We Can’t Win In Afghanistan!

I don't think a war is winnable in Afghanistan. Even if we won... how would we know???? Hamid Karzai is a joke! President of WHAT, exactly? A city block, perhaps?

Don't you know our top brass are pulling their hair out about now? How many, do you suppose, are lusting after retirement? How many are embarrassed to be serving under the boy Commander-in-Chief? How many are looking for the door to the Pentagon? Look. Let’s get this straight: Obama isn’t Alexander the Great! (He may think of himself as Obama the Great!) The man is not even a decent armchair general!

When I see our national treasure, our young men (and now young women), being used for cannon fodder in a misguided attempt to elevate nothing more than leftist/socialist ideals, it just makes me sick!

The war in Afghanistan is now Obama’s war. Like it, or not, that is the way it is and it will be forever thought as such… especially by the men and women who have to fight it.

Look, the Afghanis have been fighting, since, well, FOREVER! As far back as Afghan history goes there is the parallel story of an Afghan insurgency. Look it up! For the last 30 years Afghanistan has been fighting a civil war. Now, recall the trepidation our Congress had over US troops becoming involved in a civil war in Iraq. Remember? Now, however, with one of their own in the White House, it is perfectly OK to involve American troops in a civil war in Afghanistan? How do they figure that?

I learned recently that we have dropped more bombs on Afghanistan that we have dropped on Iraq! I also learned that the Afghanistan police force we have been training... well, it seems they are being killed off faster than we can get them trained, in uniform, and out on the streets! Afghanistan is a wild and wooly place.

Now, I am not one of those gung-ho armchair generals who is all for inserting US troops into a fight and when the going gets rough raise cries to Congress to get them out! No, that is not my way. BUT, having said that, I understand there is a time and a place to fight and a time and a place to not get involved. Problem is… we are already involved.

There is the story, and I cannot confirm it, that among the brave men in the Alamo, so outnumbered by Santa Anna’s Mexican Army and facing certain defeat and death, the commanding officer Travis brought them together and explained the situation and invited those who wanted to leave to do so. The story goes that one Frenchman, a former solider in Napoleon’s army, elected to leave. When asked why an obviously brave man would choose to leave, he answered that if there was even a slim chance of winning he would stay and fight to the death. But no such chance existed. Therefore to stay, and die, would be a waste. So he went over the wall and away to safety.

We cannot win in Afghanistan. Not ever. The best we can hope for is to be able to manage the fighting. But an outright victory is unattainable. It ain’t gonna happen. Unfortunately, we may even wind up with a “meat grinder” situation, much like Vietnam, with a steady stream of American bodies being flown back to the states for burial.

Some say we CAN win the war in Afghanistan, but first we must win the hearts and minds of the Afghanis. That is pure bovine scatology. Again, for those of you too young to remember, that was the policy in Vietnam. Winning the hearts and minds of the ordinary people. The problem is, you see, the ordinary Afghani does not think or exist as the ordinary American does. Where that policy might work on the people of a western culture, it has a snowball’s chance in hell of working on an eastern culture. It is not even worth consideration.

And there is the dope. The national economy is founded on the growing of Opium/Heroin poppies in Afghanistan. If we destroy the dope fields, and if, somehow, we make it impossible for them to grow the dope, what will they replace it with? Have you seriously looked at the land there?

“U.N. drug control officers said the Taliban religious militia has nearly wiped out opium production in Afghanistan -- once the world's largest producer -- since banning poppy cultivation last summer.

Last year, Afghanistan produced nearly 4,000 tons of opium, about 75 percent of the world's supply, U.N. officials said. Opium -- the milky substance drained from the poppy plant -- is converted into heroin and sold in Europe and North America. The 1999 output was a world record for opium production, the United Nations said -- more than all other countries combined, including the "Golden Triangle," where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet.” SOURCE.

The State Department counter narcotics official said the department would make its own estimate of the poppy crop. Information received so far suggests there will be a decrease, but how much is not yet clear, he said, speaking on condition of anonymity."We do not think by any stretch of the imagination that poppy cultivation in Afghanistan has been eliminated. But we, like the rest of the world, welcome positive news."The Drug Enforcement Administration declined to comment.” SOURCE. (Note: This story dates from 1999) Did the DEA know something the others didn’t? My guess is that they did and they do.

There has never been a successful invasion and occupation of Afghanistan by a military force of any size. Alexander the Great took Afghanistan. But it took him three years to “conquer” it as opposed to the six months it took him to conquer Iran. But he didn’t occupy it.

Even today the flow of arms, coming into Afghanistan from Pakistan, remains unabated. Some say Iran is behind the arms smuggling. There is the suspicion that Russia is actually aiding the insurgency as a way to retaliate against the US and NATO. Some reports have Iran assisting the illicit opium and heroin trade as a way to weaken the western efforts in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is most likely the most lawless place on the planet today. To bring any semblance of peace to that country will take far and away more troops than we have committed to the effort today and far more troops than we have to commit.

But, it is now Obama’s War. Regardless of what the liberal press tells you Obama’s stamp IS on the Afghan War. He cannot duck this one.

It will be most interesting over the next year or two to see how the Obama press will handle the reports coming out of Afghanistan as they try to put a successful face on a hopeless cause. And try they will. Never doubt it.

Conservative “Talkers” Will Soon Be Gone!
Democrat/Socialists going after “Talk Radio” with a vengeance!

Speaking as an old, veteran, broadcaster, I can tell you, I see the handwriting on the wall. Forget what the socialists in Congress are telling you as well as the press. The Socialists intend to pass a law that will force radio stations to get those conservatives talkers off the air, or lose their licenses to operate their stations… and, if I am correct, those stations licenses will be up for grabs. The truth is, as I see it, minorities filing for those licenses will get preferential treatment by the FCC and eventually be awarded those same licenses.

Look, for those who don’t know …the Federal Communications Commission is GOD in the broadcasting Industry. They have the power of life and death for a broadcast station in America. You probably don’t know this (unless you are a broadcaster) but broadcasting is one of the most highly regulated industries in the country. The government has its nose into every cussed thing you do as a broadcaster. Oh, the FCC will play humble and swear they don’t involve themselves in the daily grind of broadcast stations but that is unadulterated bovine scatology! Every broadcaster knows they do.

Back in my day, FCC field agents would come into a town, 35 miles away, rent a motel room, and set up their receiving and recording devices in a motel room and tape record and listen to hours, and even days, of broadcast stations in the town and nearby towns. Then, they would send out letters reprimanding stations for errors committed while they were listening and recording what was broadcast.

I heard the story that some of broadcasters became fed up and set up a network of their own to watch for, observe, and report to all the stations in the area when the FCC was anywhere their neck of the woods. They created a telephone network to make sure that all the stations received word when the FCC field agents checked into to any motel or hotel in their area. Those dreaded agents would make that visit about every three months.

Every hour, minute, and second of every broadcast day had to be accounted for… in writing. In my day, we were required to keep on-air program logs of everything we did. And we had to be able to produce those logs when the FCC came calling. Stations were fined for nearly every infraction of rules and regulations that had the force of law because Congress gave that power to the FCC.

Other than selling commercial time to support ourselves and, hopefully, make a profit for the owners and stockholders, the biggest headache we had was Public Affairs programming. Local broadcasters, you see, are in touch with their public. Unlike the bigwigs in Washington, in the Congress and on the FCC, broadcasters know what their listeners want to hear. They live among them. Their kids go to the same schools as the kids of their listeners and sponsors, they go to the same churches, they belong to the same civic clubs, heck, the LOCAL BROADCASTER IS THE PUBLIC! They know, far better than the fat cats in DC, what their listeners want to hear. And believe me, when I tell you, Public Affairs programs is NOT WHAT THE AVERAGE RADIO LISTENER WANTS TO HEAR! You can almost HEAR the dials being turned, en masse, when a public affairs program begins on a local radio station. And yet, under the old Fairness Doctrine a certain percentage of your weekly airtime HAD to be Public Affairs. In a small market, in the Bible Belt, 90% of everything going on has some connection to the church, or churches. But that is “religious” and does not count as Public Affairs. Nobody, including the government, seemed to know exactly WHAT public affairs really was. It was ambiguous as heck, to say the least!

When the Reagan administration canned the Fairness Doctrine, it was akin to being let out of prison. AM radio stations were for sale all over the country. Nobody wanted them. Many AM station owners simply went out of business and turned their license back to the FCC, shut their doors, and walked away taking a huge financial hit. A family member took a near $100,000 dollar loss on his AM Station gamble. In some case stockholders owned combos (AM/FM stations combined) would sell the FM station and GIVE THE AM STATION TO THE BUYER! THAT’S how bad it really was.

When the old Fairness Doctrine was lifted AM Stations could then put on the air what their listeners wanted to hear… and… they wanted to hear conservative talkers. BOY, did they want to hear conservatives! When a conservative talker went on the air telephones began ringing among listeners informing each other of the frequency of the stations carrying the conservative talkers. Listeners flocked to the stations with conservative talkers and, in weeks, so did sponsors who wanted to reach those listeners.

Station income soared, then profits soared, and stockholders were happy, listeners were happy, sponsors were happy, and station managers were ecstatic! The AM broadcast spectrum had been saved!

The plain truth is Americans really like to listen to conservative talkers on the radio. That is a fact. You can argue the whys and the wherefores forever and it won’t matter. The American public, for whatever reason, loves to listen to Rush, and Imus, and Hannity, and Beck and all the other conservative talkers. Personally, I think it has something to do with the upbeat way conservatives tend to address life and the daily trials of living and, yes, politics in America. Conservatives don’t hang a guilt trip on the listener, they don’t whine and they don’t talk down to their listeners. The naiveté of the liberals and their childish approach to life and politics is a real turn off to Americans who, generally speaking, are adult enough to find the liberal approach anathema to their way of thinking and their way of life. Thus, listeners turn away from liberal pubic affairs shows and turn to conservative talk shows. Honestly, I think it is just that simple.

But now we have the enemies of talk radio, more precisely… conservative talk radio, firmly in control of the White House and Congress. Their socialist schemes cannot work if conservative talk radio is allowed to shine the light of truth on their machinations in the nations capital. So, they are planning a full, all out attack on conservative talk radio.

They intend to use federal regulations to shut up Rush and his ilk. They intend to revive the Fairness Doctrine, which would demand that stations air … uh… “diverse” points of view. Broadcast station owners will be scared witless to do this because it could easily cause them all sorts of woe including a host of lawsuits and fines from federal agencies in Washington. So, what will station owners do? They will simply take the conservative talk shows off their stations and they won’t have to worry about those lawsuits and fines from DC. That’s the way it works. The Socialists in Congress and the White House will be pleased because they will have gotten the in thorn in their flesh, the conservative talk shows, out.

For our part, we think it is time for the old “Pirate Radio Stations” to spring up once again. For those of you too young to remember…these were stations, offshore, outside US territorial waters, beaming their broadcasting back into the US. The FCC can’t touch them. Then, there were the stations across the southern border in Mexico, big, powerful, radio stations blasting their signals northward into the US. The FCC couldn’t touch them, either. There is satellite radio already. But, satellite radio, if not already under the control of the government, soon will be.

Of course there is the Internet… and that is where the talkers will go, immediately, I expect. But it is not the same thing.

If the Socialist in Congress and the White House have their way, Americans will be huddled around their radios in the dark of night, much like the folks in Nazi occupied Europe, listening for the voice of reason and conservatism on little crystal radio sets, made from wire, razor blades, and a block of wood. This is what America is becoming, dear reader, a police state. And those loving, tolerant, liberals, turned socialist, will have brought it to you.

Now… aren’t you proud you voted for Obama?

The story is told that a Chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to tell this to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to our way of life then you will probably disregard this, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

American citizens need, desperately, to listen and observe what is going on today in Washington, DC. Bailouts, nationalization of businesses, and US government take-overs of banks, and other financial institutions are the opening gambits of a socialist regime currently in power in our nation’s capital. We need to listen closely to what the Congress and the President are saying and doing and promising us.

