any tobacco product with enough nicotine in it to produce that tiny little squirt of glucose and shoot it into one’s blood stream. That little squirt then tells the brain to release endorphins, or whatever it is the brain releases, to make one feel better, to calm one down, to take the edge off an appetite, and to generally make life worth living for a hour or so more. But our socialist friends, in our socialist government, cannot stand it when the “proletariat” feels good, therefore, the ban on cigarettes (On ANY Tobacco Product) with enough nicotine to calm the nerves of the masses had to be banished! Like patents yelling at their kids: “STOP HAVING FUN!” I have told you over and over socialist believe in everybody suffering equally! Are you beginning to get the picture?

The bootleggers, as of today are gearing up. There will be cigarette factories in every city, every town, and every hamlet manufacturing cigarettes with enough nicotine in them to satisfy the smoker. And they will sell like candy! Bootleggers stand to make a fortune… tax-free. And, like the original prohibition, the general public will be pulling for the bootleggers.

My office is only three doors from the former office of one of the largest and moist successful cigarette bootleggers in the south - back a few decades ago when southerners were running bootleg cigarettes up north by the tractor trailer loads because of the outlandish taxes states like New York were placing on tobacco products. I reside in the state that produced more tobacco than any other state in the United States. So, I do know a little something about it.

The southern border of the US will be kept hot with the passage of illegal cigarettes making their way North, into the US, and they will be snapped up by smokers as fast as they can be delivered. The same holds true for bootleggers coming south across the American/Canadian border. By air, by land, by sea, the cigarettes are coming!

Soon, Obama will have to create an FDA police force (if we don’t already have one!). They will be charged with hunting down those really BAD cigarette bootleggers just like the DEA and hunts down the dope dealers. Actually, I suspect the DEA may get this job added to their current job description. (Wonder how many DEA agents are smokers? HA!)

There are millions to be made on illegal cigarettes. You are kidding yourself if you do not believe there are those entrepreneurs amongst us preparing, right now, as I write this screed, to locate producers, growers, and some "good ole boys" with a few tractor trailer trucks sitting idle, to set up a money making business that would make GM and Chrysler green with envy.

Illegal cigarettes may yet turn out to be far more profitable than illegal dope! How’s that for the government screwing themselves again with “the law of unintended consequences?” Why there is so much money to be made from illegal cigarettes it would tempt a church deacon!

Heck, I’m getting excited just writing about it. It is my heritage, I suppose. My bootlegger genes are aroused! The air around my computer is fogged-in with a blue haze from the pipe tobacco I am puffing as I write. Hey, all I have to do to grow the stuff is plant it in my backyard, here in North Carolina. I can grow and cure my own, shred it, and smoke it! Hot dang! Just like the good ole days!

Coming up Friday, June 26th, 2009, the Congress of the US will vote on a bill that will, if passed, change America forever. It will not be the America you and I currently know, as of today. It will be an America most Americans had hoped never to see. It will become an America The Founders of this nation had hoped to avoid. It will resemble more a developing nation than a “First-World” nation. In short, it will become that nation we conservatives have been warning The Left would produce if given the power to do so by the American electorate. In November of last year the American electorate did just that.

Alan Caruba has written an important piece about what it all means and what it WILL ALL MEAN to us, as Americans, once this bill passes the Congress and is signed into law by the President. You need to read Alan’s commentary. He is getting reaction on it from around the world. It would seem that folks outside the US know more about what this bill will do, than Americans themselves. Altho disquieting, the fact that Americans are the least informed about their own government, of any peoples on earth, is not surprising. Supported by outright lies by the President about “clean” or “renewable energy”, and based on the greatest hoax of the modern era, “global warming”, on Friday Congress is reportedly going to vote on the 1,200-page Waxman-Markey “Cap and Trade” bill (H.R. 2454).

It would impose a huge tax on the provision and use of electricity in the nation.
Energy is the most vital resource America has and we have enjoyed abundant and affordable energy for our long history. That will all change if the Waxman-Markey bill becomes law.

There is no, “global warming.” The Earth is presently ten years into a cooling cycle and it is predicted to last a very long time.

Calling carbon dioxide “a pollutant” is a lie. All vegetation on Earth is dependent on carbon dioxide. Putting Limits on carbon dioxide emissions is idiocy and lunacy.
For the nearly six months since President Obama assumed office and in league with the majority Democrat Party in Congress, the actions taken to date appear to have a single purpose, the destruction of the nation’s economy.

The Waxman-Markey bill is villainy on a grand scale.

It is no accident that President Obama and his acolytes keep calling for “clean energy”, “energy independence”, and babbling endlessly about “green jobs” as the real jobs of Americans are systematically destroyed. Upon taking office, Obama rescinded the executive order to permit exploration of the nation’s offshore continental shelf for the wealth of oil and natural gas it possesses.

It is no accident that his Secretary of the Interior unilaterally cancelled 77 oil and gas leases or that, on March 25, the House of Representatives passed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 that adds two million more acres of wilderness to the 107 million acres already “protected” by the federal government.

It is estimated that 300 million barrels of oil and 8.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas lie beneath these “protected” acres. The government owns 607 million acres of land in a nation founded on the belief in the sanctity and power of private property, the keystone of capitalism.

Even if the bill were to become law, it totally ignores the fact that all the other nations of the Earth will continue to generate “greenhouse gases.” The United Nations Kyoto Protocol, intended to reduce these gases, purposefully exempted China, India, and all undeveloped nations. Its limits are, by definition, meaningless.

The Waxman-Markey bill will, by 2035, reduce the aggregate domestic product (GDP) by an estimated $7.4 trillion. Our present annual GDP is about $14 trillion. It is estimated to destroy 844,000 jobs on average with peak years seeing unemployment rise by over 1,900,000 jobs. It will raise electricity rates 90% after adjusting for inflation. Prices for gasoline and natural gas will rise by 74% and 55% respectively.
This bill will impoverish Americans and destroy the nation.

Out of 307 million Americans, I seriously doubt that more than a relative handful know what Cap-and-Trade means or that it is even being debated, but they, their children, and their grandchildren will, by the actions of this Congress, live in a very different, very costly America.

The Democrats in Congress and the present occupant of the White House, by their actions, must hate America. They pose the greatest threat to its future that has ever existed in our history.

Call, write, fax, and email your representatives in Congress. Let them know you will not stand by idly as they destroy America.

It sometimes seems like we have been reading and hearing about turmoil in the Middle East for our entire lives, but the facts are otherwise. For most of the last century and earlier, the Middle East was a backwater of age-old Islamic repression.

Things began to change with the fall of the Ottoman Empire after World War One. They had backed the Germans and, already in decay, it didn’t take much of a push to end it. The winners of the war, primarily England and France, met in Versailles where they took out their maps of the region and divided it between them. Nations were created, some with ancient names like Syria and Lebanon, some with new ones like Trans-Jordan. A nation called Iraq was created.

The Saudis got very little for having cast their lot with the English. They would never trust them again and when Americans came knocking with a request to search for oil, they got the nod, not the British.

It was World War Two and its aftermath that really got the pot boiling. The Middle East had not played much of a role. Initially the war had been fought in North Africa with an eye on Libya’s oil reserves and the need to protect the Suez Canal from the Germans.

Shortly after the war’s end, India declared its independence from Great Britain and, at the same time, was partitioned to create Pakistan and Bangladesh for those of its Muslim population that did not want to live with their Hindu neighbors. By 1971, Bangladesh parted company with Pakistan and declared its own independence.

Former UK colonies became independent, but with the exception of Lebanon, nations like Syria and Iraq were controlled by despots and their cronies. Turkey opted for modernity, but sheikdoms such as Saudi Arabia remained sleepy, oil-rich backwaters of the region.

The introduction of Israel into this mix, recognized as a sovereign nation in 1947, was the catalyst for some the troubles that roil the region today. Islam’s argument with Israel is that its existence invalidates Islam’s claim to be the single religion destined to rule the world, let alone the Middle East.

If one believed the ravings of its mullahs, Iran exists for no other reason than to destroy Israel and to bring about the return of the Twelfth Imam, a mythical Shiite figure, through massive global death and destruction.

More than sixty years and several lost wars later, Hamas and Fatah in Gaza and the West Bank have no other purpose than to destroy Israel in the name of Palestine, a non-state entity that exists only as a welfare recipient of the United Nations and other donors. Hezbollah, located in Lebanon, is a client of Iran.

Even if there were no Israel, the endless dissatisfaction of Muslims with their lot in life would ensure that there would be strife. The issue is not Israel. It is modernity and the tantalizing prospect of true democracy for a people that have never experienced it.

The real problem for the Middle East, however, was and is Islam, a political as well as social and religious entity. Until the rest of the world is prepared to admit this, we shall all be forced to pretend that Pakistan has merely been having a few problems since its founding in 1947, that the so-called Palestinians have any legitimacy, that Islam is "a religion of peace."

Similarly, the genocide taking place in the Sudan is based in Islamic intolerance. Other human rights abuses, endemic to the Middle East, exist because the United Nations has been largely captured by its Islamic bloc of member states.

When Iran experienced its Islamic Revolution in 1979, it is doubtful its ruling mullahs ever expected to see Muslims by the tens of thousands in the streets of Tehran in 2009 protesting their brutal oppression.

It took a Green Revolution in Lebanon to expel Syria from the domination of its neighbor state. Afghanistan, as the former Soviet Union learned, should be left to itself, Islamic or not, because its tribes are a friend to neither each other nor intruders of any description.

With the exception of North Korea, the world’s attention has been captured by a Middle East in turmoil, not because Islam offers a better, more just and humane way of conducting political and social affairs, but because it fails on all counts.

The rest of the world has to stand with those brave Muslims in the streets of Tehran and everywhere else they demand what the West enjoys and represents, modernity, freedom, democracy, and a chance for a better life for all who embrace it.

A government run health Insurance company would be exactly the tool needed to shutter private insurance companies in America and drive currently insured Americans into the arms of the government owned company while at the same time demonstrating the “need” for a universal healthcare system even though the “need” was created by the government itself.

And another thing: Where, exactly does the government expect to get the doctors for ObamaCare? Has anyone in Washington thought of that, yet? I mean - New medical students will only decide to enter medical schools if they know that they can make a living once they graduate and set up their practice. It cost a bundle to attend medical school and it takes years for doctors to pay off their loans plus finance their “start-up” business. It is common sense; it seems to me to ask, (as a medical student) if I will be able to make a living as a medical doctor in the United States under ObamaCare.

Think about it for a moment. If you take away a doctor’s ability to make a fair and decent living in his chosen profession, then why in the world would he/she want to take on the expense of putting themselves through med school and the added expense of setting up a business, or a “practice; as we call it here in the states. It seems to me that in fairly short order, we will have a host of med schools sitting empty with few, or no students - and very soon after that we can expect to have a huge shortage of doctors in America. I understand we already have a shortage of primary care physicians right now. That is somewhere in the range of 40 to 50 thousand primary care physicians we need and do not have even today. Imagine the impact on American society when our youngsters decide they are not going to be doctors, when they grow up, because they cannot make a living at it.

When one thinks about it, ObamaCare begins to look very much like all the many pieces of knee-jerk legislation created in Washington over the years that ends up causing far more problems than it solves.