SOME of us warned this would happen. We were sneered at, and made fun of, and, in some cases, ostracized. Now the painful truth is coming out as Americans slowly wake up and learn they have given their country away to a socialist regime. Now, just maybe, Americans will be able to tell who is about to slam the gate on America!

Maybe the "make believe" logo above (for a yet to be organized “NEW” political party in America?) is not as… er… funny as it may first have appeared to you. If it angered you, think about the implications and look about you and observe what is happening in the USA today. Then, think about what you can do as a citizen of the USA to save your country… the country our forefather left in our keeping. Then, think about how badly we have let them down, as well as all the men and women who have given their lives in the fight to preserve this democratic representative republic.

These are, indeed, the “times that try men’s souls.”

Does it sometimes seem like everything you read, see or do has the word “Green” attached to it?

We have a Green President and a Green Congress. More and more products and services tout themselves as Green. We are paying more and more with greenbacks—dollars—that are in danger of losing what value they once had.

Green was not always the great, amorphous dream of achieving oneness with Mother Earth. People still talk about being “Green with envy” or “Turning Green” just before a projectile vomit attack.

We have reached this nauseating time in our society as the result of a vast environmental movement, truly worldwide, that are masters of propaganda and possessed of the millions necessary to brainwash a lot of people into accepting an endless assault on all the advancements in science, engineering, and technology we accept as part of our everyday lives.

So, naturally, the World Wildlife Fund has come up with “Earth Hour”, an event in which at 8:30PM, Saturday night, in everyone’s respective time zone, people will be asked to turn off their lights and, presumably, the use of all electricity to increase awareness of “energy conservation.”

Two questions: What does this have to do with wildlife? And why should anyone bother?

What need is there to “conserve energy?” One either uses it or does not. You can’t “conserve” it. You can use more or less of it, but you cannot save it up for later. Electricity is always “now.”

Is the Earth running out of coal? Hardly, the Chinese can’t build coal-fired plants fast enough to generate the electricity to grow their economy. In India, they’re launched on a huge program to build nuclear plants for the same reason. A nation without adequate electricity is strictly Third World.

Nor is the Earth running out of oil? The rumor is that there’s vast amounts in the Arctic and both the U.S. and Russia are making nasty noises at one another to ensure that neither one or the other gains control of it. Brazil just struck oil way offshore of its beautiful beaches and you don’t hear them complaining about it.

The U.S., of course, has vast untapped reserves of oil offshore and an estimated 3 to 4.3 BILLION barrels of it in the Bakken Formation under North Dakota and Montana. There’s oil under Utah as well. We’re not running out of oil in the United States. We just can’t drill for it thanks to Congress and the White House.

We can’t build coal-fired plants either because the Greens keep telling us that coal is “dirty.” The electricity it provides—just over half of all that’s used nationwide—isn’t dirty. Soon, though, they’re won’t be enough of it because our Green President thinks that solar and wind can provide it. It can’t and it won’t. Ever.

There’s just one way to “conserve” energy. Don’t use it. Don’t turn on the light. Don’t turn on the computer. Don’t turn on the television. Unplug your refrigerator, your heating and cooling system. Don’t wash and dry your clothes in a machine. Don’t use it.

Otherwise, the next moron that talks about conserving energy should be stuffed in a barrel and allowed to float over the Niagara Falls which, during Earth Hour, will not be lighted.

We will all be treated to the idiotic sight of a darkened Empire State Building and other similar structures around the world such as the Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, Las Vegas strip, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the London Eye Ferris wheel, and the Pyramids of Egypt.

For a whole hour they will go dark to remind us to “conserve energy” that does not need conserving. It needs to be expanded into parts of the world where there is no electricity and, as a result, there is no economy which is another way of saying there is a lot of poverty, sickness, and early death.

The 13^th amendment to the US Constitution specifically states:

Amendment XIII

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

I begin this commentary with the 13^th amendment because, in my opinion, the folks in charge of the government of the United States are shredding the US Constitution. The GIVE ACT is just another example of how they are doing it.

Look, volunteering is NOT VOLUNTEERING when YOU ARE ORDERED TO VOLUNTEER! This abomination called the GIVE ACT is nothing more than involuntary servitude. That’s SLAVERY, FOLKS! SLAVERY!

We warned America that an Obama administration would be a socialist administration and we warned America that socialism would bring slavery. Well, here it is!
There is nothing quite like volunteering when you are ordered to do so, now is there?

The so-called Mandatory Youth Service Bill, or GIVE ACT, is nothing more than Obama’s troops ordering your children to go into training to become good little socialist boys and girls. For those of us who got an education even in the public education system in America… before the unions took over… the very thought of a mandatory youth service act, of any kind, sends shivers up our spines. We remember, all too well, the youth movements in Germany, especially the Hitler Youth and the Browshirts.

I am convinced this bill is all about the indoctrination of America’s youth in the ways of socialism and the march toward the socialists dream of Utopia. Why, just look at the grandiose name the folks in the US Senate have hung on it: The “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act’ or the ‘GIVE Act”. You really need to read this thing. It is frightening. Take a look at it yourself HERE.

The US House of Representatives has already passed this bill by a vote of 321 – 105. It is on the way to passage in the US Senate, as well. If you haven’t contacted your Senators about this bill, you’d better get a move on.

This “GIVE ACT” is only another of the socialist schemes the “Obama cult” is

racing through the Congress while his administration keeps the attention of the people of the country away from their real agenda. How are they doing this? They are quickly moving their plans for a completely socialist America at breakneck speed by keeping the attention of Mr. and Mrs. America elsewhere. They are USING the national economic fiasco… the recession. What you are seeing, dear reader, is a little slight of hand here. See, while you and I are busy worrying about our 401K’s, and our mortgages, and just keeping our jobs and putting food on the table for the family, Obama’s minions are stealing our country right out from under us and changing America forever into a second world, or as the international bankers and financiers would refer to us… as a country which is currently in “Developing Country” status.

The America we used to know is GONE! Now, they are coming after the children. If you want to save your kids, you’d better start burning the fax machines, the telephones, and the e-mail inboxes, in Washington DC down with your faxes, phone calls, and e-mails demanding that your Senators vote against this bill which will draft your kids into Obama’s Socialist Army. Remind them of the 13^th Amendment to the constitution, which outlaws involuntary servitude. If you have children or grandchildren you should be absolutely livid at the very thought that YOUR kids can be drafted into a government program which has the earmarks of an indoctrination program.

This bill must be stopped and it is halfway home already.

There are OUR CHILDREN! The Socialists CANNOT HAVE THEM!

America’s Crossing of the Rubicon.

A few months ago, weeks before the election in November of 2008, I scribbled the following words:

"And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand". (From the Bible, Matthew 12:25.)”

The schism that slices through America today has been widening since the 19th century. Little by little, decade-by-decade, year-by-year it has continued to get ever wider and ever deeper. It has nothing to do with geography. It has nothing to do with slavery… and, yet, it has everything to do with slavery.

What, you say? Didn't we put the slavery issue to rest with a war in the 1860's? The truthful answer is NO. We did not. We put to rest the issue of whether or not a man could hold another man in bondage in this country. What we did not put to rest, however, is the question of whether this country's government could hold its citizens in bondage.

The founders of this country intended to set up a government with very little power. They intended the government to have only the power the citizens allowed it to have. Almost instantly the power struggle began between those who wanted a strong central government and those who wanted strong states and a weak central government. After all, it was The States that created the Federal Government… as a utility of the states. Not the other way around. Look it up.

In 1860 there were 33 states in the so-called United States of America. I do mean "so-called" because they were anything but UNITED. By the spring of 1861 thirteen of those states had had enough of being "dictated-to" by a oligarchic federal government wielding powers the constitution did not grant it, and ... as the US Constitution did not forbid it (as had the Articles of Confederation)... they took their leave of the United States. They created a country of their own with a constitution (mostly copied from the original constitution of the US) and they became a separate country.

A few Americans today actually know what caused that split. A “mere handful” of Americans understand what the ensuing war was fought about.”

Even today, in 2009, a few Americans are uncomfortable with the sting of being forced, at the point of a government bayonet, to be a part of a country their ancestors had forsaken in order to set up a representative republic in the image of the government the Founding Fathers of America had given the United States. Those Americans are not comfortable with the revisionist history taught our young as they pass through the government/public education system, or, at least, what passes for an educational system in America these days.

A few million Americans who either live in, have lived in, or hail from, the only portion of this country to ever be invaded, conquered, and occupied by a foreign power, understand what is happening in America today, not because we learned it in school, no… because we learned it from the stories our families have handed down from generation to generation and from our own research into what happened to a country which had, less than a hundred years before, won it's independence from the Mother Country… Great Britain.

We are scattered all over America today... north, south, east, west, all over. We see where America is headed… and we fear for our fellow Americans because they/we are not ready for the cost to America. None of us are. What America is facing, in the next few years, will make the American Civil War seem like a Sunday School picnic.

The cost? Freedom is the price we will be compelled to pay for the “security” the current socialist regime in America is demanding.

Even today we see the government swallowing up great gobs of America’s business community. Our naïve, youthful, geographic either was not taught, or did not learn, that “business is the business of America.”

The business community is an invaluable part of the foundation of this country. Business provides the goods and services needed to trade with our fellowman on this planet. Business provides the jobs Americans need to provide for their families and to keep the capital (the money) roiling through our national economy. Business makes America strong. Profits keep business healthy. When business is healthy… America is healthy. Freedom is necessary, is, in fact, required for business to operate in a healthy and profitable atmosphere.

Today, in America we are flirting with slavery, all over again. Yes, SLAVERY, voluntary slavery, to begin with… then involuntary slave when it is then too late, after the Rubicon has been crossed. The socially accepted word for it these days is… SOCIALISM.

Back in November of 2008, Americans went to the polls to exercise a right granted them by their states… not the federal government. The issue they were voting for, or against, was slavery. Whether America should stay free, or whether America should give up the freedom so many have fought, bled, and died for, and assume the yoke and chains of slavery under socialism.

Make no mistake. SOCIALISM IS SLAVERY. As Americans have begun to understand, under socialism you will give up all your rights… all your freedom... in exchange for security, which is purportedly guaranteed by the Central Government. Believe me, if you think democracy is expensive; wait 'til you have to pay for all those FREE programs.

All my instincts told me, before last November’s election, that today's crop of Americans were willing to give up everything for that promise of security. Of all things "un-American"… that is the MOST un-American. But, that is what happened on Election Day, as we feared it would.

Do not expect the half of the country who stands solidly against socialism to go along, quietly; into the self-inflicted slavery of this hell-spawned form of government we call socialism.

Had the country voted totally in favor of socialism, last November 4th, all bets would be off. But the country didn’t. The facts are, the MsM would LIKE us to believe that Obama has a “mandate.” He doesn’t. They would like us to believe Obama won in a landslide. He didn’t. He won by a mere 5 percentage points. 5 percentage points is hardly a landslide. 5 percentage points hardly gives Obama a mandate for anything. Even so, as a result of that election, the word "United" can be dropped from the country's name, for all intents and purposes, these days. The country is effectively torn in two.

There can be no compromise. America CAN be healed, BUT… the damage Obama and his socialist cohorts are doing to this country, to this government, to our business community, and to the American people, will leave lasting scars… scars that will never completely heal.

Yes, we are in dangerous times… extremely dangerous. As each day passes the façade of Obama and his socialist allies in the Congress, and the cabinet, slips a little. More and more Americans are coming to understand the immensity of the mistake America made last November. It is becoming clear that our current government is taking America down a path the founders of this country never intended us to take.

The Rubicon HAS been crossed. The bridges are not yet burned, however, and Americans can re-cross to the open arms of freedom. But, if, and (God willing) WHEN we do, we will have to live with the damage done to our constitution. Repairs will be required to that old “God inspired document” to insure that what is happening to our beloved America can never happen again. It must be made a part of the law of this land that a democratic representative republic is the only form of government allowable… ever… in America.

Today is National Medal of Honor Day in America!

Today is “National Medal of Honor” Day.

Did you know that today, March 25^th, is Medal of Honor Day? I’ll beg you didn’t. It is only two years old. Yes March 25^th was set aside just two years ago to honor those who have earned the Congressional medal of Honor the highest honor the United States can bestow on a member of the US Armed Forces.

Did you know: The United States Congress designated March 25th of each year as NATIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR DAY, a day dedicated to Medal of Honor recipients. (Public Law 101-564) Conceived in the State of Washington, this holiday should be one of our most revered. Unfortunately all too many Americans are not even aware of its existence.

The date of March 25th was chosen to highlight this special day because it was on March 25 (1863) that the first Medals of Honor were presented

Some Americans believe the Top Brass in the Pentagon are deliberately refusing to award the Medal of Honor these days while they award other medals by the bushel baskets full. Excuses of every kind come from the aforementioned Top Brass as to why they are refusing to award the highest of honors to today’s US military heroes and those excuses range from the sublime to the ridiculous.

There is an article in the current issue of The Fayetteville Observer entitled “Let’s Not Forget Our Heroes” written by Joseph A. Kenny about this very thing and you’ll find it HERE. Pleas… go over and read this article. Mr. Kinney raise some interesting questions about why the Pentagon is passing over our current crop of heroes.

So… now that you DO know that today is National Medal of Honor Day… what can you do? Good question.

You can: Fly your US Flag and fly it high today! Thank a current serviceman or servicewoman for serving their country today. Be sure to call your Radio and TV stations and remind them about National Medal of Honor Day. (Sad to say… they probably don’t even know about it!) And you could also place some flowers on the grave, or graves, of deceased servicemen and women in a cemetery near you. And may we be so bold as to suggest one more thing? Why not call you Congressman and Senator and ask them to inquire of the Pentagon… why EXACTLY, they are not awarding the Medal of Honor to current service personnel?

America NEEDS heroes and we need them badly. I will venture to say our military is literally brimming with heroes and they need to be recognized. Lord knows… they have earned it!

“I’m retired from the United States Air Force and couldn’t stand being away from the wars, so I signed up to become a defense contractor/military advisor here in Helmand Province—home to some of the fiercest fighting in this theatre.” From far-off Afghanistan, I heard from a gentleman who typifies the kind of warrior spirit that can be found in the U.S. military.

He is busy helping to train members of the Afghan National Army on matters of military human resources as part of the International Security Assistance Force, the NATO mission in Afghanistan. He was responding to a commentary I had written about the insurgency in Afghanistan.

I did not and still do not favor putting U.S. troops in harm’s way in Afghanistan and had pointed out that both a British and a French general had concluded the same. To put things in perspective, I wanted the troops that former President Bush had sent to be withdrawn and I now heartily disagree with President Obama’s plan to transfer some 14,000 more troops there.

In all candor I was among the many who grew disenchanted with the lengthening war in Iraq prior to the “surge” there and I was wrong. Moreover, I am not a military strategist, so I draw my conclusions from analysis by those who are and, better still, from people who have served or are serving there.

Here’s a snapshot of just how bad the situation in Afghanistan truly is. The day before President Obama’s special envoy, Richard Holbrooke, arrived in Kabul, eight suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the justice and education ministries, killing 26 and wounding 57, The ministries are just down the street from where Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, conducts business.

To suggest that a functioning government exists in Afghanistan is tenuous at best. From everything I have read, not only does it not control Kabul, it barely functions beyond the city limits of the capitol, although the Afghan army under U.S. training has gotten some good marks.

The primary “industry” in Afghanistan is the growing of poppy for the manufacture of heroin. It is a major source of funding for the Taliban, the Islamic fundamentalist group that provided hospitality to Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda prior to 9/11 and likely still does. Here’s what you need to know about the poppy trade. Karzai’s government, such as it is, does not want to eradicate it. Neither does the U.S. The drug lords are allies because they do not want the Taliban to benefit and neither does the U.S.

“The irony of ironies here,” says a trusted source, “is that in flying over Helmand province you can see all the desired indicators of a devastated economy coming back to life; paved roads, small business shops, even electricity. Everything the U.S. is committed to achieving for the Afghans and seemingly a real role model of a successful counter-insurgency campaign and it all comes from opium profits!”

After 9/11, the U.S. retaliated by sending in the CIA and military to presumably chase the Taliban out of Afghanistan. It shares a long border with Pakistan and that’s where the survivors headed in 2001. It is Pakistan, not Afghanistan, that is the real hotspot in the Middle East these days.

Pakistan barely qualifies to be considered a nation. It was created when India declared its independence in 1947 as a place, along with Bangladesh, where Muslims could flee rather than become Indian citizens. Great numbers were slain and, although many remained in India, they are second-class citizens there. Wherever Muslims are not in the majority, they are heartily disliked by those who are. Bangladesh later broke with Pakistan to declare its own independence.

Simply put, Pakistan has almost always been ruled by its military, as was the case most recently of President Musharref, who also retained his rank as a general. The current president just agreed to a deal with the Taliban to relinquish control over a large portion of the nation. Even under Musharref it was never able to exercise any real control and it is the Taliban’s intention to take over all of Pakistan, imposing Sharia law.

Militarily, there is virtually no way the American military, even including NATO forces and the Afghan army, can effectively conduct a counterinsurgency there. The society and the terrain are not hospitable. Re-supply of our forces now comes through Uzbekistan and Tajikistan as routes through Pakistan are viable, but increasingly lethal.

Writing jointly in Small Wars Journal.com, officers from the United States Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps offered a lengthy analysis of what would be required to win out over the Taliban. The question they addressed was “How Should the U.S. Execute a Surge in Afghanistan?” The paper does not reflect official policy.

They noted that the failure to execute an effective counterinsurgency (COIN) to date has resulted in a security situation that “has steadily deteriorated since 2006 largely due to the lack of forces required.” Keep in mind, Afghanistan is not Iraq and the two cannot be compared in terms of the application of a military solution.

It is not that the U.S. does not know how to conduct a counterinsurgency. The principles involved were known to the Romans who conquered Gaul. Afghanistan differs from Iraq in that it has “a predominantly rural population with strong tribal loyalties, a historically weak central government, and (a) large, porous border (that) make the operational environment in Afghanistan much more challenging.” Or, in other words, damn near impossible.

“There are approximately 42 million Pashtuns spread throughout the region with 14 million living in Pakistan. These Afghan Pashtuns serve as the center of gravity for the Taliban” that are estimated to number between 10,000 and 15,000 “hardcore insurgents.” Two-thirds of the Pashtuns live in Western Pakistan along a 2,430 kilometer border with Afghanistan. They were the original source of the Taliban movement and are “unlike any operational problem faced in Iraq.”

Now do the math. For a successful counterinsurgency it will be necessary to have a 20- to-1,000 security force density in the Pashtun areas. This would require more than 280,000 military personnel. There is simply no way the U.S. alone could achieve this “for an Afghan population well over 32 million, even with the help of NATO and Afghan National Security Forces.

The latest report from Kabul is that the International Security Assistance Force, established by the United Nations in 2001, now numbers about 55,000 troops of which nearly half are U.S. military. If it cannot even secure Kabul, what are the odds it can have any success throughout some of the worst terrain for battle to be found anywhere in the world?

The British forces in poppy-rich Helmand province have been trying without success for three years to establish a measure of security there.

The decision by the new Commander-in-Chief, Barack Obama, to move more troops into this situation ignores the reality of waging war in Afghanistan. If he had no stomach for the war in Iraq, it is doubtful he will be willing to sustain the increased casualties that will result from simply putting more of our troops in harm’s way.

Islamic militancy throughout the Middle East and extending its deadly intensions worldwide is going to be a long fight. The U.S. would do well to pick somewhere other than Afghanistan to wage that war. If the Russians with some 100,000 troops were eventually defeated by the local tribes (with weapons assistance from the U.S.) it seems clear that the current mission has little hope for success. The Russians had 14,000 casualties by the time they left.

We should leave now. The Taliban are analogous to the street gangs that every city in America has had for decades and longer. Meanwhile, the U.S. needs to protect the Gulf States, Iraq, and Israel. The odds are that we will have to engage Iran at some point and tying up troops elsewhere is a bad strategy. It is now Obama’s war.

America’s Military Dishonored By The Obama Administration

Someone once said: “A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to his country for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people who no longer understand it.” The author of this bit of wisdom is unknown to me. But it is a truism that fewer and fewer people understand as less and less Americans feel a need to “give something back to their country” by serving her in her military forces. There is no higher calling. And yet, some Americans seem to go out of their way to dishonor the very men and women who stand between them and death, or worse… slavery, 24 hours a day… EVERY day.

I thought about this recently when I learned that the government was going to allow photos of the flag-draped coffins of dead American service men and service women as they are off-loaded after being flown from the battlefield that claimed their lives to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

It makes me sick to even think that soon the leftist media, and by that I mean the Mainstream Media, will soon have us wallowing in photos and video of fallen American warriors. Of course, the government says it will allow the families of the deceased service personnel to decide if they wish to allow the photos or video of their loved ones coffins splayed across the TV screens of the nation, indeed, the world.

You know, there is something just flat-out vulgar, almost blasphemous, about using the bodies of dead heroes, who have given their lives to ensure your freedom. That includes freedom to advance your political plans, your political philosophy, and even your political crusade. It’s just wrong! In fact, few things in life are as wrong as that. But… that is what was happening when President George H. W. Bush shut it down by forbidding the press from filming the off-loading of the bodies of our dead soldiers. It was a move I applauded. I must tell you this change to allow it again just sickens me.

I waited a few days before even approaching this subject as a commentary because I wanted to be fair. But, over those few days I came to realize that I couldn’t ignore my own deep feelings about this practice. I think it is a mistake on the part of the President and the SecDef to allow this.

Having said this, and made clear my personal feelings about it, I must tell you that I also think we won’t be seeing those picture on the evening news for very long. Why? The answer is simple when you think about it. You see, the war in Iraq, which the President just conceded to the enemy, and the war in Afghanistan are now, both, Democrat wars. The war in Afghanistan will now, forever, be known as Obama’s War. The war in Afghanistan has vast potential to become our second Viet Nam. If that does, in fact, occur, those photos of dead American soldiers at Dover Air Force base will all be added to the list of Obama “screw-ups.” The liberal/socialists won’t allow that so those videos and photos will quietly disappear from the news shows.

The Mainstream Media on it’s own, being so completely “in the tank” for Obama will likely simply stop using the photos and film footage and nothing will be said. The TV viewers will not see them anymore, nobody will say a thing about it, and no one will be the wiser. Often that is the way sensitive things like this are handled when it causes harm to those in power.

For those of you too young to remember and too inexperienced to know, there was a time, not too long ago, when the press was the “watchdog of the people”. They felt it was their job to “watch” the government and report anything they felt would be detrimental to the citizens of America, or to the security of the country. All that is long past, however.

This is a new day in America. We are living in the “Post Capitalist” period in America. It is the “Socialist Period” in America. And the press is so deep “in the tank” for the new socialist government of America that they cannot see that the joke, if there is one, is on them.

At some point the media is going to be awakened to the fact that under a socialist regime freedom of the press is whatever the socialist government says it is and nothing more. Soon, they will have to sit up and take notice because freedom of the press is considered an eminent threat to any socialist regime and therefore freedom of the press must be drastically curtailed. In some socialist countries, in the past, the socialist government simply moved in and took over the press, entirely, rather than spend the time and effort in shepherding them in what they could report and what they couldn’t report. The socialist governments found it was much easier and far more efficient to simple BECOME the press. And they did.

Some Americans tried to convince their fellow Americans of the dangers presented by the socialists during the campaign of 2008. The press shouted us down. We also tried to make American voters aware of the left’s anti-military philosophy and their hatred for the American military. Again, we were shouted down. Conservatives attempted to bring reasonable arguments to the national conversation during that campaign but not only did the press shout us down but the liberals, in league with the MsM, shut the reasonable considerations down in favor of emotional issues the liberals wanted to pursue, and the socialists wanted to use, to secure their lock on the democrat left.

So, now, in recent days, we have learned that the Obama administration wants deep cuts in the budget for the Defense Department. Remember, now, we are at war. Plus, we learned, just a few days ago, that the Obama administration plans to force active military personnel to use their own private insurance to pay for medical treatment of wounds and injuries received in combat fighting for America!