But, then, again, we have come to expect this type of "thrown together" legislation" under the Obama Regime as they rush to try to take advantage of the crisis dujour while the attention of Americans is diverted towards some problem that has been blown all out of proportion by the media and the government. It is a con job - and not a very good con job at that.

All of this prompts me to ask the obvious question: Just how dumb does Obama and his cohort in Washington think we are, anyway? Pretty dumb, I suspect. After all, Americans DID elect Obama and the other socialist in Congress to the offices they hold. That fact, alone, convinced this scribe of the extremely high ignorance factor amongst Americans in so far as politics is concerned.Obama’s election was a huge; I MEAN HUGE, victory for ignorance in America. There is simply no other way to explain the man’s election.

Now calls for Obama’s resignation are being heard from all corners of America as the more sentient beings among the electorate have awakened from their political slumber and realized what they have done.

Much damage to America has been done in the five months or so Obama has been thrashing about bludgeoning democracy with his socialist ideas and plans. He has trashed the American economic system, raped and pillaged the US treasury, and given immeasurable hope to this nation’s enemies. He has set up a government within the government, which is answerable only to him. His aspiration to some form of dictatorship for himself has become so evident that it is troublesome even to some on the political left.

Now as America is facing a second recession in a matter of months, a recession, we might add that will make the one just ending look like a Sunday School picnic, many Americans are beginning to understand that inflation will be raising it’s ugly head within a matter of months - and to make matters even worse, massive tax increases will be necessary to payback the money squandered by Obama on bailouts and buyouts of companies that should have been allowed to go belly up, file bankruptcy, reorganize, and come back for a second try at getting it right - without public funding.

At some point, this house of cards, that Obama built, is going to come crashing down. When it does, there will be much weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth as the political left is caught under the tonnage of debris. It will not be pretty. And it will do a lot of damage to America - damage that will take generations to repair.

Less than six months after Obama became President of the United States, the US Senate passed a formal apology for slavery. For what it is worth, the act is a non-binding resolution. It is said to acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery. Last year the US House of Representatives passed their own apology for slavery, as well. A number of states have passed apologies including, unfortunately, my own state. There are reports that a huge celebration is being planned for sometime next month. A pathetic gesture, I know, but, hey, these are liberals and everything with them is based on emotion and feel-good politics.

If you have read this far, you already suspect I am not happy about this affront to my southern ancestors and to me. And, just so the record is straight, as I said last year - I’ll be darned if I will apologize! I had nothing to do with it, and I refuse to be saddled with a blanket of guilt for something I had nothing to do with! I just want that to be clear! I feel NO NEED to apologize and therefore refuse to ACT as if I am sorry for something for which I am wrongly accused! Never!

Alan Caruba, a renown commentator and blogger, who happens to also be a friend, has an excellent piece on this very topic over at “Facts not Fantasy.” Mr. Caruba had this to say, last July, when The House of Representatives passed their resolution: “There are a lot of Americans, mostly liberals, who can only see what was wrong about American history. Morally it was wrong to import slaves and work them to death on plantations. Morally it was wrong to chase the native-Americans from their lands. Morally it was wrong to deprive Japanese-Americans of their rights and property during World War II. These things occurred in different eras and virtually everyone involved are dead.Why the present generation of Americans has to apologize for the actions of previous generations escapes my understanding.” You can read this insightful article HERE.

Alan was correct last year and his comments certainly are timely today - about eleven months later.

Last year I said the following: “We Dixicans know this arrow is aimed at the heart of Old Dixie. As a Dixican, I resent the heck out of that! Check your US history and you will find that SLAVERY WAS LEGAL IN THE US. It was “Northern Slavers” whose ships brought the slaves from Africa to this country. (And the ships of European slave traders). It was Northern Slavers, in America, who sold the Africans, at auction, in the New England states. Some of the richest families of the Northern states can trace their family fortunes directly back to the slave trade. And finally, for the record, the very first anti-slavery laws, in the US, were passed in the SOUTH!"

Reparations, anyone? Oh, the Congress assures us there is no way, legal or otherwise, that these resolutions can possibly open the door for reparations. You believe that? If you do, I have this bridge in Brooklyn, NY, in which, I suspect, you might show some interest. If you really, REALLY, DO believe that -may we suggest you get your wallets, pocketbooks, and checkbooks out and - assume the position.

Who, exactly, will be expected to pay those reparations? Huh? As Mr. Caruba so clearly pointed out – they’re all dead! Maybe better schools, yes, and a better public education system in this country, would have made it clear to American scholars the plain and simple fact that there is hardly a human being alive, of any race, who cannot trace his/her ancestry back to slavery… somewhere on this earth. We ALL come from ancestors who, at one time or another, were slaves. Heck, we even have countries, and nationalities of people, whose very names derive from the word “slave.” And, just for the heck of it, check the pigment in their skin.

Now if some folks want to press the issue of reparations shouldn't we discuss what we owe to those folks we call today “Native-Americans”?

Now, maybe I’m being overly sensitive about this but, in all honesty, it surely does seem to me that Americans would be better served if the Congress would seriously look for solutions to modern day problems such as bankrupting the nation, and our children, and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with their nationalization of America’s financial system and auto-making industry and the frightening speed with which they are tossing democracy overboard in favor of socialism, which has a proven record of failure, massive failure, everywhere it has been tried as a basis for society.

But, I suppose we shouldn’t expect too much from our current crop of “leaders.” I mean - they DID buy into the hoax of man-made global warming. Oh, yes, they bit –line, hook and sinker! And the American taxpayer is about to receive the bills for that, too.

I am of the opinion it is way past time for America to stop apologizing for doing all the things that made this nation great and much of the world green with envy, rather than as a result of recycling our trash! I am more than convinced that an American President ought not condemn the people of the country he/she represents by offering apologies to other nations on behalf of his own country while overseas – especially when a vast majority, or even a large minority, actually feels no remorse and no need to make such an apology. It is disingenuous, and it is certainly dishonest, and frankly, lacks the hallmark of “good taste.” It is, as an earlier generation of Americans would have said: “unseemly.”

If one listens to the MSM one will believe that the world is going to run out of oil next week! Everything will come to a grinding halt. The economy will crash… everything will end! Typical “Chicken Little” stuff.

Well, I don’t believe it.

I haven’t gotten around to researching whether oil is a renewable resource or not. Some say yes… while others say it is not and, that the supply of oil is finite. I simply don’t know… yet. I haven’t researched it.

In the meantime I did find some interesting info over at the National Center for Policy Analysis. You can visit them and take a look at the info they have posted there which seems to bolster the fact that we are nowhere near depleting our oil supply. Visit them at:

I suppose, if anything, this should give us all pause to re-think our Gas Shortage. It is being sold by the MSM as a crude oil shortage when in fact we have plenty of crude. What we don’t have in the US is refineries! We need two or three times as many as we have…. and soon. But, unless Congress steps in and forces the EPA to back off some of it’s hamstringing rules so the petroleum industry can build new refineries then we have only begun to feel the pinch at the pumps!

We came across this article on the “Daily Mail” site and since it so vividly details the insanity of Iran’s leader, Ahmadinejad, we recommend it you. It is titled: “Why This Man Should Give Us All Nightmares.“ It was written by Ann Leslie and published back in August of 2006. You’ll find it HERE.

We are facing an enemy, in Ahmadinejad, every bit as dangerous as Hitler and the Nazi party. At some point the US will have to deal with this man and with his insane plan to take the world into chaos. When that day comes, in the not too distant future, we will, as usual, be on our own. We can expect no help from Europe, which will fold, like a cheap suit, at the first serious threat from Iran.

While the totally ineffective UN plays at placating Ahmadinejad, he grows stronger as he nears the realization of his dream of an Iranian Atom bomb. Our new socialist President is having far too much fun playing with his own private “Kitchen Cabinet” many have dubbed Obama’s Politburo of Czars, to get serious about Iran, other than his offer to “talk” to them. Meeting and talking to the Iranians will accomplish nothing except to raise the Iranians stock in the eyes of their follows at home. For America to meet and talk to the Iranians will be seen as a victory for Iran and will give the Iranians equal footing with America in the world of diplomacy.

But Ahmadinejad is not America’s only enemy these days. Add to the growing list North Korea. Although North Korea has never REALLY been off that list, she has, once again, moved to the top.

If the US were blessed with forward thinking leaders, we would be building up our armed forces in preparation for the confrontation, which, eventually, will come. But we cannot do so with the Old Hippie Congress and their own fascination with the power that comes to the few in leadership positions under America’s new socialism

If the government were serious about the defense of this country, which is their very first obligation as leaders, then, the US “standing Army” would be doubled. Our Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corp need to be doubled in strength… and as quickly as possible. If that means reinstitution of the draft… then so be it. When the next war comes, it won’t be fought from 15,000 feet with smart bombs. It will be a slugfest in the air, on the sea, and on the land. It will not be contained in the Middle East. The continental US will be hit. We can count on it! Missiles launched from ships, lying off shore in international waters, can burst through our radar defenses, and hit targets before we can react to stop them.

The US military, though “battle-hardened” is seriously tired. Shortsightedness, and a tendency to believe “we can all just get along,” has led the US into a “head in the sand” policy which will come back to haunt us… and to hurt us.

The US needs a crash program, right now; to build up our military might to a state of readiness we reached in the midst of the Second World War. Although our leaders don’t want to admit it, we are facing the same intensity of danger as we did at the beginning of that war when our military was at one of its lowest ebb.

When one looks at the threats to the security of the US today and compares it to the reaction of our leadership toward meeting that threat, if one has an ounce of sense, one must be seriously concerned. Our Congressional leadership is pathetic.

Well, I have news for Congress… and the White House. (It ought not be news to the Congress or the President, but it apparently is.) We have only just begun to pay for all the years of relative peace we have enjoyed as a nation. In the conflicts ahead, there will be no room for political correctness. There will be no call for “winning the hearts and minds” of our enemies. We won’t have time! We’ll be fighting for our very existence!

In the meantime, I fully expect our President, Obama, to continue along his fairy tale path, assured in his own ignorance, that he can talk and negotiate his way out of war with any nation, until thousands of Americans lie dead, and irradiated, in the streets of our large east coast cities. (Now that we are, once again, toe to toe with North Korea, America’s West Coast is in serious danger from North Korean Missiles as well.)

America is as vulnerable as I have ever known her to be. Unfortunately, I have come to believe that it will take a mushroom cloud over the cities of New York, Boston, LA, San Francisco, or the states of Alaska, or Hawaii, or even our nation’s capital city, Washington, DC to wake us up!

The US is playing at suicide while our enemies circle us, with fangs bared, ready to pounce. They are spurred on by what they have decided is weakness on the part of America’s leadership. It is only a matter if time until they know what so many of America’s citizens already know. The US is as vulnerable as she has ever been. And America stands astride the bull’s eye.

I am absolutely convinced that had America had the government we have today back in oh, say, the late seventeen hundreds and eighteen hundreds we would never have grown into the world power we became and, in fact, were - up until last year.

Never in my nearly 7 decades on this earth, as an American, have I seen the people of America so morose, so depressed, so completely whipped, as I see today. The ‘spirit” has almost gone out of the average American. In biblical terms: our “countenance has fallen.” In other words, our self-esteem has fallen through the floor - and then some.

The average American has watched as his job has fled from him, his home has been foreclosed upon, his car has been repossessed, his president is traveling around the world apologizing for doing all the things that made America great, making the average American look and feel like a fool. Yes, Americans have a right to feel let down.

If I were a young man and had fewer responsibilities, I’d pack-up and move to Australia. I am hearing more and more young American men uttering those words today than I have since the 1960’s, when a number of middle aged Americans took their families and fled to Australia.

But, you see, this is what socialism does to a people. This is what socialism does to a country. It guts it. It eviscerates a country and that country’s people. It smothers their motivation.

America, today, is still reeling from the current recession, which is all but over, and trying desperately to prepare for the next huge recession/depression, which is just around the corner. There is little reason to feel any of that HOPE Obama preached about during his campaign for the presidency. Oh, we got the “change” all right. Yep! Everything changed for the worst. But, there simply is NO HOPE. Even if there was, the average American is without the energy to grasp even the proverbial straw.

Just a few short months ago America had limitless horizons. Today the American horizon lies just in front of the toes of his shoes. Americans find themselves beaten down by a relentless government grown so big it sucks the air out of any project it touches. Once ObamaCare is passed into law, the US government will have, indeed, touched everything in America.

The average American’s nerves are strained so they are virtually vibrating as we are hit with a continuous parade of one crisis after another, many man-made and formulated, in my opinion, in the offices of the West Wing. For the first time in the history of the United States, Americans speak of their government in hushed voices and in guarded tones for fear that someone friendly to the Obama Regime may overhear and report them to whomever one reports such things. There is genuine fear of our government in America these days and, unfortunately, those in power have found they like it when Americans fear them.

Those of us accustomed to speaking out with our honest opinions about our government and what our government is doing have now found that we must weigh our words even more carefully, especially when the words we speak and scribble are not complimentary of the Obama Regime.

Unused to this fearful atmosphere many Americans are confused and disoriented and unable to combat the all out attack of socialism on our democracy. The use of “thugocracy” to defeat democracy in America is an altogether new experience for most Americans, especially those of us who live outside the urban areas where the practice of strong-arm politics has been known for a hundred years.

Here in the hinterlands the aforementioned “atmosphere of fear” will last only so long. There WILL be a backlash. Fear will turn to anger. Americans will demand the return of their birthright of freedom and liberty, and they will not be denied.

Already Americans in the so-called “fly-over” country are well ahead of their brothers and sisters in metropolitan America in making the transition from fear to anger. Unwilling to live under the yoke of slavery lain across their shoulders by the politburo of Obama’s socialist Central Committee, they will not quietly accept the desecration of their constitutional rights.

There are among us many who believe America may not survive. I think she will. But – America will never, I repeat, America will NEVER be the same as she was prior to the Obama Regime. The doubt, the guilt liberals carry around like lead weights on their souls has now been draped onto the shoulders of this country. It will drag us down. Much as an athlete running the hundred-yard dash with weights tied to each leg, America will find she cannot distance herself from the pack as she has in her meteoric past. Now she is a part of the pack and there is no real future for a nation as an “also ran.”

America was a leader. No longer. That distinction has been stripped from us by the political left whose feelings of guilt for being superlative strangles the desire to excel. Limits on America’s potential are imposed by those among us who preach “fairness” in all things. Fairness may provide a warm feeling but it throttles the ability to excel in those whom God has endowed with special abilities exceeding those of their fellow Americans. America was a special place because she dared to be special. Americans today are restrained by their government and by their fellow Americans by laws, the purpose of which, we are told, is to save the earth. Creativity and innovation, formerly the hallmark of American society will be, in fact already are, restraining the country from meeting standards of excellence that come naturally to a free people. And therein lies the key.

In the paragraph above I mentioned “a free people.” People must be free to accomplish the truly marvelous things America has accomplished in her brief history. By voluntarily giving up that freedom, that liberty, (in 2008) America began her meteoric crash into the dustbin of history and relegated herself to the bone yard of once great nations.

As Americans whisper about their government these days (because they fear it. The government, I mean.), we ordinary Americans have noticed a phenomenon that seems to have escaped the notice of the liberal/socialists in that government, including the President. The black community in America has just migrated back onto a plantation. This time it is Uncle Sam’s Plantation! And the “Boss,” up in the “Big House,” is a black man! How Ironic is that?! Not content to return his own people to the plantation, the Boss seems determined to have the white folks join them on Uncle Sam’s Plantation. That, dear reader, is just another definition of Socialism!

Now, before you get your underpants all in a wad, please take the couple or three minutes it takes to read a column by Star Parker, herself a black women, who knows something about socialism and about the government plantation Obama is attempting to drive all of us onto. The title of Ms. Parker’s piece is: “Back on Uncle Sam’s Plantation.” You’ll find it HERE.

In her article referring to what she calls a “A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960s, that were going to lift the nation's poor out of poverty…”Ms. Parker says: ”A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from "How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?" THAT, dear reader, is the end result of socialism. Self-reliance is eroded right out of existence and total reliance on government becomes the norm. When that happens you have a population of slaves. And that is where America is headed… right back into slavery. This time, however, we will all be slaves indentured to the government.

Someone once said the following: “The purpose of Liberty is Individual Freedom; the purpose of socialism is slavery. The two philosophies are diametrically opposed. Yet they are the only choices available to humanity. Freedom or Slavery. And if one studies slavery, e.g. U.S.S.R., China, Rumania, Albania, Cuba, Attila the Hun, you will inexorably discover the core evil of socialism.” Truer words were never spoken.

There is an article entitled: “What's the difference between socialism and slavery?” The blogger writes that it is hard to find people who defend slavery, but easy to find people who defend socialism. He goes on to ask the question: “What’s the difference?” Then he proceeds to answer his own question: “With socialism, the government wields the lash. Modern slavery limited the oppression to black people; socialism oppresses productive people of all races. Socialism is slavery as a government supported enterprise. THIS Blogger is spot on! In an article he wrote back in May of 2003 Ludwig Von Mises penned the following words: “In using the term freedom as applied to human beings, we think only of freedom within society. Yet, today, social freedoms are considered by many people to be independent of one another. Those who call themselves "liberals" today are asking for policies, which are precisely the opposite of those policies which the liberals of the nineteenth century advocated in their liberal programs. The so-called liberals of today have the very popular idea that freedom of speech, of thought of the press, freedom of religion, freedom from imprisonment without trial--that all these freedoms can be preserved in the absence of what is called economic freedom. They do not realize that, in a system where there is no market, where the government directs everything, all those other freedoms are illusory, even if they are made into laws and written up in constitutions. I suppose the most frustrating thing I have run across during the campaign of Obama for the presidency and during his brief regime is the total ignorance of the American public as to what, exactly, SOCISALISM is - and what the danger(s) of socialism is/are. It is amazing that so few Americans understand that socialism has failed everywhere and every time it has been tried on this planet. It is equally amazing how ignorant Americans are as to the TOLL socialism takes on a society and the people of that society. The death toll in the countries, which have tried it, and the mounting death toll of those unfortunate people of planet earth who are still forced to live under the yoke of socialism, even today, is absolutely astounding.

Now, unless you have written and published about the dangers of socialism you cannot imagine the vile hatred that will aimed at you for having the temerity to mention that socialism is evil. And to announce the painfully obvious fact that the US government has gone over to socialism brings verbal abuse the likes of which I have never experienced and I have served in the US military and consider my self a world-class “curser,” when provoked.

The “New England Republican” says: “Socialism is slavery. It takes by force leaving no choice. We fought a war over this very idea, did we not?” We would answer – YES, as a matter of fact- we did! The article “Socialism is Slavery” can be found HERE.

In his article Vermont Woodchuck says: “If the State sent individuals with manacles every week to seize you, your wife or husband to toil unpaid for 12 or more hours, depending upon what you make, would you be content?

Your work will consist of serving non-working capable adults in their daily habits such as shopping for them or taking them shopping, driving them in your vehicle to the park, pools day care and doctor visits. See that they get to the cable company to order more channels, to get high speed Internet service and take them wherever else they wish to go. Additionally, cleaning off sidewalks of snow, maintaining common living areas, painting their rentals and picking up their garbage is also your job. In fact, anyone that obtains social services of any kind, you will work for them throughout your allotted work time. Every week 52 weeks a year, you, your husband or wife and working kids if any will do this under consequence without surcease. He goes on to say:

" You take it every payday when the Government decrees that you pay for non-working capable adults to sit on their bums, ride in taxis to shop, watch cable TV, use the Internet, live in paid housing and get health care you cannot afford."

There ARE Americans who get it! There ARE Americans who understand and KNOW what socialism is and what it is going to do to our country. Yet, we are shouted down when we dare raise our voices in warning to our fellow Americans.

As we consider Obama’s regime, so far, it has become clear that he intends to transform America into that socialist utopia which is the glittering gem of mythology. Consider for a moment the nationalization of the auto industry, the healthcare industry, and the financial industry and what you have is the beginning of total government control of every tiny little part of the lives of Americans. When it is the government providing your job, how will you feel about criticizing that government, huh? Freedom of speech, you say? What freedom of soeech? The new socialists in charge of our government have made it plain they view the constitution as an inconvenient suggestion by a bunch of wealthy, elite, white men of a long ago age.

Just a few days ago we learned that one of the major “over-the-air” networks will be broadcasting their news from the White House itself. One must wonder about the quiet calls for a government bailout of some of the major press outlets in America and it leads to the question we must ask ourselves -what happens to freedom of speech - and the press - after a government bailout? The presses will belong to the government! I think you know the answer to that one.

There will be no free speech at all after a government 'bailout' of the press. The government will own the presses.

But – America voted for change. Obama promised change – and THIS is the “Change” Americans voted for. It is an exchange of freedom for slavery. Nothing less.

The yoke will be complete when Obama gets his healthcare bill passed through the Congress in a few weeks. It is the last link in the chain that will seal our doom as a free people. With it in place the government will be able to control every tiny aspect of our daily lives – and they WILL!

America’s days as a great, free, nation are over (at least for now!). We Americans sold our birthright, and that of our children, to a snake oil salesman. The only thing that surprises me about it all is just how quickly Americans dropped to their knees and bared their necks for the chains of slavery to be securely wrapped and locked around them. The pain I feel at the loss of my country is indescribable.

President Obama has never met a crisis he didn’t love; particularly the ones that involve spending trillions of dollars. What fun it is to propose programs that involve borrowing or taxing Americans to death.

On June 9, the Associated Press reported, “President Barack Obama on Tuesday proposed budget rules that would allow Congress to borrow tens of billions of dollars and put the nation deeper in debt to jump-start the administration’s emerging health care overhaul.”

Since the stealth heathcare “reform” that Bill and Hillary Clinton tried to foist on Americans during the 1993-94 Congress, this “crisis” has been off the radar screen of Americans who have the audacity to think they should decide whether and how much health insurance they want and to expect healthcare that is not rationed on the basis of how old they are and other factors determined by some faceless government bureaucrat.

Liberals obsess over healthcare options because, of course, they want “fairness” no matter how much it will cost Americans in general and the economy in particular.

To that end, various “progressive” (liberal) groups have gotten together and have launched an $82 million campaign to support President Obama’s healthcare program.
The umbrella for this massive public brainwashing is called Health Care for America Now. Why is it that everything Obama wants has to be done “now”? Oh yes, I forgot. It’s a “crisis.”

Health Care for America is directed by Richard Kirsch and has been joined by AFL-CIO, MoveOn.org, and Democracy for America, a group founded by former Democratic National Committee Chairman, Howard “the scream” Dean. The group is essentially a re-branded version of liberal lunatic groups.