It is obvious the left has NEVER understood that the US military is their protector. It is the US military that keeps the country safe so the left can pursue their wacky ideas about socialism and the promotion of their dreams of a socialist utopia that has never existed and never will exist because it goes against human nature and mankind’s inborn yearning for freedom.

Let’s sum up: The photos and video of the coffins of dead American warriors, cuts in the military’s budget, cuts in health services and medical treatment of wounded American service personnel, and to top it off… a draw down of US troops in Iraq, which is far too soon. In fact, it could be argued Obama’s draw down of troops is coming at a critical time in Iraq when US troops are attempting to pacify some large areas of the country and prepare as many Iraqi troops as possible to take over when US troops do eventually leave.

And for the “piece de resistance”… a build up of US troops in Afghanistan, a country where outright victory, in any war, is darn near impossible… and we have the recipe for a sharp uptick in flag-draped coffins being flown into Dover Air Force Base.

This, dear reader, is the hallmark of the left… emotion over reason. We are about to see the devastating results of the thinking and planning of an Obama administration, which is clearly “in over its head” and “ill prepared” for rapidly moving events in the Middle East. Rest assured that if this lowly commentator can see this, our enemies can see it as well. Do not think they will not take advantage of it.

Sometime ago I was watching Mr. Bill Bennett on a TV talk show. He uttered a phrase that caused me a sharp intake of breath and a long moment of introspection. He said this: “America has become the kind of country we used to send missionaries to.”

Now, think about that for a moment. Is it not the truth? Of course, it is!

Maybe it is a generational thing, I don’t know. But I can tell you this. In the days of my youth funding missionaries was a big thing. Churches and civic organizations did it, practically unceasingly. The idea was to take civilization, along with food and clothing, and education, and religion to the folks on this planet who needed civilizing and needed religion in their lives … as well as food and clothing. It worked, to one degree or another, all over the globe.

My childhood church was really BIG on funding missionaries. Several times a year “special” offerings were taken up, from the almost entirely “working class” membership of the church, and used to buy supplies needed by missionaries in remote parts of the planet. Our church even adopted a single missionary and provided her an automobile, and, if I recall correctly, in cooperation with another church, or churches, yet another missionary was provided with a small airplane to help with their ministry to the, uh, “heathens”.

I recall once, for a special offering, the church board, the deacons, met and decided to ask each household to give up one week’s paycheck, their entire pay for one week, to a special offering to go to a missionary, if memory serves, in Africa. They put it to a vote of the membership. It passed and thousands of dollars was gathered in from folks who really could not afford to give that much money but felt it was necessary to take the gospel to the heathen population of that far away country.

Yes, this was back in the 1940’s and 1950’s. It was a time when America knew who she was and her mission on this earth was clear to all Americans.

Now, America herself has sunk so low morally, spiritually, and in practically every other way, that it is time those countries we helped civilize, those countries we made sure were introduced to the Christian religion, send missionaries here, to the US, to save us!

The awful truth is… we are worse, in many respects, than those countries to which we sent missionaries. See, before our missionaries arrived, most of those folks had never been exposed to civilization, or the Christian faith. They had an excuse for living the way they did then. We don’t have an excuse! We know better… and yet… we still live our lives of depravity.

America is a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah! Except, of course, Sodom and Gomorrah were not as bad as we are today.

Even our mainline, so-called, Christian churches have given up the fight and joined forces with evil. Those churches flaunt their allegiance to evil by accepting homosexual marriages, going so far as to marry two people of the same gender… in the church… with a priest, or pastor, presiding. A sin so heinous the Bible calls for the death sentence for those who practice it is now celebrated in churches which bear the names of Christ and the Saints.

This country, which was, indeed, founded by a bunch of Christian zealots, has sunk so low as to remove prayer from the schools to which we send our children for an education. (Well, we used to send them to school for an education. Now we pray they will teach them to read and write! But, as is so often said, that is a topic for another day.) This country wants to punish men and women of faith for not committing what they believe is a heinous sin by aborting a baby, or filling a prescription for a drug, which will induce an abortion in the mother.

I’m told there is a movement afoot to change the name of “Saint Patrick’s Day” to “Shamrock Day” because the name of Saint Patrick is associated with the Christian faith. We all know about the war on Christmas, the Ten Commandments, and all the other attacks, big and small, on the Christian faith in America.

And Christians are not fighting back.

A friend has produced an excellent article about Christians not fighting back. Jefferson Weaver is a man of faith. It doesn’t bother him, in the slightest, that you know that. Jeff is a Christian. He is “An Angry Christian,” too. (That makes, at least, two of us! And “The Scriptures” tell us “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I also!” So we are off to a good start! Just Jeff, yours truly, and… God! Some team, huh?!)

In any event, Jeff is a much better writer than this scribe. He sums up my feelings and, I suspect, the feelings of a lot of you reading this humble offering, too. “An Angry Christian” reflects so much of my own thoughts and feelings that I had to share it with you. My generation of Americans has seen America rise to the pinnacle of success as a planet-leading nation. We even blazed the trail to the stars. Look carefully at the surface of earth’s only moon and you see the footprints of Americans beside a flagstaff with an American flag outstretched in all its glory. But things have changed drastically.

It is incredibly difficult to blaze trails when you have lost your way.

A couple of generations of Americans intent upon elevating the self-esteem of their fellow Americans felt it necessary to lead America from reliance upon God to reliance upon one’s self… entirely. The Christian faith has taken the brunt of the hit from those Americans convinced they need no help from a merciful, benevolent, God. They haven’t gone so far as to feed us to the lions yet, but parading us through the US Judicial System is nearly as bad.

We are witnessing “The Persecution of Christians, Part Two” in America these days. Unlike Christians of the first century we do have the means to fight back. But modern Christians are far more frightened of the courts than the lions.

As socialism overtakes America we will find, I’m afraid, that Christianity will have no place in America. Socialism inevitably replaces God with The State. Then comes the end.

Yes, America does need an influx of missionaries. However, missionaries coming to America, these days, will find her less hospitable than those far away lands of wild animals, cannibals, and overgrown jungles. In America, you see, friends of God, intent upon spreading the Gospel, will find left-wing politics, far more ravenous than hungry lions, ready to dismember them and neutralize their message of REAL Hope and REAL Change.

But, not to worry! I read the book… and we WIN!

I doubt that most Americans have a clue what the leading Green organizations like Friends of the Earth and the Sierra Club have as their agenda for 2009. They have already made it known their members, so I will share it with you.

There are literally dozens of these groups in the United States and each has their own particular focus of attention, but the largest among them play well together in the giant sandbox of Green utopian fantasies. That’s why both FOE and Sierra Club announced they are looking forward to “a clean slate” from the Obama administration.

“There’s nothing like a fresh start. On his first day in office, President Obama could make four decisions that would start 2009 with a ‘clean slate’ of energy policies,” said Friends of the Earth at the same time, the Sierra Club announced its own “Clean Slate Energy Agenda” that—surprise—was the same.

The focus of both is on energy use and accessibility. Both want a lot LESS energy use. Along with all other environmental organizations both use the bogy man of “global warming” to demand huge reductions in “emissions.”

The Sierra Club informed its members that it wants to “reduce global warming emissions quickly by making it possible for over a dozen states to implement their clean car requirements.” This is the objective of one of President Obama’s earliest executive orders. Driving up the cost of owning and operating a car directly strikes at the ability of Americans to be mobile and independent. Justifying it as necessary to reduce global warming is just a big fat lie. There is NO global warming.

Friends of the Earth are totally opposed to any economy stimulus that might include improving the nation’s infrastructure of highways. They warned the plan “is in danger of being hijacked by the road-building lobby, which wants billions of dollars for unnecessary new roads that would increase global warming pollution.”

Over the years I have come to marvel at the ability of environmental organizations to conjure up statistics faster than a magician can pull a rabbit out of a hat. “”Transportation is responsible for 30 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and 70 percent of our oil consumption” warned Friends of the Earth. What does it matter that carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) have no impact whatever on the Earth’s climate? And just what is wrong with oil consumption if it contributes to the success and growth of the nation’s economy?

“Just 10 miles of a new four-lane highway lead to emissions that are equivalent to the lifetime emissions of 46,700 new Hummers,” said Friends of the Earth. To which I reply, who cares? With oil prices plunging, those Hummers, particularly in parts of the nation hit by bad weather, look like a good idea. Bottom line: if you can afford a Hummer, where is it written you should not be allowed to own one?

Friends of the Earth, however, want to “shift the debate” in the environmental community to get the nation to avoid “car-centric highways and toward sustainable alternatives such as transit, biking, walking, and smart growth development, that will help fight global warming.”

What are these Green groups going to do when the vast population of the United States and elsewhere around the world concludes that there is no global warming? That day is not far off insofar as the Earth is now fully a decade into a cooling cycle that promises longer, harsher winters and a shift to generally cooler temperatures that will affect all northern hemisphere nations in particular and to an extent those in the southern hemisphere as well.

This explains why the United Nations environmental program has shifted into high gear to get the bogus Kyoto Protocols ratified. Not surprisingly, the U.S. has never signed on to it and even European nations that did are balking at emission reduction mandates. Meanwhile, neither China, nor India, nor many under-developed nations are subject to any of the restrictions. It’s a plan to undermine the economies of developed nations because greens hate humanity in general and successful economies in particular.

We’re not even halfway through the “clean slate” proposals. They include Sierra Club’s call to “require new and existing coal power plants to limit their global warming emissions” and to “end destructive mountaintop removal mining…” Finally, they want to “restore America’s international leadership in the fight to end global warming by publicly committing the U.S. to cut its CO2 emissions at least 35 percent by 2020.”

The Greens are so demented that the American Bird Conservancy released a statement in mid-December hailing the appointments of the new Obama administration. Its idea of stimulating the economy was to “invest $29 million dollars over the next four years in the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act” because “bird watching is now big business.” The Conservancy wants the U.S. to “invest “$540 million in America’s 543 national wildlife refuges” to create more “green jobs.” What a big help that will be to Americans who live primarily in America’s cities and suburbs.

The bird-lovers are a bit conflicted over another recommendation to “invest $30.5 million in the five year extension of the renewable energy production tax credit and making renewable energy tax incentives fully refundable. Wind energy is one of the alternative sources of energy” they recommend, but “if left unregulated, has the potential to kill large numbers of birds and bats and harm fragile habitats.” Well, which is it? Dead birds or more “alternative” energy? Both are extremely bad ideas.

The Greens for all their enthusiasm to spend tax dollars on their favorite notions remain opposed to any real energy generation by coal-fired or nuclear plants to meet current and future needs for electricity. They are utterly opposed to people driving around in cars for any reason and, one must assume, trucks that deliver the goods we require to live.

The longer one listens to what the Greens want, the more one becomes convinced that the members of these organizations must be utterly brain dead and that their objective is to render America a third-world nation by opposing the building of new power plants, along with the exploration and extraction of our natural resources of coal, natural gas, and oil.

Should the District of Columbia be given Statehood?

The short answer is NO! The long answer is: NOOOOOOOOOO!

Washington is a city, a government compound, if you please; it is anything but a state! And it should never become a state… unless… the Nation’s Capitol is moved to a more centralized location in the US. Then, I would propose breaking the District up and returning those parts of the district which had formerly belonged to the neighboring states… if they will take it back, which, frankly, I doubt. That portion belonging to Virginia has already been returned. The remaining portion used to belong to Maryland.

George Washington, the nations first president, chose the spot, a swamp named “Foggy Bottom”, upon which to build the city. It was close to his home, don’t you see. Sadly, Washington never served as President in the city, which bears his name. Somehow, I suspect that given a look at what the city has become today, Washington would ask that his name be removed.

Not to worry, those pushing for statehood for the District already have a new name chosen: “New Columbia”. I’ve not heard whether the folks in the Old Columbia, which is the capitol city of South Carolina, would mind, or not. I dare say they haven’t been asked.

The city was created as a “municipal corporation” on February 21st, 1871. And it’s been nothing but trouble and a drain on the US Treasury ever since.