An excellent analysis of Obamacare has been published by the Cato Institute in a May 21 Policy Analysis (No. 638) titled appropriately as “Seven Bad Ideas for Health Care Reform. Authored by Michael Tanner, it points out some very ugly truths.

At the time of rising unemployment, the government would raise the cost of hiring workers by requiring employers to provide health insurance to their workers or pay a fee (tax) to subsidize government coverage.

Every American would be required to buy an insurance policy that meets certain government requirements.

A government-run plan similar to Medicare would be set up in competition with private insurance.

The government would undertake comparative-effectiveness research and cost-effectiveness research and use the results to impose practice guidelines on providers, initially in Medicare and Medicaid, but ultimately extending the rationing to private insurance plans.

Private insurance would face a host of new regulations.

Subsidies would be available to help middle-income people purchase insurance while expanding Medicare and Medicaid.

Finally, the government would subsidize and manage the development of a national system of electronic medical records.

According to a June 8 Bloomberg News report, “President Barack Obama wants Congress to consider taxing the wealthy instead of workers to pay for a health-care overhaul.” This is yet one more lie by the Obama administration in the run-up to impose the most vile form of government control over everyone’s lives imaginable.

The American Medical Association, the nation’s largest physician organization, has let it be known that it will oppose creation of a government-sponsored insurance plan.

The promise of the Declaration of Independence that everyone has a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness will be rendered meaningless by Obamacare if your life depends on government policies regarding healthcare.

A June 1 Business Week commentary pointed out that “there are only three ways to pay for universal coverage: Raise taxes, cut payments to medical providers, or ration care.” All three are the worst possible options imaginable.

“The Congressional Budget Office estimates that covering the uninsured could add anywhere from $1 trillion to $2 trillion to the federal budget over ten years,” said the BW commentary. “On top of that, government economists expect Medicare to run out of money in 2017 if current spending trends continue.”

Here’s a handy tip regarding estimates by government economists. Multiply them by a factor of ten!

As this healthcare horror awaits its run through Congress, think of it as a massive Medicare, the government program for seniors that cost 3.2 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2008 and which will become insolvent this year!
Medicare faces $34 trillion in unfunded liabilities; the cost of services for which seniors are eligible in the future.

According to the Medicare Trustees, the program will require a 134 percent increase in the payroll tax paid by every working American in order to remain solvent!

And this insane Democrat-controlled Congress wants to expand on Medicare while requiring everyone to purchase healthcare insurance, even if they don’t want to. Then it will compete against existing private insurance companies without having to have the funds in place as they must to meet their obligations.

This isn’t healthcare reform. It is the destruction of the best healthcare system in the world. It is the destruction of the nation’s economy. It, along with the tax on energy use, must be stopped.

We are being attacked by one “crisis” after another when the only one that matters is the restoration of the full faith and credit of the U.S. dollar. If the “health” of the U.S. dollar is not restored, nothing else will matter very much.

Remember “Morning in America”? That was the motto of the Ronald Reagan Campaign back when he ran for President of the US. The man was elected twice by landsides.

Obama’s use of fear to motivate Americans to do what he wants us to do is simply unprecedented in the history of American politics. It is known within the circles of the political elite as the “Politics of Fear.” No, I’m NOT kidding, Mr. and Mrs. American. You are being played for the fools Obama and the democrat/socialists believe that you are. So far they have not been wrong in their estimation of how easily Americans will react to fright.

There is an old expression I ran across sometime back that goes something like this: “Ever notice when it seems there is imminent danger and impending disaster, there is someone who always seems to know exactly what to do? Quit often that person is insane!” I have no idea who said that, if I did I would certainly give then full credit, not only for the expression itself but also for the accuracy in the application of it to the Obama Regime.

Fear mongering is the order of the day in America. Even a child knows, instinctively, that fear is THE great motivator. You want someone to do something… then scare the living daylights out of them by telling them all the awful things that will happen to them if they DON’T do what you are suggesting they do. Watch how quickly they rise to the challenge then!

So far, under the Obama Regime, he has scared the American people into loading themselves, their children and their grand children up with tons of debt that, I dare say, my great-grandchildren will STILL be trying to pay off when they reach middle age. And there is more coming.

Our financial community, especially the stock market, is scared to death of Obama. On Jan. 20, 2009, the stock market saw its worst Inauguration Day drop in U.S. history. It lost 332 points, sliding the Dow to 7949. On Feb. 10, the day the Senate passed its version of Obama's $838 billion spending plan, the Dow nose-dived and lost 382 points. I’d say the stock Market is correct to be scared witless of Obama, especially now that he wants to set limits on their remuneration, their salaries, bonuses, and such. I supposed the Central Committee of the Obama Regime just doesn’t have enough to do redistributing the nation’s wealth, (interpreted that means: MY money and YOUR money).

Obama has told the American people that only government can rescue us from this catastrophe. As a conservative American that goes against everything I believe, indeed, everything I know about government and about people.

Government has no money of it’s own. Every cent it spends must come from somewhere else. It comes from you and from me, the American taxpayer. If there is not enough money the government takes more of your money. It must, for as I said above, government has none. When your money runs out, they “borrow” your children’s money by simply printing more of it and charging it to your child’s account or your grandchild’s account. Oh, did I mention that the more money they print, means more money in circulation, and that will drive the value of the money down? So now you know. We call that inflation. As of this moment we are looking at being hit by rampant inflation in maybe 12 months, more or less. When it hits. The money you DO have will be worth even less than it is today.

You may recall one of Obama’s people saying, shortly after the election: “Never allow a crisis go to waste.” That was Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s Chief of Staff. Why, even the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, speaking to the European Parliament said: "Never waste a good crisis." Tell me, do you need any more proof that you, the American citizen, are being used, being herded like a, well, a herd of sheep? Does it not make you the least bit angry? As Jonah Goldberg said in his column on March 10th, 2009: “The real scandal is that this administration thinks crises are opportunities for governmental power-grabs.” You can read his excellent article HERE.

Some of us are old enough to remember FDR saying: “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” In his article, made reference to above, Goldberg says: “Now Barack Obama all but admits that all he has to fear is the loss of fear itself.” Not only does the Obama Regime admit to using fear to get his agenda passed, they openly boast about it and the democrat/socialists call it leadership. How utterly disgusting.

Americans ought to be raging in the streets at being treated as lobotimized robots needing to be told what to do, when to do it, and to whom to do it. THIS is what happens when a society loses it’s rugged individualists, the people who stand up and say, “Wait a damn minute! What you are saying is BS.” So few are left in America today that there is no counter balance to the Pied Pipers of the Left who lead the American elcectorate around by the nose and make them like it!

The Obama Regime tosses around words like “catastrophe”, “crisis”, “disaster”, with what approaches wild abandon. In yesterday’s America someone would have long since called his hand on his fear mongering. The GOP won’t do it. They’re crawling around the floor whimpering like a whipped dog offering to roll over and expose it’s belly for a show of affection, any affection. The party has become pathetic. It is totally useless in any fight with the democrat/socialists. But don’t waste your pity on the GOP. They brought this whipping upon themselves by not listening to their conservative base. They will now pay a price of near biblical porportions and relegated to the wilderness for another 40 years.

Back in 1979 President Jimmy Carer made a a speech that sealed his doom as a two-term president. He said: "The energy crisis is real. It is worldwide. It is a clear and present danger to our nation. These are facts and we simply must face them." The moment he uttered those words his presidency was sealed at one term. But that was back in the day when, as the saying goes, “Men were men, and women were glad of it!”

I cannot speak for you, but I can tell you my feelings on the Obama Regime’s use of fear politics and fear mongering. I despise it. Anytime you frighten people to get your way, no matter what “your way” happens to be, it is a cheap shot and it is a dishonorable way of doing business.

But, no one is rising to challenge Obama and, soon enough, he will be using the fear he, himself, has instilled in the American public to get his way on illegal Immigration (amnesty for illegal aliens), and a universal healthcare system in this country that will keep us bankrupt well into the next millennium.

In the bad ole days of the Soviet Union, it was ruled by the Politburo. The Politburo functioned as the central policymaking and governing body of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The body was made up of the top members of the Central Committeee. In theory, it acted as the political bureau (hence Politburo) of the Central Committee, elected by them to direct the Party between the sessions of the committee and with a mandate that only covered the Party. The Politburo was responsible to, and its membership was subject to, the approval of the Central Committee.

We tell you this just in case you might be wondering where Our socialist President Comrade Obama got the idea for all those Czars he has appointed who seeem to answer to no one but Obama. Well, now you know!

Check this out. It is from the blog, “Facts not Fantasy”, of my friend Alan Caruba. It reads as follows: “I would argue that a President who appoints over twenty “czars” to supersede the powers of the secretaries of various federal departments; people who are apparently exempt from Congressional approval or oversight, and people who apparently do not feel the need to hold press conferences to explain what they are doing, is distinctly unconstitutional.

It will be argued that there have been various such “czars” in the past, mostly particularly “drug czars” whose purpose was to oversee and coordinate efforts to address the nation’s problems with illegal drugs, but the imposition of people to virtually replace members of the President’s cabinet is unprecedented. Cabinet officers must receive the approval of Congress, but these “czars” have not. We recommend you read the entire article titled:” Time to Demand Obama's Resignation”. You’ll find it HERE.

I happen to agree with Mr. Caruba that America cannot wait until 2012 to rid ourselves of Mr. Obama. I sincerely doubt the country will even have elections that year. I suspect that if something isn’t done, the country will be in such bad shape elections will be “postponed” until some later date. Your guess is as good as mind as to when that “later date” might occur.

In an article entitled: “An Early Call for Obama's Resignation -With Democrats Like Him, Who Needs Dictators?” Mr. Ted Rall says: “We expected broken promises. But the gap between the soaring expectations that accompanied Barack Obama's inauguration and his wretched performance is the broadest such chasm in recent historical memory. This guy makes Bill Clinton look like a paragon of integrity and follow-through.” Mr. Rall goes on to say: “Obama is useless. Worse than that, he's dangerous. Which is why, if he has any patriotism left after the thousands of meetings he has sat through with corporate contributors, blood-sucking lobbyists and corrupt politicians, he ought to step down now--before he drags us further into the abyss.” Rall says: “Obama is cute. He is charming. But there is something rotten inside him. Unlike the Republicans who backed Bush, I won't follow a terrible leader just because I voted for him. Obama has revealed himself. He is a monster, and he should remove himself from power.” WOW! That’’s pretty powerful stuff, huh? You can read the entire article HERE.

It is always disturbing to hear calls for the resignation of the leader of the United States - no matter which side of the political aisle he/she hails from. But the US is in trouble, BIG trouble, and we can’t wait around hoping that if we do nothing the problems will go away. They won’t.

The US is circling the drain. It is time for a nationally organized movement to demand the resignation of Obama from the office of President of the United States.

It is time to begin pressuring your Congressperson and your Senators to demand that Obama resign, or, lacking that, the Congress should call for the impeachment of Obama in order to get to the bottom of the seeming unconstitutional act, by the President, of appointing all those twenty some odd “Czars” who have even, in some cases, all but replaced the various secretaries of cabinet level departments. There is something decidedly sinister about having a group of men and women who pull the strings from behind the curtains and answer only to the President. That is a frightening thing, especially in a country that until mid January of this year was a democratic representative republic.

Mr. Obama must be called to account for theses actions. Let us hear his explanations for these apparently unconstitutional acts - and while we are at it - the Congress should demand that Mr. Obama produce an honest-to-goodness birth certificate that will settle, once and for all, whether the man is even legally qualified to be President of the United States.

We cannot afford to wait.

If you’re like me, you tired of feeling helpless as the price on foreign oil skyrockets and our national legislators sit on their … uh… hands, in Washing ton, (The per-barrel price on crude was at the highest level, so far this year, at this writing.) D.C. and DO NOTHING but dream up more rules and regulations to push oil prices even higher and gasoline prices at the pumps higher still. Even here in my home state legislators are trying desperately to find ways of pushing the state’s per gallon taxes on gasoline higher or just maintain the current level of state taxes per gallon on a commodity they KNOW we must have to move our goods and services and yes, even ourselves. Many, if not most of us depend on gasoline to get us to and from our jobs so that the economy, such as it is, will remain, at least viable.

Our economy is teetering on the brink of ruination as the result of indescribably DUMB “SAVE THE PLANET” laws, and regulations, which are strangling our small businesses and damaging our large corporations so badly it will take decades for THEM to recover.

Americans are losing jobs in a near landslide of unemployment as a result of the bungling of the Obama Regime. The prices of nearly every foodstuff available in America’s supermarkets have seen gigantic increase in prices because of these same rules and regs. We are looking at a possible worldwide famine because we are being forced, by the mentally challenged lawmakers in DC, to BURN our food (CORN) for fuel (Ethanol) and to water down our gasoline so as not to disturb the cussed caribou and polar bears in a part of the world to darned cold for humans to consider developing anyway. ANWR sits there, where hardly anybody on the face of the planet will ever visit, on the off chance that SOMEDAY, SOMEONE might stumble upon it and say: ”OOOH! Isn’t that pretty!” JEEEZ!

It’s time to raise a little hell, Americans! It’s time to grab our congresspersons by the labels and read them the riot act… as we did with the Amnesty Bill a couple of summers ago. Unfortunately it seems the only way to get through that cloud of self-importance with which they have isolated themselves from their constituents.

If you think it’s bad now… just wait. You ain’t seen nothing yet!

Our current President has bought, wholesale, into the hoax of Global Warming, or as the PR people now refer to it: “Climate Change”. Americans can expect no relief from the Bovine Scatology about “saving the planet” with an administration run by Obama’s Politburo of his Central Committee. Congress is even worse, if that is possible! Having gone completely over to the “Dark Side,” the US Congress has adopted, and almost totally embraced, the socialist agenda while pushing out our democratic representative republic form of government. The single most important idea on Capital Hill these days is how to ensure the current crowd of old hippies and new socialists lock in their current positions of power over us and never have to worry about running for office as an incumbent and losing, ever again. Every day sees the socialist Congress digging in even deeper to secure their fat, cushy, jobs. If anything actually beneficial to the country happens to somehow squeak through, then, it is truly a wonder!

As I said… It’s time to raise a little Cain, my fellow Americans. Stack up the e-mails in their inboxes, choke their fax machines with messages, melt the switchboard with phone calls and if you have no other means, then write them a letter, but let them hear the anger and exasperation we are feeling with them and their asinine, infantile, and worst of all – their socialist way of legislating for the country. Of course the underlying truth is simple. If Americans want their government back, we will have to take it back at the polling places with the ballot. Currently we have a “run away” Congress unaccountable to the people who elected them. Socialism is the order of the day on Capital Hill. For all intents and purposes - the American people have NO real leadership in the Congress. In fact, it appears to those of us who chose up sides a very long time ago that the Congress has but one party, of which, the GOP is a part and no long a stand alone, viable, political party choosing, instead, to join the democrat/socialists in their campaign to savage America while turning her into the world’s newest socialist state.

America needs, at least, a two-party system and at this moment in our history, if we are totally honest with ourselves, we must admit that we have ONLY a one party system.

The MsM (or The Mainstream Media) or as some of our colleagues in the conservative movement have taken to referring to them…”The Government Controlled Press” immediately leapt upon the story of the single shooter at the Holocaust Museum and within near record time were associating him with the political right, or conservatives. You could see it coming from the moment the story broke. And, as is so often the case these days, they got it wrong!

The shooter was identified as a longtime neo-Nazi. One security guard was shot and killed. The 88-year-old shooter was, himself, shot, and as of this writing, was in critical condition.

Apparently our political leftist community decided to use the events at the Holocaust Museum to beat the conservative movement severely about the head and shoulders with stories of this truly awful incident by associating the lone gunman with the conservative movement itself. (Remember now, even the Department of Homeland Security recently identified those in the conservative movement as “Domestic Terrorists”.) There was just one problem with their efforts. Well, there was MORE than ONE problem with it, but the one that stands out and tends to make the leftist press, not only in America, but around the world, REALLY look foolish is the inconvenient fact that the shooter is not a conservative! Shocking! Absolutely shocking, what?

Turns out, the gunman is not a Christian. (Somehow the political left has decided that only rightists can be Christians. Go figure!) In fact, he is a SOCIALIST! He is reported to have made the statement: ““SOCIALISM, represents the future of the West.” I hardly think such a statement would indicate any connection to the conservative movement in “The West.”

Whatever happened to “research”? There was a time in the news business (anywhere on the globe – not just in this country) when journalist actually researched an article before rushing to the presses with words penned from their emotions rather than from careful consideration – and words which had been CHECKED OUT at least once, better yet, checked out three times from three different sources. Not anymore. As a result, this is the kind of reporting we get from a press that swears, with their ink-stained hands over their hearts, that they are unbiased in their reporting. The claim of unbiased reporting from today’s press is pure, unadulterated, Bovine Scatology!

There is an article you need to read just to get a flavor of how deeply the leftist press is willing to go to smear those of us on the right side of the political spectrum. The left, it would seem, are desperately attempting to re-define socialism. They have for years, now, been referring to conservatives as fascists. That could not be farther from the truth and has had me scratching my head for the SAME number of years wondering how in hell they could make THAT association. Then, I remembered the quality of our public education system in America. Anyone with a good, solid, education KNOWS, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that fascism is not associated, in any way, with the right, but with the left.

With a leftist/socialist President and a leftist/socialist Congress, and a political party, which has all but completely embraced the socialist agenda for America, they’re shuffling about as fast as an ant on the surface of a hot stove. What they fail to understand is - another of those inconvenient facts – “fascism is a totalitarian ideology concentrating all power in the hands of the State and thus not a conservative ideology but a creature of the Left.” (From Mr. Johnson’s article.)

If nothing else good comes of the Obama Regime, hopefully, the American public will finally understand what we conservatives have been decrying for decades now. I refer, of course, to the oh, so obvious pro-left-wing bias of the Mainstream Media in America - AND those countries around the globe that shared our democratic form of government WHEN WE STILL HAD a democratic form of government instead of the socialist government we have now.

In an AP article entitled: “Administration seeks ways to tame corporate pay”, Jim Kuhnhenn writes: “Talking tough but stepping gently, the Obama administration rejected direct intervention in corporate pay decisions Wednesday even as officials argued that excessive compensation in the private sector contributed to the nation's financial crisis.
Instead, the administration plans to seek legislation that would try to tame compensation through shareholder pressure and less management influence on pay decisions.” You’ll find the article HERE.

Notice the phrase “stepping gently.” Could it be the Obama socialists have suddenly become aware that the American people are becoming uneasy with his blatant socialism? Could it be the Democrat/Socialists in Congress are catching the dickens from their constituents back home and are applying some pressure on Obama and the boys to back off a bit? Could it be the socialists, now in charge of the American government, have suddenly understood the Bush Recession is all but over and the Obama Recession is JUST BEGINNING - to be followed immediately by the worse case of inflation this country has ever known? Could it be the Democrat/Socialist are just now coming to an awareness that THEY, not Bush, not the Republicans, not big business, THEY, the Democrat/Socialist and the Socialist-in-Chief, Obama himself, will go down in history as those responsible for the complete collapse of the American economic system? Could any of this be true?

We have said in earlier commentaries that the recession would have been over in a few months, likely by Christmas of 2009, had nothing been done and this unfortunate part of doing business as a capitalist nation been allowed to run it’s course. But, the Obama regime began throwing American’s money down those black holes almost as soon as his shadow graced the carpet of the Oval Office effectively bankrupting the nation. As a result, we are on the threshold of an even worse recession (This one owned by Obama and the Democrat/Socialists entirely!) and unimaginable inflation, and if the Congress can figure out how to do it, Americans are going to be slapped with massive tax increases to pay for their universal healthcare already dubbed ObamaCare.

Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of this republic, is credited with having said: “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” Franklin was, of course, correct. When one looks at the decided drift of the US toward socialism and the Obama juggernaut pushing with all it’s might in that same direction, one must fear for the continued existence of the United States as a viable country. And, yes, I DO understand how strong a statement that is. A few weeks ago, we warned that a National Healthcare bill, of some sort, would be making its way through Congress by the end of July. Looks as if I was off the mark - too far off the mark, actually. It now appears it could be any day now!

Over the weekend, David Axelrod, a senior White House Adviser, said that President Obama would soon push for a health-care reform plan. Axelrod said the President’s plan would call for the creation of a government-owned health-care company. He went on to predict that Congress would pass such a plan by the end of the summer.

This is called “Incrementalism,” dear reader. Obama knows if he hits us with the total Socialized Healthcare package, right out of the starting gate, it would be doomed to failure. So, he is falling back on the tried and true method of squeezing a little at a time out of the taxpayers in “increments”, so to speak, until one morning, not too far down the road from now, we will awaken to a whole new world of Socialized Medicine in America. Then we will have that wonderful healthcare, oh, say, like the British have. You know - where they have to extract their own teeth, or die while waiting in a queue for treatment for cancer, or wait weeks and months while some government committee decides who lives and who dies because healthcare has had to be rationed because the government system is out of money and the taxpayers simply cannot sustain another tax increase… and the nightmare just goes on and on and on ……

“Oh, but”, you say, “ The President is just creating a government owned insurance COMPANY… not universal healthcare.” To which I would be compelled to ask, “Have you not been paying attention?”

Look – private Insurance companies have no hope of survival in competition with a government owned insurance company. As with all government agencies it will be financed with your tax dollars and would never have to worry about meeting a budget, or making money for the stockholders - none of the ordinary problems faced by a private “for profit” company. Private insurers will be driven out of business until, in a very short time, there will be only ONE insurance company in America… the GOVERNMENT Insurance Company… or, as it will most likely be known…“Obamacare”! That’s when Americans get hit with the second increment of the plan… the entire universal healthcare plan including inferior medical care, massive tax increases, and healthcare rationing –and worse than all these, government control of your very LIFE! (There is an article at the Wall Street Journal Online titled: “How Washington Rations - ObamaCare omen: a case study in 'cost-control'” that will give you some insight into what you and I can expect in the way of healthcare rationing by the politicians in Washington once this new ObamaCare gets underway. I ran across an article, while doing a little research the other day, entitled “Dear America (Canada Warns US about Socialized Medicine).” We recommend you take a look at it. It is brief and to the point and well worth the couple or three minutes it will take you to read it. You’ll find it HERE. Understand this: I believe, as I said earlier, some sort of socialized Medicine legislation will be passed by the US Congress this year. Most likely it will be the ObamaCare government-owned insurance company. Just remember, it is only the beginning. It is, in fact, the beginning of your life as a serf, as a slave to the government. Because, you see, that is what socialism is - slavery by another name.