The rambling here is, hopefully, to establish a truth which seems to be very inconvenient for those who want statehood for DC. The truth is: Washington was conceived as a city within which to locate the seat of the US Government. It was not to be in a state, or any portion of a state. It was to be in a district… separate, and apart, from ANY state!

Another inconvenient fact is that statehood for DC would be unconstitutional. That’s right! Unconstitutional!

You see, The Constitution specifies “a federal district not exceeding ten miles square.” It is not to be a part of any state. Today the District is six times as large as the constitution stipulated at over 61 square miles

It is my personal belief that only a constitutional amendment can legally make a state of the District of Columbia.

Many disagree. A number believe that the government compound could be shrunk down to contain only those federal buildings, which are a part of the government and the remainder of that 61 square miles turned into a state.

The Democrats, especially, love the idea of statehood for DC. They know they would get three liberal democrat members of the Senate, and Congress, right off the bat. According to the 2000 census there are 343,312 Blacks in DC. Whites account for only 176,101. That’s 60% Black and 30% White. The median age is 34.6 years old.

Right now, when numbers mean so much for the Democrats, you can bet they are looking, and lusting after, the District of Columbia.

Why do I bring this up now? I refer you to the paragraph immediately preceding this one. You can bet that should the democrats manage to win the Congress, or just the US House, a new push for statehood for DC will be introduced, almost immediately. And, another thing you can bet on… if they can figure out a way to get the job done, short of a constitutional amendment, they will see that DC becomes the 51st state of New Columbia ASAP. I mean, 93% of the voters casting ballots in DC in the last election, voted democrat. That fact alone should tell you all you really need to know about the “Statehood for DC” push.

So, if the Congress wishes to diminish the size of the District say, down to the constitutionally mandated ten square miles, that’s fine by me. But, I would insist that the remainder of the current District be returned to Maryland and/or any other state from which the land was originally appropriated.

The final answer, so far as I am concerned, is no statehood for the District of Columbia, no matter its size and population… ever.

However, as Universal Healthcare continues to wind it’s way to the top of Obama’s “To Do” list it, I feel, it has become necessary to once again speak out against socialized medicine in the US. Americans are going to be pounded with politicians decrying the state of our healthcare system very soon now. It is on the Obama Socialist Agenda and making it’s way to the top of the list while the country is distracted by the financial meltdown that I am STILL not quite sure wasn’t planned by the “Shadow Government” pulling the strings from behind the curtain. Certainly the Democrats are going to try to breath life into what we used to call “Hillarycare” and revive it. But… Obama is calling for his own sort of national healthcare and, I am afraid, many Republicans, cowed by the voter’s lusting after Obama’s “free” programs, will support this socialist abomination.

I saw figures recently that stated the Universal Healthcare Program Obama is pushing will cost the US taxpayer about 1.5 Trillion dollars just to get it off the ground and running.

Now, let me be clear on something. I intend to lobby against Universal Healthcare in the United States and you would be wise to take the same stand.

We have very few freedoms left in this formerly great country. The quickest way to lose those we have left is to have a National Healthcare Program administered by the Federal Government.

I have quoted “someone” a number of times that said: “If you think healthcare is expensive now… wait ‘til it’s free!” (I still don’t know who said it!)

I have a food bank near me. I watch as folks drive up in fancy, expensive, automobiles and load their trunks up with free food. I watch as lines form to get the “free” food. It occurred to me that what I am seeing is exactly what will happen to our healthcare system if the government pronounces it free! People who haven’t been to a doctor in many years will suddenly have an urge to visit a physician. I mean… it’s FREE! No matter that it is estimated that roughly 40% of all illnesses will eventually run their courses and the patient will be returned to good health, whether or not they see a physician. I mean… damn, it’s FREE!

Soon the hospitals and doctors will be swamped with the tsunami of new patients. The system, not able to handle it, will collapse. It will fall to the government to decide who sees the doctor, which doctor, and when. And that, dear reader, is when things REALLY get screwed-up! A bureaucrat will be making decisions on whether YOU see a doctor, or not, and which doctor you will see… and when. And it goes down hill from there.

I know, I sound like somebody in perfect health and not sensitive to the problems of people with illnesses. Well, if you think that, you are incorrect. I have been hospitalized between 70 and 75 times in my life. I have an incurable disease, which will eventually, directly, or indirectly, cause my death. I am a walking, talking, pharmacy tech who has never had a day of formal training. Thank God, my offspring is a Doctor of Pharmacy.

The long and the short of it is… I know about the healthcare system in America. I have seen it, experienced it, if you will, close up, for my entire life. I have seen it implode in the past 20 years, or so, and I know why. Among my close friends are doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and radiologists with whom I am on a first name basis.

One of the reasons we are in such a situation is the illegal immigration in this country, which has put such a tremendous load on our healthcare system.

We have been told that if you don’t have insurance you cannot be treated in America. That, to put it bluntly, is a lie of the first order. If you show up at a public hospital emergency room in America, a hospital, which accepts public money, it is against the law for that hospital to turn you away and not treat you… whether or not you can pay. If you doubt me, I invite you to choose a hospital close to you and drop in on the Emergency Department on any weekend. You will quickly see the truth in what I am telling you here. Many Emergency Departments have had to close down simply because they can no longer afford to care for those without insurance in America.

So far, the hospitals have been passing along the coast of treating those without insurance to those with insurance. That’s why a cotton ball, which you can purchase in any department store, will cost you about a penny, or less, but the same cotton ball will cost you several dollars in an American hospital. SOMEBODY has to pay. Problem is… the hospitals have reached a saturation point with their insured patient’s insurance companies. Insurance companies are, even now, sending their subscribers overseas for surgery. Contrary to what you may have heard, they are not sending them overseas for a better quality of care… but for a lower cost to the insurance company!

If you think our healthcare system is in a mess now, as Al Jolson would say: “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”

We have all dealt with government bureaucrats at some point in our lives. You know the tedium. You know the frustration. Wait ‘til your doctor is a bureaucrat!

And finally, NOTHING is FREE! Those who are determined to create a nanny state here in the USA will tell you the National Healthcare System will be free. That, dear reader is a crock, a load of bovine scatology! You are going to pay for it. I’m going to pay for it. Taxes will go sky high… and then some.

The politics of Universal Healthcare is pure socialism. You can call it what you want, but the bare fact is… it is socialism!

There has been a movement underway, in this country, which the democrat party adopted, way back in the fifties and sixties, to turn America into a socialist state like unto Europe. They have almost accomplished their goal. Universal Healthcare will be their crowning achievement!

For all intents and purposes, America is no longer a democratic republic. America has already become a socialist state. Those of us old codgers who remember when we were prepared to go to war to fight the spread of socialism cringe when we see how our country, America, has deteriorated into the black hole of socialism. We cringe when we hear today’s politicians, national leaders, as it were, spouting Marxist slogans from the floor of the national legislature. The national nightmare has become the American Dream. It is painful to watch Socialism suffocate the human spirit in Americans as it has done in so many countries around the globe.

This was once, not very long ago, a land of unlimited possibilities…a land of new horizons everyday. No longer. We have chosen security over freedom. That’s all it took.

Freedom is a fragile thing. One blow from the hammer of socialism and freedom shatters… and is no more.

Those of us who remember the REAL America weep for our country.

Barney Frank makes me want to puke.

I would like to blame the entire financial meltdown on him, but unfortunately there are plenty of others in Congress on whom the blame must fall. In the case of AIG, TARP, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and all the other assaults on every dollar any one of us plus our children will earn, the blame must fall on Congress. Not just this Congress, but those stretching back to the late 1960s and earlier.

As of March 15, 2009, according to the Congressional Budget Office, the national debt had reached $11 trillion, the largest in U.S. history. The annual Gross Domestic Product, the value of all the goods and services the U.S. sells to the world is estimated to be between $13 and $14 trillion. Do the arithmetic.

Then pause and consider that a vast portion of the annual federal budget is already committed to entitlement programs like Social Security that began in the 1930s as a response to the Great Depression.

Social Security, along with Medicare and the endless permutations of programs that redistribute money from the public treasury, constitute at least two-thirds of any budget from the gitgo. It breaks down to Social Security: 23%; Medicare: 12%; Medicaid: 7%; other means-tested entitlements: 6%; mandatory payments (pensions, etc.): 6%; and the net interest on debt: 11%.
The wailing about AIG paying bonuses is pure populist political theatre. Because of various regulations regarding the highest levels of compensation, financial houses have always sought ways to reward productive executives by other means, among them being bonuses.

The history of this mess can be fairly easily tracked, going back to 1968 when the government converted the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) from a government entity to a “government sponsored enterprise” purchasing and securitizing mortgages. This removed Fannie Mae’s debt from the government’s books. Two years later in 1970, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) was created by Congress to buy mortgages in the secondary market.

The notion that the government had to get involved in the private mortgage loan marketplace goes back to the geniuses who prolonged the Great Depression during the successive administrations of Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, a liberal, and a man with absolutely no experience in the private sector.

Congress continued to pass one piece of legislation after another to involve itself in the banking sector of the nation all in the name of social justice and things like community investment. In essence they encouraged people to take on more debt than they could afford.
In 1974, household debt was $705 billion. By 2000, it would total $7.4 trillion. Since by then people could not deduct interest on their consumer loans such as credit cards and auto loans, but could take out home equity loans to pay off debt, they were sucked down a rabbit hole of mortgage-related debt.

The fragility of the banking system was evident to all when, starting around 1989, savings and loan banks began collapsing, requiring the government to create a Resolution Trust Corporation which closed hundreds of insolvent banks. It cost the government $105 billion to resolve the crisis and the net loss to taxpayers was estimated to be $40 billion by the end of 1999. Chump change compared to the enormity of the present problem that is also tied to bad loans and the subsequent securitizing (bundling) and resale of such loans.

At the heart of the issue was the government requirement that banking and mortgage loan companies abandon centuries of knowledge and experience when it comes to evaluating who qualifies to receive a loan in favor of making loans to virtually anyone with a pulse.

By 2000 there were $160 billion in subprime loans, up from $40 billion in 1994. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could not buy this essentially worthless paper fast enough. The Department of Housing and Urban Development would soon require Fannie Mae to dedicate 50% of its business to low and moderate-income families with the goal of financing more than $500 billion under the auspices of the Community Reinvestment Act.

In 2004 U.S. home ownership peaked at 69.2%. The actual re-sale value of homes began to dip leaving homeowners with properties against which they could no longer acquire equity loans. Although it must be said that the vast majority of mortgages are still being paid today, many were unable to meet their payments. (The government’s answer, of course, is to use public monies to bail them out or to directly interfere with the terms of their mortgages.)Subprime loan institutions began to go belly up. Having obeyed laws requiring that they make bad loans, they now were out of business. Companies like AIG that had bought billions in “securitized” mortgage packages found themselves with “toxic” paper, much of which could not even have a dollar value assessed.

By 2007, home sales continued to fall as fewer loans were being made as the collapse of the subprime mortgage industry reached warp speed. In April, the Federal Election Commission fined Freddie Mac $3.8 million for having made illegal campaign contributions to members of the House Committee on Financial Services that oversees it.

Suffice it to say that just about everything Congress did, along with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, worsened the situation for banking, investment, and insurance companies like AIG. Throughout the decline, those charged with the responsibility to oversee it were getting sweetheart mortgage deals and pulling in lots of campaign funding. In 2008, the economy headed south in terms of the stock market and existing home sales. It wasn’t a trickle. It was a flood.

By October 2008 the then-Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Paulson, asked for and received $700 billion in order to stem the bleeding in the banking and investment sector, but some went under anyway and others were purchased for pennies on the dollar. Some of the sales were made on the demand of government officials, including Timothy Geithner, the current Secretary of the Treasury.

All of which brings us to the latest round of House Committee hearings in which the perpetrators of the financial meltdown and current recession rant about AIG bonuses in an effort to divert public attention from their own malfeasance.

This recession is a wholly-owned result of the U.S. government’s involvement in the private sector. I like to remind people that the government has owned Amtrak for some forty years and it has never made a profit.

Did I mention that President Barack Obama received $101,000 in AIG contributions during his campaign?

The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, “This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ‘… to care for him who shall have borne the battle…’ given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America’s veterans!”