There has always been an excellent reason America was the only industrialized nation on earth without socialized medicine. Because we are, at least we WERE, a free and independent people who believed in ourselves, and in our God, to meet the challenges thrown at us by whatever and whomever and always find it within ourselves to stand our ground and overcome. Somehow, somewhere, along the way, we have lost that belief in ourselves. We have now become like so many of the countries to which we used to send missionaries.

I can recall when Americans were known for our rugged individualism, for our independence, for our undaunted “can do spirit”. Back in those days we won wars simply because it never entered our minds there was a possibility we COULD lose! America was different. We were a nation built from the human “cast offs” of the other nations of the planet. Those were the people who crossed vast oceans in the holds of ships with only the planking of a single deck separating them from the filthy bilges of the ship’s cesspools below them. All this they endured just for a chance, and ONLY a chance, to live and breathe free and take advantage of whatever opportunity this new land might, in its bounty, offer them.

Americans are a mongrel people, a mixed-breed, a hodge-podge of genes tempered in the crucible of hardship and molded in a unique form the world has never seen before. Made thusly, and armed with the belief that God was truly on our side, we were unstoppable by anyone or anything save ourselves.

The introduction of Socialism, by the former Democratic Party, has infiltrated our hearts, our minds, AND our souls, and replaced all the above with self-doubt and squashed our belief in ourselves until we have become a blob of malleable putty in the hands of a malicious spirit which has all but replaced our belief in ourselves and in our God. A nation thus disemboweled cannot long survive the onslaught of the nations so long embarrassed by our obvious superiority, which was earned by the sweat of hard work and dedication to the principal’s set down, in writing, by our founders in the Constitution and by our Creator in The Bible.

All this has brought America to a crossroads. Take the right road and we can regain our glory. Take the other and we become one of the mediocre nations who look with longing on their lost empires and their lost glory.

We Americans have a chance, albeit a small chance, to show some of the spine of our ancestors and stop this massive takeover of a huge portion of this nation’s treasury and an even greater portion of the self-respect of our citizens placed in our hands for safe keeping by the founders of this unique experiment in democracy.

They’re going to come at us fast and hard with everything they’ve got while attempting to keep us off balance, all the while, with one crisis after another, real or imagined.

We can do it - but it is going to require that we call on the last reserves we have of courage and determination and a deeper reliance on our God for guidance that we must be willing to unhesitatingly follow.

We have heard it over and over again: “Freedom is not free.” America is about to learn exactly why that claim was ever made and what it truly means.

The decision is a simple one. We must choose between socialism and slavery to the state, or democracy and freedom for ourselves and the generations of Americans yet unborn. And we must make that decision and act upon it today. There is no time to lose.

It worries me that our liberal friends seem, somehow, to think that showing one's fangs to an enemy is distasteful but cannot grasp how rolling over onto one's back and presenting one's soft underbelly can be construed as a definite show of weakness and servility. What Obama was doing in the Middle East recently was, in the eyes of the Middle Easterner, a definite sign of weakness and an open invitation to Muslim disdain and disgust. They will smile, take his hand in a demonstration of friendship, slip the political knife into his back, and wait for the moment of optimum opportunity to strike the Great Satan in his own home, wreaking murder and mayhem amongst a people so brilliantly stupid as to choose a leader so naive, so narcissistic, and so committed to punishing America for it’s excellence.

I continued to hear how Obama represented the answer to Muslim prayers, how he was going to fulfill their ultimate dreams, how so much of the Muslim world had penned so much of their hopes and dreams and desires onto one person and that one person was/is Obama. The Mainstream Media and the Government Controlled Media fawned all over Obama and his entourage. It became sickening.

But what is that one dream of the Muslim world they believe Obama can help them fulfill? Could it be the Muslim dream of a one-world caliphate, a single Muslim kingdom that would span the entire globe?

Many questions are being asked here in America about Obama’s apparent favoring of the Arabs over the Israelis, as well. Many American Jews who voted for Obama are looking at their vote and questioning whether or not they made a colossal mistake in supporting the man many of us on the conservative side of the aisle tried, desperately, to warn them against. Obama has made it clear that he intends to support a Two-State Policy with an Arab state called Palestine alongside the state of Israel. Methinks Mr. Obama has no idea the potential for trouble having a STATE of Palestine next door to Israel will cause. There will be a continual state of war. Israel having to protect itself against a stateless bunch of Arab refugees and Israel protecting itself against a State of Palestine is two entirely different things - and far more deadly.

So, as Americans, can we expect massive change in the way the US is viewed by the Muslim world? No. I think not. Well, I DO suspect there might be less respect for America amongst the Muslims after Obama’s trip. I mean, once you get past the fawning press corp based in America, it is not really difficult to see that Mr. Obama is a just a naive young man with a head full of socialist dreams and a burning desire to redistributed the wealth of America no matter the cost to the average American and the kids and grandkids, yet unborn, of those same Americans. Once the hype is toned down, and the deliberate smoke screen is lifted, only the self-delusional can still see Obama as something he is not –a populist messiah sent to save America from herself.

That “open dialogue” between America and the Muslim world, Mr. Obama says he is seeking, remains as illusive as ever, only now the Muslim world, including the Islamofacist terrorists, have even more information about the Obama Administration, and their weaknesses, and more information about the man - Obama.

Even before Obama’s plane went “wheels-up” there were “over-inflated expectations” for his tour of the Middle East. Now that the tour is over, it would seem to us the use of the term “over-inflated expectations” might, itself, have been an understatement.

Growing up as a teenager in the 1950s, I could not wait to get my license to drive and I liked the sporty look of the British MG. These days I drive a Volkswagen. In that short tale can be found the seeds of the end of the American auto industry.

Here’s some history. In 1952, the merger of several British auto companies resulted in the British Motor Corporation. It was the largest of its day with 39% of British output. Despite established dealerships for the various models, a series of poor management decisions resulted in the loss of market share.

By 1968, British Leyland was formed out of British Motor Corporation and became British Leyland Motor Corporation Ltd. In 1975, it was partially nationalized and the government became a holding company. UK market share barely changed and despite brands such as Jaguar, Rover and Land Rover, the government motor company continued its decline.

By 2005, the MG Rover Group went bankrupt, bringing to an end the production by British owned companies. The MG became part of Chinese Nanjing Automobile.

The 1970s were difficult economic times for the United Kingdom and its Labor government (1974-1979), as noted above, created a holding company with the government as the major shareholder. At that point British Leyland employed 159,000 people in its many divisions that included a bus and truck operation.

In 1984, Jaguar Cars became independent once more through a public sale of its shares, but the Leyland truck and bus operation was sold to Volvo in 1988. The Rover Group was sold by the government to British Aerospace that in turn sold it to BMW. Suffice it to say, the British auto industry is now largely owned by companies in other nations or operating as a mere shadow of its former self.

Anyone who thinks that General Motors will revive is wrong. As Larry Kudlow, the radio-TV business maven, recently wrote, “Taxpayers won’t get their money back” and that figure now stands at $50 billion.

Both GM and Chrysler should have been allowed to choose bankruptcy months ago, but the U.S. government in its infinite wisdom has thrown our money down a rat hole created by bad management and excessive labor union demands over the past four decades. Meanwhile, as was the case in the UK, Chrysler is now owned by an Italian auto manufacturer.

The U.S. government now owns GM, AIG an insurance company, and billions in housing mortgages through the government entities of Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae. Kudlow said, “We’re talking about hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars that will never be repaid.”

That news is bad enough, but consider now that the U.S. government has just increased the standards of how much mileage must be achieved from a gallon of gasoline at the very same time it demands that more of that gasoline be mixed with ethanol. Ethanol reduces mileage. President Obama has already made clear that he wants GM to manufacture “green” automobiles. No one will buy them.

The Telegraph, a British newspaper, recently did the math on the price of “green” cars, noting that the present UK models cost the equivalent of more than about $5,000 US. “To benefit from the difference in fuel efficiency, you would have to drive 198,000 miles, the equivalent of driving around the world eight times.” The same will apply to comparable American-made “green” cars.

Here in America, the biofuels industry receives a 45-cent tax credit for every gallon of ethanol or biodiesel it produces or about $3 billion a year. The US government requires that 10% of all gasoline be blended with these biofuels whether consumers want it or not. This mandate is scheduled to double by 2015.

Not only will the automobiles cost more and get less mileage per gallon, but the Congressional Budget Office last month reported that “the increased use of ethanol accounted for about 10% to 15% of the rise in food prices.” That’s because the main ingredient of ethanol is corn. That is insane.

At the same time, the government refuses to permit exploration and extraction of known oil reserves in the nation’s interior and off its continental coastal shelf despite estimates of literally billions of barrels of untapped oil.

In the Bakken Formation under North Dakota and Montana, there are an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil. And we’re not even talking about the billions of barrels off the coast of California, Florida and other coastal states. The U.S. by some estimates has eight times as much oil as Saudi Arabia, eighteen times as much as Iraq and twenty-two times as much oil as Iran.

There is one, single reason why we can’t get at those oil and natural gas reserves, as well as being denied access to the massive amounts of U.S. coal reserves. It is the environmental organizations that maintain a campaign against energy use in the nation.

The government is to blame, of course, but you can thank Greenpeace USA, Friends of the Earth, the Sierra Club, the Environmental Defense Fund, and the United Nations Environmental Program, among countless others that have fought against any and all development, any and all economic expansion and growth.

This campaign is coming to a head with a “Cap-and-Trade” bill making its way through Congress that would impose a huge tax on “greenhouse gas emissions” by every industry and business that produces or uses energy. It has no scientific justification. Even the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality has released a study demonstrating that the reduction of CO2 emissions would be minimal at best, but such reductions are absurd because there is no global warming.

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the midst of a historic economic crisis, at a time when such emissions will continue in other nations around the world, and when such emissions are known to have no effect whatever on a totally bogus “global warming” or “climate change” is a program for national suicide.

Government control of the auto industry is now merely a prelude to its eventual end. Jobs will disappear forever. “Green jobs” are a myth. The economy will suffer a grievous loss. And, if you draw the lessons from the British experiment, you can accurately predict the future of our auto industry.

Only if control of Congress by the Democrats is ended can measures be taken that will permit the nation to turn away from the destruction being inflicted upon it. Vote in October 2010 as if your life, your children’s lives, and your grandchildren’s lives depend upon it, because it does.

When a village raises your children, and those children reach voting age, you get a country with a government just like the US government today. You get a country with an economy just like the economy the US has today. You get a country with morals just like the morals the US has today, in other words - you get a socialist country, which is imploding, caving in, upon itself – just like America in 2009.

I submit to you that much, if not most, of what’s wrong with America today is a direct result of the way America’s children were raised. American parents abdicated their role as parents and teachers and instead allowed the village to do THEIR job for them.

There is no denying it - we allowed a village to raise our children and now we are paying the price. I am convinced our failure at child rearing is the cause of most of the crime and vandalism done in and to our towns and cities today. It is also the root cause of street gangs rivaling the murderous gangs of the old west -all because a village raised those kids.