Commander Rehbein was among a group of senior officials from veterans service organizations joining the President, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki and Steven Kosiak, the overseer of defense spending at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).


The group’s early afternoon conversation at The White House was precipitated by a letter of protest presented to the President earlier this month. The letter, co-signed by Commander Rehbein and the heads of ten colleague organizations, read, in part, “ There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran’s personal insurance for care that the VA has a responsibility to provide. While we understand the fiscal difficulties this country faces right now, placing the burden of those fiscal problems on the men and women who have already sacrificed a great deal for this country is unconscionable.” Commander Rehbein reiterated points made last week in testimony to both House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees.


It was stated then that The American Legion believes that the reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate that VA treat service-connected injuries and disabilities given that the United States government sends members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and not private insurance companies. The proposed requirement for these companies to reimburse the VA would not only be unfair, says the Legion, but would have an adverse impact on service-connected disabled veterans and their families.


The Legion argues that, depending on the severity of the medical conditions involved, maximum insurance coverage limits could be reached through treatment of the veteran’s condition alone. That would leave the rest of the family without health care benefits. The Legion also points out that many health insurance companies require deductibles to be paid before any benefits are covered. Additionally, the Legion is concerned that private insurance premiums would be elevated to cover service-connected disabled veterans and their families, especially if the veterans are self-employed or employed in small businesses unable to negotiate more favorable across-the-board insurance policy pricing. The American Legion also believes that some employers, especially small businesses, would be reluctant to hire veterans with service-connected disabilities due to the negative impact their employment might have on obtaining and financing company health care benefits.


“I got the distinct impression that the only hope of this plan not being enacted,” said Commander Rehbein, “is for an alternative plan to be developed that would generate the desired $540-million in revenue. The American Legion has long advocated for Medicare reimbursement to VA for the treatment of veterans. This, we believe, would more easily meet the President’s financial goal. We will present that idea in an anticipated conference call with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel in the near future.

“I only hope the administration will really listen to us then. This matter has far more serious ramifications than the President is imagining,” concluded the Commander.

There have been times in the history of this planet when a government has turned on its military and sacrificed them for political gain because it was the expedient thing to do… not for the military, but for the government. We are experiencing such a time today as, in our opinion, the Obama Admnistration betrays the US Military.

Every American citizen should be up in arms today... and out in the streets of the nation’s capital... demanding that "those people" in the White House and the Congress cease and desist, forthwith, this betrayal of the US military. For that, dear reader, is what this is. Plain and simple… the US government is betraying the US military if they go through with this plan.

They promised those kids they would be taken care of and those kids took them at their word, went out and shed their blood, making good on their part of the contract, and now Obama’s administration is stabbing them in the back! They are treating America’s sons and daughters as cannon fodder, as desposable, as something you'd scrape off the bottom of your shoe after traversing a cattle lot! They are treating the sons and daughters of America as though they are totally worthless.

We conservatives tried to warn you folks, who voted for that pea-brained crowd we now have running the country, that THIS is the kind of politicians they are. But you would not listen. You wanted change. Well, damn it, you got it. NOW… HOW DO YOU LIKE IT???

I apologize, dear reader, I am just too angry to continue this piece. I am shamed, I am disgusted, beyond words, by this reprehensible decision by the man who holds the title of Commander-in-Chief.

It would behoove Washington to remember that armies follow commanders they respect.

The last time America elected a young President it was John F. Kennedy, age 44 when he took office.

The result was the Bay of Pigs fiasco involving an ill-fated invasion of Cuba to overthrow Fidel Castro and the decision to step in for the defeated French in Vietnam. Other comparable decisions were cut short by his assassination. We remember him mostly for his stirring inaugural speech, but his choice of Lyndon Johnson as his Vice President gave us the escalation of the Vietnam War and Great Society social spending that proved to be a waste of billions.

Now we have a President who is 47, a very young age to be running the greatest economic and military power in the world. He had, on taking office, already written two autobiographical memoirs, but people are slowly becoming aware of the fact that there is virtually no paper trail by which to measure him. His birth certificate and legal standing to be President are in dispute. Records from his college days are hidden from view.

His record as a one-term Illinois legislator is replete with “present” votes that revealed little about his political positions. He did not even wait to complete a full term as a U.S. Senator before almost immediately beginning to run for the highest office in the land.

In terms of political leadership, he is a child among grownups and a petulant one at that.

His first months in office have demonstrated an astonishing lack of judgment regarding those who he appointed to office, many of whom were revealed to be tax cheats and others who have since demonstrated a distinct lack of competence or preparation for positions of critical importance. Why, for example, would he appoint a longtime political operative like Leon Panetta to be the Director of the CIA?

His initial policy decisions and statements panicked Wall Street and were it not for grownups like Ben Bernacke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, and the steps taken by President Bush prior to his taking office, the economy might have suffered even greater damage. His decisions in office, however, are widely decried as a repetition of all the errors made by the FDR administration that prolonged the Great Depression.

While babbling endlessly about “energy independence” he has again banned any offshore exploration and drilling for oil and natural gas. His preferences for solar and wind energy ignore the fact that, while heavily subsidized by taxpayer funding, these two “clean” energies provide barely one percent of the electricity the nation requires and are the two least efficient and impractical means of generating power.

While deploring “earmarks” he signed an “imperfect” stimulus bill that contained nine thousand of them.

Foreign policy under President Obama has been characterized by ignoring the human rights and security needs of nations like Poland, Tibet, and Israel. Despite more than a half century of resisting the communist domination of Cuba, he has softened that and is likely to abandon it.
He has insisted on a swift withdrawal of troops from Iraq despite the obvious need to provide vital protection against the forces that would undermine its newly minted democracy. He insists on transferring troops to Afghanistan in a war that few regard as anything other than a prolonged insurgency with little prospect of a successful outcome.

Obama may be our first President with Attention Deficit Disorder. He went from declaring we faced an economic “catastrophe” to saying the economy was still strong in just over a month. Maybe that accounts for his dependence on the TelePrompter which, we’re told, goes everywhere he does.

We’re watching an already long list of fatally flawed decisions and I suggest that we are looking at a combination of his socialist ideology, his youth and inexperience, and a narcissism that cannot tolerate criticism no matter its source.

His greatest support comes from a younger generation of Americans with virtually no knowledge of the nation’s history, no grasp of the economic issues affecting it, and no more political insight than to rely on “hope and change” without understanding that these are not, nor ever were sufficient to the task of being in charge of a great nation with great challenges.

Politically, emotionally, and intellectually, Barack Hussein Obama is a child. This has become increasingly evident with every passing day.

It is not too soon to demand those hidden documents. It is not too soon for the Democrats in Congress to realize that supporting his policies represents a grave danger to the nation and their reelection. It is not too soon to begin working to neutralize him by electing a Republican controlled Congress in 2010.

The military’s meritocracy is based on experience that comes with age and proven leadership. We require that our police act in a disciplined and mature way when dealing with law-breakers. We don’t put children in charge of our schools.

We don’t believe or support people who regard carbon dioxide—vital to all life on Earth—to be a “pollutant” that must be regulated and used to raise billions for a profligate government while wrecking its economy.

“The secret of eternal youth is arrested development,” said Alice Longworth Roosevelt, a keen observer of life and the politics of the nation’s capitol. She passed away in 1980, but she would reaffirm the truth of that opinion if she was watching the Obama administration at work.

I’ve said a number of times that I am not a minister, Pastor, Padre, or Reverend. There are times, I admit, when I may SOUND like it, but I assure you, I am not. I’m a southern gentleman (at least I like to think I am a gentleman!) of a “certain” generation.

James Dickey, the former poet laureate of South Carolina and author of a number of novels… one of which you may remember… “Deliverance,” once replied to a reporter’s request to define a southern gentleman said: “A southern gentleman is a southern man with a bible in one hand and a cannon ball in the other.” Well said, sir!

I thought this piece might need a preamble because I’m going to rub up against some religious belief in my scribbling here offered.

"How will diplomatic pressure work to change Hamas or Hezbollah, where even military force has so far failed? If anything, one can predict coming pressure on Israel to acknowledge the legitimacy of these two terrorist groups, and to negotiate with them as equals." Thus said John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the United Nations a few days ago. Bolton also said: "Almost invariably, Israel is the loser - because Israel is the party most dependent on the United States, most subject to U.S. pressure and most susceptible to the inevitable chorus of received wisdom from Western diplomats, media and the intelligentsia demanding concessions. When pressure must be applied to make compromises, it's always easier to pressure the more reasonable side….” Bolton said this is "… bad news for Israel, and for America." Read the story HERE.

Bolton has hit the nail squarely on its head! For some reason, I have yet to understand, “The Left” seems to hold Israel responsible for all the ills of the Middle East. And they go all the way back to the founding of the modern state of Israel as the root cause of those problems. Bolton says the Obama administration sees Israel as one of the biggest problems in the Middle East. He said: "…the Obama administration believes that Israel is as much or more of a problem as it is an ally, at least until Israel's disagreements with its neighbors are resolved."

If Mr. Bolton is to be believed, and I DO believe him, (in fact, I share his opinion of the Obama Administration’s plans to go after Israel) then, Mr. and Mrs. America, you’d better be darned sure your seat belts are snapped in place, and latched securely, because you ain’t seen a bumpy ride for America until she goes after The Chosen People!

Now, I’m not a clergyman… not by any stretch of the imagination. But. I have a fair understanding of the scriptures and as I was raised in an evangelical denomination, added to the fact that my brother is an evangelical minister and a number of my relatives and friends are as well, I am fairly well versed in the evangelical belief about Israel. Those are some of my bona fides to back up what I am about to say.

Many of my evangelical friends are of the belief that America has been under God’s divine protection since its founding. I share their belief that America had a special place in God’s plans for this earth, thus our prosperity, our relative safety, and our extreme good fortune as a nation. I also share my evangelical friends belief that as America began to slip away from obedience to God we have slowly dropped down toward the level of the other nations of the world.

In the last half of the past century America, as seen by the evangelicals, has very nearly severed it’s ties to its heretofore belief in God and obedience to his commands and, as a result, God has been slowly withdrawing his protection from America. America has begun to suffer the same ills as the nations of the world that have not had the relationship with The Almighty America once enjoyed but, sadly, enjoys less today.

The single biggest worry among the evangelicals these days is the belief that only one thing ties that Divine Protection to America today, and one thing ONLY. If, and when, America severs that tie, God’s protection of this country will cease… and… we will be on our own.

What is that one thing? What is that single strand, remaining of the divine rope binding America to God’s protecting hand? Those of us who know, already, have been anxiously watching global developments, holding our collective breathes in the vain hope that the Obama Administration will not sever that link. It appears, however, that our new president is preparing to do just that. Ambassador Bolton gives us increased reason for worry.

For the answer to the question above, we must turn to the scriptures. To be exact, the very first book of the Bible, Genesis, Chapter 12, verse 3: Speaking to Abraham, God makes this promise: “… And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

That’s it. There is that one remaining “tie that binds,” if you will, America to Divine Protection. It is simply “blessing Israel.” Blessing Israel means doing good things to and for Israel, and yes, when needed, acting as the protector for Israel.

America has been there for Israel since it was made a state on May 14th, 1948. But, unfortunately, for America, and the rest of the world, it now appears that America is about to withdraw its support for Israel, and as a result, complete it’s abandonment of God. It will have cataclysmic results for America. If you think the recent terrorist wars and the economic meltdown of our financial system was, and is, a problem, just wait. A time of great tumult and unbelievable woe awaits America when she forsakes Israel.

America is a unique nation. She has survived when she shouldn’t have. She has prospered beyond any nation on the planet. Many Americans believe, to the very core of their being, the reason for that is… Divine Protection. Many of those people supported Mr. Obama’s bid for the Presidency. If Obama continues on a course to pressure Israel to do that, which is plainly harmful to the security of Israel, he will lose the support of those Americans. Worst yet, he will be sealing the fate of this once great nation by severing America’s last tie to the “God of our Fathers.” Then America will truly be adrift at the mercies of the winds and waves of ill fortune.