In actuality, it takes a mom and a dad to take responsibility for their offspring and raise those children in the way they should go. It is the most important duty of every parent. As Solomon said: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is grown he will not depart from it.” The scriptures also teach us that: “as the twig is bent, so growth the tree”! There it is, folks. Child-Rearing 101!

Did you see anything about a village raising your child? I didn’t, either. A village raising a child is strictly a socialist idea. They know that if they can get hold to that young mind they can indoctrinate that child and create another leftist clone. And they are correct. They can. It has happened, already. If you need evidence to convince you all you need do is look at our government today. It is a socialist government.

If you are going to bring a child into this world… be prepared to raise that child and teach that child what it means to be an American. Teach him, or her, the freedoms, the privileges, and most importantly the responsibility, one has as an American toward his fellow Americans.

Daycare has caused more damage to the American family and the American society that an atom bomb would have caused! Mothers, going off to work and dropping their children off to be raised by a stranger. That stranger spends more time a week with their children than they do. And they wonder why they have discipline problems when they have their child at home? Think about it. The child is just a visitor in his own home. His real home is at the daycare center!

I remember that my mother decided she would go to work, soon after my younger brother was born. He was a toddler and I was no more than five years of age. The company provided a nursery school for the employees, so my mother and father dropped us off there on mother’s first day at work. It lasted almost an entire day. By the end of the day, I had managed to cuss out the lady in charge of the place, got slapped across the face so hard the full imprint of the lady’s hand was plastered all over the left side of my face… all because I did not like the way she was treating my brother and I went to his defense. She decided she would treat me the same way; I rebelled and told her to take her hands off me and called her a” white-headed old Bi-ch”! That’s when I got smacked. The lady was fired and my parents nearly sued the company… but for fear of losing my father’s job, they did not. Thus, ended my one, and only, personal experience with daycare! I remain proud of it to this day! And… I detest over zealous authority figures to this day.

No, a village cannot raise a child properly. Oh, sure, they can raise a child, but you get … well, what we have today, socialists, and young barbarians!

Young parents, if you want your child reared properly, with the values YOU believe in, and with the core beliefs of YOUR family, then YOU raise your child YOURSELF! If, on the other hand, you trust someone else’s values above your own, then you allow someone else to raise your kids. It’s as simply as that.

Buying that small car to save money on gasoline may end up costing you your life in exchange for that few dollars saved on fuel.

In a car crash, a driver is twice as likely to die in a small car as in a midsize car. Please note that the mid-size car is just one step up the size scale. So make the small cars safer, you say. Well, it can be done, but that will increase the weight of the car and, again, reduce the gas mileage. It all comes down to the Law of Physics. Here’s an example I saw on a site some time ago: Pit a 2,000 pound VW Rabbit against a 6,000 pound Hummer - and the Hummer wins every time. 53% of small-car deaths back in 2005 involved only small cars. Either a single small car crashed into something such as a guardrail or tree or two small cars crashed into each other, according to the NHTSA data. Learn more HERE.

In an article from the Wall Street Journal site titled: “Small Cars are Dangerous Cars” it is stated: “The death rate in minis in multi-vehicle crashes is almost twice as high as that of large cars. And in single-vehicle crashes, where there's no oversized second vehicle to blame, the difference is even greater: Passengers in minis suffered three times as many deaths as in large cars.” You’ll find the article HERE.

It surely seems as if there is a concerted effort to keep this information quiet. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is trying to get this information out to the auto buying public. Hardly anyone or any other organization is, however. Why? Answer: the government.

Back in 2002 a “National Research Council study found that the federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards contributed to about 2,000 deaths per year through their restrictions on car size and weight. But amazingly, with the exception of IIHS, there's practically no one else providing information on the size-safety issue” (Follow up HERE.) Where is the: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and/or the Environmental Protection Agency, on this issue? They are unusually quiet. Could it be no one wants to rock the boat? No one wants to admit the emperor has no clothes.

The government is insisting on better gas mileage across the fleet of American cars. Today’s technology will only allow automakers to reduce the weight of the car in an attempt to reach those gas mileage figures. Oh, sure, there are some other things the automaker can do, but even then nothing much happens - except the price of the auto goes up.

Look, our feeling is that if an American wants to drive a small car he/she should be able to buy it and drive it. On the other hand if he/she wants to own and drive a large car or truck, he/she should be able to do that, as well. But, now the nanny government, the socialist government of the left, has all but taken complete control of the car making business in America and they will dictate what is placed in the showrooms for you to choose from. Obama, the new socialist president of America, has said he will insist those automakers make “green cars” Translated that means, with today’s technology, tiny little plastic and aluminum cars with outer skins not much thicker than a beer can.

So, let’s get real for a moment. Americans, for the most part, don’t like tiny little cars. So, they are going to drag their heels at buying the things when they first hit the showrooms. All that money the American taxpayer shelled out to bailout the automakers will be lost. Every penny will be gone. But, the government is not going to relent on producing those tiny little coffins on wheels. But the question remains -how to force the American public to buy them? That is the burning question. The answer is simple. Raise the federal taxes on gasoline until the per gallon price of gasoline reaches 6, 7, 8, or even 10 dollars a gallon - and keep the per gallon price artificially high and that will drive the American car buying public into those pregnant roller skates that government motors calls cars.

Well, America, the Flower Children are in charge and they show almost as much sense as they did in their heyday back in the ‘60’s. Back then, facts were annoying little things that just got in the way of their feelings. In that, they have not changed.

Common sense, which is certainly not common anymore, says small cars will get more people killed on the American highways. The Flower Children in our government had much rather save the environment (which, by the way, is in no danger from mankind) than save the lives of fellow human beings. How much sense does that make? None. But it doesn’t have to make sense if it makes you feel good. Keep that in mind when dealing with our Hippie Government and it will help you understand what is going on in Washington these days.

If you have a suspicion that many of your fellow Americans are too stupid to trust with the great affairs of this nation, you might just be right, but you might not know why.

Take a look at the choices television offers. Do you ever wonder why shows featuring stupid people or animated characters are so popular? I cite The Simpsons, Family Guy, Two and a Half Men, My Name is Earl, et al. Why do we enjoy laughing at stupid people? Does it make us feel smarter?

Does the shallowness of so much that passes for entertainment or even passing itself off as educational actually reflect the lives of those watching? The answer is probably yes and they didn’t get that way by accident. The education system of America has been deliberately fashioned to create a docile, easily controlled population. And that means YOU.

There is a book available that explains why “Every single school day in America, 7,000 students drop out, some confused, some angry, but all are brave…What does it say to us that a million and a quarter young people a year don’t want to be in classrooms, don’t want to be there so much they’re willing to endure scorn, insult, and constant discrimination as the price of escape?”

The book is John Taylor Gatto’s “Weapons of Mass Instruction: A School Teacher’s Journey through the Dark World of Compulsory Schooling.” ($24.95, New Society Publishers).

“The rigid stupidities of forced schooling, its linear logics, its bell curves, its buzzers and tests and multiple humiliations, its resort to magical spells, fills me with rage these days as an old man,” wrote Gatto, a former acclaimed teacher of the year.

Today’s (and for several generations yesterday’s) schools are factories of boredom. They don’t exist to educate, but to produce students who will obey rules, dutifully move from class to class when the bell rings, and accept nonsense like “fuzzy math” and “global warming.” The No Child Left Behind Act of 2009 includes $500 million for the teaching of ‘Environmental Literacy’ when real literacy rates—the ability to read—have been dropping like a stone in water for decades. They are a national disgrace.

Why can’t our schools teach reading or arithmetic skills when even pre-school toddlers can learn these things if given the opportunity? Why are we spending $10,000 per student, per year, to produce such poor results? Why would anyone willingly spend their youth cooped up in classrooms when they could be out in the “real world” learning real skills of their own choosing, learning from open sources of information?

And why wouldn’t they flee schools where life is dangerous? Since last September, 20 Chicago Public School students have been killed, 18 by gunfire. Last year, 24 of the more than 30 students killed were shot to death. Nationally, homicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10 to 24 in 2004. Elsewhere in the nation bullying is widespread. School in America is too often a very unpleasant experience dominated by boredom.

The American school system as we know it today was imported from Germany in the 1850s. As America’s industrial base boomed in the years following the end of the Civil War, the need was for millions of immigrants to do the often difficult manual work involved in making steel, building railroads, and manufacturing the first automobiles and countless other inventions that burst on the scene. Industrialists, men like Rockefeller and Carnegie, decided that compulsory education was the best way to produce not just a functional work force, but people conditioned to purchase the bounty of new goods.

The bible of the compulsory educational system was Benjamin Bloom’s two-volume “Taxonomy of Educational Objectives.” Gatto describes him as “an academic madman” in whose system “children would be forced to learn ‘proper’ thoughts, feelings, and actions, while ‘improper’ attitudes from home were ‘remediated.’” In other words, schools were to be laboratories of social change designed to serve business and industry.

This has led to schools where students are literally drugged if they show any vitality or curiosity. The more docile are simply on a treadmill, so much human sausage to be processed. Indeed, why should we wonder why drug addiction is such a massive social problem in an America filled with people who were either trained to be cogs in some faceless corporation or told early in life they were failures?

Since you no doubt passed through this process, it may in retrospect become more clear why schools as often fail to educate the students entrusted to them, than not. The excuses for this are many, but the most popular is that less privileged students in urban centers are virtually doomed to failure from birth. This is not true. Given the opportunity to learn in charter or parochial schools, they do as well or better.

The best of our students today are home-schooled. They win the spelling and geography bees. Some of the nation’s great leaders of the past never attended school. They include George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln. They self-schooled themselves with great success and they did it early in life, often before they reached their teens.

In modern times, the secrets of the Human Genome Map were cracked by a surfer named Craig Venter and a born-again Christian home-schooler named Frances Collins. Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Airlines and other ventures dropped out of high school. The examples of those who self-schooled themselves to success are numerous and put the lie to the jails, often with on-site police, that we call modern schools.

Our nation’s schools have been failing generations of Americans, particularly since around the 1960s and, despite no mention in the Constitution, education is now totally controlled by the federal government and by the powerful teachers union, the American Education Association.

It is truly no laughing matter when Jay Leno asks simple questions of people in the streets to reveal time and again how little actual knowledge they possess. They are the products of our school system.

The United States is falling behind many other nations in educating its citizens.

Tellingly, China takes schooling and learning seriously. Its students all learn English, knowing they may become part of their nation’s international legion, likely to be the next great world power. While China builds coal-fired plants for energy and locks in deals for oil, our government calls coal “dirty” and refuses to permit exploration of our vast offshore continental shelf for oil and natural gas.

It takes a special kind of stupidity to deny one’s own nation the energy it requires to grow, to force corporations to move overseas, to take control of industries such as banking and automobile manufacturing without having the slightest idea how to run them.

It’s the stupidity that is the result of a nationwide school system that prolongs childhood while making learning an unpleasant chore.

The climate “crisis” is a “moral issue that requires serious debate,” Al Gore proclaimed in an April 27 AlGore.com blog post.

His conversion to the Anglo-American tradition of robust debate came a mere three days after the ex-VP refused to participate in a congressional hearing with Lord Christopher Monckton, former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Republicans had invited Monckton to counter Gore’s testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

But Gore froze like a terrified deer in headlights, and Chairman Henry Waxman told the UK climate expert he was uninvited.