Let us all hope that Mr. Netanyahu will have the fortitude to stand up to Mr. Obama and, in doing so, save both Israel and America!

A very long time ago I realized that the US seemed to, somehow, have more crises under Democrat administrations. You ever noticed that? Think back, and I’ll bet you will have an epiphany moment, yourself.

Creating a national or international crisis is a long standing, time proven, way for a politician, or a political group, to gain more power, or solidify it’s hold on the power it already has, while it distracts the attention of “The Great Unwashed” from what it is actually doing. By the time the voter’s attention is once again trained on the politician or political group, they have managed to acquire more power than they had and they will explain that it was necessary to get a handle on the crisis (which did not exist before they created it).

Yes, I am talking about the banking, financial, crisis in America today.

Back in September of 2008, I referred to the sudden banking collapse as the “October Surprise in September.” See, I have never been satisfied that that the banking, financial, crisis that suddenly broke upon us with the surprise of a summertime thunderstorm was for real! The timing was just too pat. Something that large, something that HUGE, doesn’t just happen with no warning bells and no whistles going off long before the bottom falls out. I AM satisfied that the democrats/socialists are using it to acquire more power for themselves and, as we said above, solidify their hold on power so as to forestall any chance the republicans might have of regaining control of the Congress and the White House in 2010 and 2012.

And YES, I am sticking my neck out by saying that here. Well, maybe not. I mean… who is going to believe an ole country boy about such as this, anyway? You see, part of the plan is to demonize anyone for having the temerity to actually say ”The King Has No Clothes!” That’s all a part of the scheme. That’s how it works.

Still think I am wrong? Well, ask yourself why the president and the democrats are doing absolutely NOTHING to correct the banking situation. But… they ARE ramming the bailouts through, the stimulus bills through, and a slew of new rules and regulations that you and I would be up in arms about… if… we could just tear our attention away for the threat to our money, to our 401K’s, and our stocks, and hell, our personal treasures! But we can’t… and the scam by the democrats/socialists moves forward at blinding speed.

Americans were told the “Big Lie” and we bought it lock, stock, and barrel! It is a Marxist technique and since we have a government filled with Marxists these days you must stay up on your “Rules of Marxism.” Why, this technique even has a name! In Political Science it is referred to as the “Hegelian Dialectic.”

Now, dear reader, as it appears we have reached a point in this commentary that might be construed as a “teaching moment” permit me, please:

As I try to explain the Hegelian Dialectic, please keep, in mind what is happening in America and yes, in the rest of the world, right at this moment:

OK. The Hegelian Dialectic is a process those folks in charge, the folks we call “the elite.” (I refer to them often as “The Shadow Government”) use to actually create a problem. The problem can be on, basically, any scale and the Hegelian Dialectic can be used at any level of government from the small town city hall to the US Congress. The folks who create the crisis have already determined, before the kick off of their manufactured crisis, how the public will react. Believe me, Mr. and Mrs. America; reaction to a given crisis, by us, is easy to anticipate. Why? Because those puppet masters, I mentioned above, “condition” us first. They begin to condition us that CHANGE is NEEDED! Get that word…CHANGE. Have you heard it before, perhaps?

When the conditioning is complete… as in winning an election, the malefactors behind all this then present their agenda for “fixing” the crisis. They assure the public it IS the solution, the ONLY solution. And here is where the second part of the Hegelian Dialectic comes into play: The solution they assure you is the right one, isn’t really the solution at all, but serves as the foundation for yet another crisis, another new problem, or, in the end, it will make the existing problem worse. At this point the cycle begins again. All the while, the elite are gaining more and more power over you and me.

Look, you may choose to call me crazy, if you like. I don’t mind. But what I have just told you is true. You and I see it played out, right in front of our eyes, day after day in our city council meetings, in our county commissioners meetings, in our state legislatures, and in our Congress. It is the way Public Policy is made. Yes, you and I ARE herded as if we were sheep.

So… what is the goal? I have concluded, rightly or wrongly, that here in America it is to assure the Democrats/Socialists continued control of the US government as far into the future as the eye can see. Internationally, it is to eventually bring about “Global Governance”… what you and I would refer to as “One World Government.”

If there is anything worse that having this scheme played on you and not knowing about it… it is having this scheme played on you, and recognize what is happening, sound the warning and your fellow citizens totally ignore you and go right on playing into the hands of those who pull their strings. That is maddening!

We have lost our country to the global governance group, and we are well on the way to losing our entire civilization to them. The only question remaining is what do we do to get our country back and rally enough support to save, at least, a part of the world?

Every time I hear someone say something about “saving the Earth” I want to say, “Are you out of your mind?”

The Earth is some 4.5 billion—that’s billion with a b—years old. How did it ever manage to exist without us? How did it survive ice ages, meteor impacts, and all the other stuff that went on before homo sapiens decided to climb down out of the trees and walk upright?

If human beings are responsible for “global warming” how did the Earth manage to get through various earlier stages such as the Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, Paleocene, Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene, Pleistocene, and our era, the Holocene which reaches back a mere 10,000 years; a period that matches up with the ending of the last major ice age.

One of the distinguishing features of these and other earlier periods of Earth’s history is the repeated evidence of mass extinctions. Since humans weren’t around to take the blame for them, what did cause them? There is evidence that it was the result of magnetic reversals.

For far too long I have been listening to people who are absolutely convinced that human beings are “destroying” the Earth. Three quarters of the Earth is under water. Oceans are the largest part of the Earth’s surface. Most of the land is uninhabitable or not arable. You can’t farm it and you probably wouldn’t want to live there.

The parts, mostly cities, where human beings congregate range from being vast slums to gleaming towers of commerce or condos. If you’re wealthy, living in such places can be very enjoyable. If you live in the slum, you hope you can find a tasty tidbit at the neighborhood garbage dump.

Virtually none of these people, rich or poor, spends a lot of time thinking about “saving the Earth” unless, of course, there’s a buck to be made while allegedly doing so.

There’s lots of money to be made these days in “saving the Earth.” If you’re the owner of a solar or wind farm, the government can’t wait to lavish millions of taxpayer’s—other people’s—dollars on your enterprise. Same holds true if you make moonshine…oops, I mean ethanol.

Then, if you’re Al Gore, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Oscar winner, Grammy winner, winner of the Nashville Bingo Night Jamboree, you are going to score millions by telling people that the Earth is coming to an end any day now and, to prevent this, you need to buy the lighter-than-air “carbon credits” he’s selling. The government wants to get in on this bonanza with a “cap-and-trade” program to limit greenhouse gas emissions in order to prevent a global warming that is not happening.

Meanwhile, other charlatans are busy selling an interest in their carbon sequestration scams or just selling you anything that comes packaged as “eco” anything. Paying more for something “Green” just marks you as a chump.

So who are these people kidding when they talk about saving the Earth? YOU!

And who do these people dislike for despoiling Gaia or Mother Earth? YOU!

None of us, individually or all six billion, can “save the Earth”, but there are a few things we can avoid doing. At the top of the list is littering. Did you see the photo of the Capitol Mall after everyone got through celebrating the inauguration of the Anointed One? Ugh.

In fact, that is pretty much the entire list as far as I am concerned. Don’t litter. Clean up after yourself.

And for those still preaching to other people about saving the Earth, just stop. It makes you look and sound like an idiot.

A wise man once said: “Freedom stands on five boxes: The Soap Box, The Ballot Box, the Jury Box, the Witness Box, and… the Cartridge Box.

Just as we predicted, gun sales and ammo sales are going through the roof in America. It did not take the use of my crystal ball to foretell this on-going event. All it took was a wee bit of common sense and paying attention to the world around me.

Back in November, Americans went against nearly everything the founders of the country stood for and elected a socialist president and bolstered the strength of leftists in our national legislature with even more socialists who continue to refer to themselves as democrats. Now we, for (NEARLY) all intents and purposes, have a socialist government in America.

If you take the time to read up on socialism you find, almost immediately… in every definition, that socialism is defined as the first step a nation takes towards communism. As of this hour, America stands divided --- right down the middle. Half the country has expressed a desire to go socialist/communist, and the other half has expressed a desire to remain a free, democratic nation. Even an idiot knows “a nation divided cannot stand.”

As much as I despise saying this, it does appear a fight is brewing. Those Americans who wish to preserve America as a free nation are gearing up with the intention of manning the barricades to defend liberty in this country, at least their half of the country, anyway. Somehow, and this is really depressing, somehow, the socialists in America cannot get their minds wrapped around the fact that “liberty loving Americans” are prepared to take up arms to defend their country. Indeed, those “liberty loving Americans” are rushing to procure arms and ammunition for what they fear might, at some point, become more than a verbal fight.

Other nations of the world are looking at Americans and they see it, as well. The “Chi-Comms”, (the Chinese Communists) who have been underwriting America’s debt for many years now, are concerned that if America begins to break, they, the Chinese, stand an exceedingly good chance of losing all the money they have lent us over the years. They are worried. China’s Premier, Wen Jiabao, just recently said: "We have made a huge amount of loans to the United States. Of course we are concerned about the safety of our assets. To be honest, I'm a little bit worried, I would like to call on the United States to honor its words, stay a credible nation and ensure the safety of Chinese assets." Wen made those comments at a news conference at the close of China's annual legislative session March 13th.

Just how serious is it? It is far more serious than the average American knows, at the moment. I don’t expect the MSM will cover this story any more than they absolutely must. To get a true feel for what is happening in America today you have to go to the regional news outlets, such as regional newspapers, and small town papers. The Mainstream Media is not going to print anything that might bring into question the great Socialist Utopia they supported by going into the tank for Obama. Even as their great journalistic empires crash down around their shoulders, as is happening today, they simply cannot let loose of their leftist agenda and print the news that accurately reflects what is happening in American society today… just a few weeks into the Obama administration. To learn the truth you have to look elsewhere. And that is what we did.

There is an excellent article at the “Tulsa World” site. It is entitled: “Sales of guns, ammo still high” with a subtitle of: “One shop says the "hoarding" of ammunition since Obama's election has created a shortage.” You’ll find it HERE.

If you have been laboring under the mistaken impression that an Obama presidency would “unite” the nation” this article might shed some light on the just how wrong you are. It is entitled: “Liberals told to leave. An instructor for a hunter safety course orders Obama voters to get out of his class.” You’ll find it HERE. If nothing else, this story demonstrates the depth of the distrust and the degree of repugnance of, and for, the socialists now in charge of our country, by a huge cross section of the American population.

The fact is that public confidence in the government, by Americans, is low and getting even lower… rapidly! There is a “must read” article at the Wall Street Journal website entitled: “Obama's Poll Numbers Are Falling to Earth.” The article is by Douglas E. Schoen and Scott Rasmussen. You will find it HERE.

The socialists and the neo-socialists, who populate Congress today, have done exactly as we expected and even predicted they would do. They have over-reached. The backlash has begun. Tar and feathers and rails will be selling at a premium very soon now.

How Do You Like “CHANGE” So Far?

For all you American voters who wanted change, well, you got it! The country is broke, unemployment is through the roof, and our great grandchildren are broke long before they are even a twinkle in their dad’s eye. The economy is headed for the bottom and, so far, we can’t see the bottom! Boy, things sure have changed!

The new commander-in-chief tells the enemy when American troops will be leaving the battlefield in Iraq, in effect, ceding the war to the enemy. Does anybody REALLY think Iraq will remain a free democratic country once US troops leave?

And then there is Afghanistan. The brand new commander-in-chief is sending more troops into a war that is practically un-winnable. I mean… how do you wage war against a gaggle of un-united tribes? Sure you can choose one tribe, and pacify it. Then you have to go pacify another and another and another ad infinitum. It is a war that will never be won. Waging war against the Taliban is akin to fighting a cult. It is not a nation with a government and a central leader. Without someone, on the enemy’s side, to declare they have lost and seek surrender terms… how do you know you have won, even if you do, somehow, happen to win? Heck, it is even confusing me as I try to write this rant!