Their hypocritical cowardice simply reflects a recognition that their entire energy rationing crusade would collapse if they ever allowed real debate.

Monckton would have focused on the science. But it is morality that truly requires serious debate. Climate Armageddon claims are being used to justify malignant policies that have no rational basis.

Global average temperatures peaked in 1998 and since have cooled slightly, despite steadily rising CO2 levels. Except in its Western Peninsula, Antarctica is gaining ice, and Antarctic sea ice reached an all-time high in 2007. Arctic ice is seasonably normal, and in 2008 the Northern Hemisphere was covered by more snow than ever before recorded.

Scientists are hard-pressed to point to long-term state or country climate trends that differ from historic experience and can reasonably be linked to anthropogenic warming crises. Merely asserting that obesity causes warming or increased malaria and house cat populations are due to warming does not make it so.

Even more devastating to alarmist claims, long-held assumptions about the deep Atlantic counter-current or “conveyor belt” below the Gulf Stream have been undermined by recent studies. Those assumptions underlie many climate models and their scary worst-case scenarios about alleged planetary crises. The models and GIGO scenarios are now even more questionable.
Yet, model results are constantly portrayed as “evidence” – “proof” that immediate, drastic action is required to avert disaster. Nonsense. Climate changes and their causes are complex, our knowledge is still limited, and the inputs and assumptions are deficient.

Climate models are no more reliable than computer predictions of future Super Bowl winners and scores. Their Frankenstein scenarios are no more valid as a basis for law and policy than the special effects in The Day After Tomorrow or Jurassic Park.

Worse, even the 942-page Waxman-Markey climate bill’s absurd target – a 17% reduction in US carbon dioxide emissions by 2020 and 83% by 2050 – would have no detectable benefits, even if CO2 does cause climate change. Research climatologist Paul “Chip” Knappenberger calculates that even these draconian measures would result in global temperatures rising a mere 0.1 degrees F less by 2050 than doing nothing, mostly because Chinese and Indian emissions would quickly dwarf America’s job-killing reductions.

Meanwhile, China and South Africa want developed nations to slash carbon emissions 40% by 2020 – and give poor countries $200 billion annually, to help them cope with global warming’s imagined disasters. Bolivia wants $700 billion a year. Our children will get the bill for that, too.
None of this apparently matters to congressional leaders, Climate Action Partnership members or other professional alarmists and rent seekers. If anything, it has spurred them into even hastier action, to transform America’s energy and economic system, regardless of the consequences. Waxman-Markey was approved by the E&C Committee May 21 on a mostly party-line vote.

Above all, they want to replace vile hydrocarbons with wind power. That would require $$$ billions in taxpayer subsidies; hundreds of thousands of turbines, across millions of acres of scenic land, habitats and sea lanes; thousands of miles of new transmission lines and towers; and billions of tons of concrete, steel, copper and fiberglass – plus raw materials and natural gas for backup generators.

Spain’s experience should be cautionary, but probably won’t be. According to a study by Dr. Gabriel Calzada, Spanish taxpayers spent $754,000 for each new job in the wind turbine industry (mostly installing towering turbines) – and destroyed 2.2 regular jobs for each “green” job, primarily because pricey “renewable” electricity forced companies to lay off workers, to stay in business.

A recent Lauer Johnson Research poll found 78% of respondents saying even a $600 per year increase in utility bills would be a “hardship.” They should be so lucky.
Compared to no cap-and-tax regime, Waxman-Markey would cost the United States a cumulative $9.6 trillion in real GDP losses by 2035, according to an updated study by the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis. The bill would also cost an additional 1.1 million jobs each year, raise electricity rates 90% after adjusting for inflation, cause a 74% hike in inflation-adjusted gasoline prices, and add $1,500 to the average family’s annual energy bill, says Heritage.

The Congressional Budget Office says the poorest one-fifth of families could see annual energy costs rise $700 – while high income families could see their costs rise $2,200 a year. Harvard economist Martin Feldstein estimates that the average person could pay an extra $1,500 per year for energy. MIT says household energy costs could climb $3,000 per year.

Where will families find that extra cash? “What do I tell a single mom, making $8 an hour?” asked North Carolina congressman (and Congressional Black Caucus member) G. K. Butterfield.
That was a few days before he and his Democrat colleagues voted against amendments to Waxman-Markey that would have suspended the punitive law if electricity prices go up more than 10% after inflation, unemployment reaches 15% or gasoline prices hit $5. What will he tell that single mom?

Eco-activists gleefully predict that oil, gas and coal companies, utilities, vehicles and investors are destined for extinction. No wonder lobbyists have descended on Washington – over 2,300 of them just on climate change: 4.4 per member of Congress.

Some are getting $400-$850 an hour for their skill in promoting mandates, subsidies, legal measures to hobble competitors, and cap-tax-and-trade versions of the mortgage derivatives market. Al Gore alone boasts of having received $300 million (from unnamed sources) to trumpet alarmism and draconian legislation.

Colleges, scientists, activists, unions and companies receive billions in taxpayer money, to hype climate chaos claims, intimidate skeptics and lobby Congress. African bureaucrats get millions from the UN (and thus US taxpayers) to hype climate disaster claims that keep millions of Africans impoverished and deprived of the life-enhancing benefits of reliable, affordable electricity.

President Obama says the Bush Administration “made decisions based upon fear, rather than foresight, and all too often trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions.” He and his Democrat allies in Congress should take that critique to heart on global warming.

As it stands, this Congress is rapidly shaping up to be the most unethical, immoral and dictatorial in history. When the people finally rebel, it won’t be a pretty sight.

OK, so what IS Christian Zionism, anyway? I was surprised to learn, over the weekend, that I had never heard the term before – or if I had, it had completely flown right by me without mussing even a single hair on my rather thick head! Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about Christian Zionism:

Christian Zionism is a belief among some Christians that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land, and the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, is in accordance with Biblical prophecy. It overlaps with, but is distinct from, the nineteenth century movement for the Restoration of the Jews o the Holy Land, which had both religiously and politically motivated supporters.

Some Christian Zionists believe that the "ingathering" of Jews in Israel is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus. This belief is primarily, though not exclusively, associated with Christian Dispensationalism. The idea that Christians should actively support a Jewish return to the Land of Israel, along with the parallel idea that the Jews ought to be encouraged to become Christian, as a means fulfilling a Biblical prophecy has been common in Protestant circles since the Reformation. The term Christian Zionism was popularized in the mid-twentieth century. Prior to that time the common term was Restorationism.

Many Christian Zionists believe that the people of Israel remain part of the Chosen People of God, along with the in-grafted (based on Romans 11:17-24, Holy Bible) Gentile Christians. This has the added effect of turning Christian Zionists into supporters of Jewish Zionism.

Now let us turn to an article in June 2009 edition of “The Lutheran” magazine, a publication of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, (ELCA) a denomination, which has my name engraved on its rolls ONLY because it would embarrass my wife to near death if I resigned my membership and ANYONE found out! But, in the interest of full disclosure, allow me to explain that I no longer attend services, and haven’t, since the church, in my humble opinion, was taken over by hardcore leftists and, somehow, lost it’s way in it’s mission to spread the Gospel (the Good News of Jesus) and appears dangerously close to having replaced a scriptural doctrine with a secular doctrine. (This is another of those instances when I sincerely hope I am wrong for I have a deep and abiding love for the Lutheran Church.) For, you see, I believe in “sola scriptura” (from the Latin meaning: “by scripture alone.”) and for me, as a protestant that means that I maintain that the Scripture alone is the authority for the people of God. For my Roman Catholic friends, however, I respect your different interpretation. I reserve the right to disagree, but I do respect your position.

The article I mentioned above can be found HERE. (If you have the current hard copy issue you will find the article begins on page eighteen.) Once you read the article you will quickly see why I separated myself from active membership in the denomination.

On page 23 under the caption “Key Terms” Christian Zionism is defined this way: “Political action, informed by specifically Christian commitments, to promote or preserve Jewish control over the geographic area now comprising the State of Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. Not all Christian Zionists are motivated by end-times speculation.”

MY definition goes something like this: I am a Christian Zionist because one: I am a Christian - and two: because the land in question belongs to Israel traditionally, historically, and in every other way that counts. Add to that the fact that there has never been a land of Palestine or a Palestinian people. (Who was the last Palestinian king? Where is the capital city of Palestine?) Those refugees who lay claim to the name of Palestinians and also lay claim to the land of Israel have bogus claims.

I have never read a single one of the “Left Behind” books. Not interested. In my humble opinion they are based on a flawed premise, therefore they can be dangerous to those who read them without a solid base in real history, not the revisionist stuff passed off by today’s academia as the real thing. Plus, for those with only a passing knowledge of the scriptures that kind of literature can be extremely dangerous.

I just happen to believe that Israel has the only legitimate claim to the land of Israel and I support their claim. By some definitions, as noted above, that makes me a Christian Zionist. I also believe the Jews remain God’s Chosen People as Saint Paul said, (“I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin….” From the eleventh chapter of the book of Romans) and, I believe, as a Christian, I am expected to love them and/or “bless” them. You see, I recognize God's biblical commands for Christians to support the Jewish people. Some biblical scholars tell me that belief puts me, and all like me, in a special group of Christians - and I am hated for it.

As I delved deeper into what Christian Zionists are today, I found that Christian Zionists are "Biblical advocates" for the Jewish people and the state of Israel. Furthermore, they stand in firm, diametrical, opposition to land concessions of any sort which involve the forfeiture of the holy land of Israel as it is a sacred manifestation of the promises of God to the people He calls the "apple of His eye". (Learn more HERE.) That pretty much sums up my own stance on “land concessions.” and the Two State Policy the Obama Administration is attempting to foist onto the people of Israel this very day.

Now, I want to tread softly here. What I am about to say will be difficult for some of you to hear and some of you will never accept it’s validity.

Here’s the way I see it: I cannot support a Two-State Policy (a State of Israel and a State of Palestine) when that policy involves giving away land, which was given to Israel by God (If one believes the scripture.). It is my considered opinion that no man has a right to interfere with such a divine endowment. For any nation, even the United States of America, to force Israel to go against the dictates of God, can only bring destruction upon that nation. And so, with those few words I shall forever be known as a “Christian Zionist.”

So, why, then, am I writing what some will see as a “religious” piece here on what is normally a political site? Because this is one of those instances in which religion and politics manage to crash, smack-dab, into each other. For whether one wishes to believe it, or not, the vast majority of Americans, both left and right, are people of religion. From the earliest explorers of this land, who came ashore bearing a sword (politics) and a cross (religion) right up to the modern era, religion and politics have never been completely divorced from each other. Now, especially now, that we are neck deep in the birthplace of the world’s three major religions it would be a fool’s folly to think, for one minute, that we can navigate the political minefield before us without major clashes over religion and politics. It is an equal folly to believe the Obama Administration can tiptoe through that minefield with impunity. It is not going to happen.

So, as one of those hated “Christian Zionists,” I offer this warning: Strap in! We are in for a very bumpy ride ahead in our dealings with Israel and the so-called Palestinians, and Israel and the Iranians. Either we, the US, get out of the way and allow Israel to be Israel, and deal with those problems as she sees fit, or we can interfere and get hammered. Judging from the performance of the Obama Administration to date, it is not difficult to predict which course his government will take. It is the wrong course and it will cost the US dearly, and in the end, America will still be fighting wars in the Middle East many decades from now.