So, as I am pondering the change wrought by the new US administration, I pick up the paper a few days ago and I see a wire story that the President is considering reviewing the ban on homosexuals serving openly in the US military. The White House says the change will strengthen our armed forces and our national security. Why, that alone tells you all you ever need to know about the current administration’s knowledge about the military and how it operates. Zip! Zero! NOTHING! If everything else failed to convince you that Obama is a social liberal from the far left, this one thing ought to settle that issue for you once and for all.

There are millions of military veterans out here in the hinterlands of America who know how totally wrong it is to allow homosexuals to serve openly in the US military. We’ve been there. We’ve done that… and we know! But this is the kind of action you would expect from a President who has absolutely no knowledge of the military and from a political party that has disdain for the military. For some reason the Democrats seem to want to play their social engineering games with the military. Much like despot regimes force prisoners to take part in drug testing, and such, the democrats apparently see a captive lot in our military… captives with whom they can do darn near as they please. This kind of social engineering only demonstrates the deep disrespect the democrats have for all military personnel.

The US military has had, in place the “Don ‘t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy for homosexuals in the military in place since 1993. Under the terms of that policy homosexuals could serve in the US military as long as they kept quiet about their sexual orientation and didn’t go public with it, by admitting it, or openly taking part in homosexual activity. If either occurred, homosexuals were shown the door and bade farewell from the US Military.

This move by the Obama Administration comes as no surprise to yours truly. Back in July of 2008 I wrote the following: “So why is this coming up now? The answer is simple. Take a look at what is probably going to happen n November. The most liberal senator in the US Senate is probably going to win the next election and become the President of the US. Add to that the increase in numbers in the Congress of ultra-liberal democrats cinching their control over the two branches of the government and with a Supreme Court that is almost as liberal as it is conservative… and you have to ask??? The “iron will be hot” and they intend to strike. There is no reason to believe they will fail in striking down any and all laws that might keep homosexuals out of the US military. Don’t ask, don’t tell is doomed. Bet on it!

Get used to it. A liberal/progressive/socialist/Marxist take over of the US government is in the offing. We old fogies who believe in freedom had a pretty good run, but we are no longer wanted and the Eurocrats and Neocomms (New Commies) are set to take over and roll back the freedom(s) we worked so hard to preserve for nearly three centuries. The destruction of the hated US Military is just one of their goals. And that is why the issue has resurfaced at this particular time.”

Look, the bottom line is this: if you really want to see recruitment drop off, simply allow homosexuals to serve openly in the US military. The rate of “re-ups” will drop immediately as will recruitment numbers. Many Soldiers, Sailors Marines, Airmen, and Coastguardsmen will not re-enlist when their current enlistment is up. I don’t blame them. Many parents and guardians of young men and women who are required to sign papers to express their willingness for their son or daughter to enlist, will not sign those papers. Young men and women who cannot, for religious purposes, associate with homosexuals, will not sign up… and the list goes on and on.

As recruitment numbers drop a military draft will become necessary. A draft is wonderful… if… you are going for warm bodies and/or cannon fodder. But to get the quality of young men and women required by today’s high tech military we must have bright, well-educated, young men and women. Allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the US military will not strengthen the military. it will destroy it.

I read recently that a proposal for a National I.D. card for American citizens may soon be back on the table for consideration by US Lawmakers. There are some who believe approval for a National ID card is growing.

I have to ask: what is wrong with Americans? Are we sheep to be herded by a National Shepherd? Where is the individualism that won this country from the British and then stretched it across the entire continent to the shores of the Pacific? Even the oceans could not hold back our burning desire for FREEDOM! Yet, today, we are begging the federal government to take our freedoms away! This is scandalous! This borders on cowardice of the highest magnitude!

Are we so quick to give back the liberties bought with the precious blood of our forefathers, our ancestors, and in many cases our immediate relatives? In cemeteries all over the globe lie the bodies of American men and women who put their lives on the line and shed their blood up to the "last full measure" to ensure you and I the freedoms we are now begging the Federal Government to take away!

Some example we are setting for the rest of the world! Look at the cowardly Americans. They talk a good game but when the going gets tough they run to hide under the wings of the Federal Nanny!

Our national motto is: "In God We Trust." Apparently it’s a lie! If we truly placed our trust in God we would not be so hasty to misplace it in a government, which is already too big and intrusive.

There comes a time when we have to stand on our own two feet. Sure there is risk involved in living free! That's why it's called freedom. It means, simply, that you (you and I) take responsibility for ourselves! Example: If I'm afraid to get on a plane.... then I WON'T get on a plane! We have to understand, as did our forefathers, that living free does not mean, necessarily, living secure! To live free, it is required that we must live with certain insecurities, or risks.

There is also the thing called “respect” and “self-respect.” Respect is earned. You earn the respect of your fellowman, and the respect of the world, by standing on your own two feet as a man! You do not earn respect by leaning on others… and that includes leaning on the government. Modern day Americans have forgotten that that. I am embarrassed, as an American, to find that I even feel I have to explain that to my fellow Americans!

Something profound has happened to Americans. That steel in our character is gone. That “damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead” characteristic of American manhood is not there anymore. As a result, our way of life, our freedom, indeed, our nation is at risk. American used to be known for sticking their finger in the eye of government.

I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me. I am proud of my ancestors who were bootleggers and smugglers. They left me more than fond memories. They left me with a strong distrust of government. I think that distrust is healthy. They left me something else as well. They made me understand that the government is not responsible for me. They taught me that a man is always responsible for himself. They taught me that the more I depended on government the more dependence government would require until I had nothing left to give and then I would find that I was a slave to that government.

The historian Edward Gibbon had it about right when he wrote of ancient Athens: "In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life and they lost it all… security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted NOT TO GIVE TO SOCIETY BUT FOR SOCIETY TO GIVE TO THEM, when the freedom they wanted most was FREEDOM FROM RESPONSIBILITY, then ATHENS CEASED TO BE FREE...AND NEVER WAS FREE AGAIN!

I agree that we need some government. But, I believe, as did our forefathers, that the government, especially the federal government was, and is, intended to be an agent of the states, and not the other way around! Our American Founders believed a federal government was answerable to the states… not the states to the federal government.

I believe the government does some things well.... as it should. One such thing is "provide for the common defense" with a well trained and equipped military. I believe as did one of our founding fathers, Thomas Paine, one of the early “pamphleteers” (Most likely a “Blogger” today!) who said: "Government, even in its best state, is a necessary evil; in it's worse state, and intolerable one." (From: Common Sense).

In this Democratic Republic we call America; it is up to us, the citizens, to keep our government on a short rein. Indeed, it is our duty, as citizens, to keep the tentacles of government out of our every day existence. They have no business there. We must be wary of "Knee-Jerk" responses to danger, real or imagined, such as I believe the National I.D. Card to be. If the government wants to "Card" somebody, why not make every one not a citizen of this country carry one (An I.D. Card) while inside our borders?

How dangerous is Big Government? Well, I believe Alexis de Tocqueville summed it up nicely when writing of the dangers of big government. Tocqueville said of big government: "it covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds, and the most energetic characters, cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, extinguishes, and stupefies people, 'til each nation is reduced to be nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd." (Alexis de Tocqueville on "Big Government".)

Well, there you have it. Animals with a shepherd!

I don't know about you, but I don't want to be counted among the animals that need a shepherd. I, like millions of Americans before me, will live free! I do not choose to beg the government to take back the liberty my ancestors fought and died that I might have. It's blasphemy!

I want my grandchildren to live, and grow up, in a free country. A country, which will allow them to be everything they are capable of being. I don't want their prospects to be lessened by the intrusions of government. I owe them that. I owe them an America in which they can be FREE. Free to succeed and, yes, free to fail! I owe them an America my father, and my forefathers, placed in my safe keeping (as did yours) at my (our) birth. To be worthy custodians of this nation’s freedom, we must insure that we pass it along no less free that when we received it!

As I look about me today, at modern day America, I have to conclude we have failed at the single most important task we have as adult Americans. That task is to preserve freedom in this country… to guarantee a future for our children in a free nation. A National ID card is much the same as a tattooed number on your forearm. It is proof of ownership… by someone other than you. Next will come the National RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chip implanted at birth. It will broadcast a radio signal all the days of your life telling the government who you are, and where you are, at all times. National ID, of any kind, takes away one of your basic rights, the right to privacy.

It is time to get a grip, America! Our National Anthem says: “…The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” Well, don’t you think it is about time we began to act like it? A National ID card would say to the world just the opposite.

After spending time at the largest gathering of world class climatologists, meteorologists, physicists, engineers, and economists, among other very brainy folks, I came away with the feeling that the battle remains joined by this hearty group, otherwise derided as skeptics and deniers of global warming.

The occasion was the second annual International Conference on Climate Change sponsored by The Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based free market think tank. The place was New York City and the gathering involved seminars on all aspects of the bogus science put forth by the global warming alarmists. The conclusion should come as no surprise. There simply is no valid science that supports the claim that the Earth has warmed dramatically, is warming dramatically, or is likely to warm dramatically.

I find it almost amusing—if it weren’t so important—that the alarmists never make any mention of the fact, verified by weather satellites, that the Earth has been in a decade-long cooling trend and some who have examined it think it will continue for twenty or thirty more years. The increased severity of winter weather events around the world is testament to that. It is not getting warmer. It is getting colder.

Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic and serving also in a rotating term as president of the European Union, received a standing ovation at the beginning and end of his presentation. “Their true plans and ambitions (are) to stop economic development and return mankind centuries back,” said Klaus of the globally united environmental organizations and the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

It’s worth pointing out that the IPCC is not about “science”; it is about “government” as the name implies and, despite claims of scientific authority, its computer climate models and the claims based on them are held in universal disdain by the relative handful of men who understand climate or weather.

As Klaus noted, the alarmists are “not able to explain why the global temperature increased from 1918, decreased from 1940 to 1976, increased from 1976 to 1998, and decreased from 1998 to the present, irrespective of the fact that the people have been adding increasing amounts of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.”“It is evident that the environmentalists don’t want to change the climate. They want to change our behavior…to control and manipulate us,” said Klaus. That’s what all totalitarian regimes want to do.

Sadly, anyone watching the behavior of leading scientific organizations knows that they have thrown their prestige behind the alarmists, giving awards and honors to the likes of Al Gore and NASA’s James Hansen when it is obvious to all that both are engaged in the worst kind of hucksterism and charlatanism. Many of these organization’s members are less than thrilled by this further evidence of the politicization of science.

Great dangers do exist for Americans and others around the world for whom the Big Lie of carbon dioxide emissions is being used by the White House and in Congress to justify legislation that would impose “cap and trade” regulations and by an Environmental Protection Agency that is poised to regulate CO2 as a “pollutant” under auspices of the Clean Air Act. It is a massive fraud.

It will prove enormously costly to every kind of business and industry in America. It has the potential of undermining the economy to a point where we shall never be able to recover from the present financial crisis.

All this was on the minds of those attending the conference. It should be on your mind too and it is why you have to ask your elected representatives and senators, “Why do you want to raise my energy prices?” That’s the ultimate punishment every American will bear because regulation of CO2 is about energy use of every description.

Why do you want to raise my energy prices? If they tell you it’s because of global warming, tell them you will not vote for them and in 2010, vote them out of office!

Compared to the thousands of environmentalists running about issuing notices of doom, a gathering of 800 men and women from around the world may not seem like much, but they have something beyond value on their side; the truth!

If there is a party in DC it must be at the White House and it must be the Obamas!

Turns out the Obamas are the America’s number one party animals!

While the rest of America stays home at night, burns the lights as little as possible to conserve on electricity, and the precious money it takes to pay the power bill, the Obamas are partying! Yeah, man, party ON!

While Americans hit the sack early so they can be out bright and early the next morning, job-hunting, the Obamas are partying until well after midnight!

Yep! The two things Obama has in common with the Roman emperor Nero… both were/are party animals and both had their countries crumbling about them as they partied!

Why does this not surprise me? Because we, here at IOF, had the man pegged right out of the shute! Look, a politician must be able to feign (fake) earnestness. Once you can do that, and do it well, you’ve got it made in politics. Obama is absolutely splendid at faking earnestness. The shrinks will tell you people will follow a person who seems to know where he is going. Thus, the expression “Sheeple.”

Oh, did I mention that is your money? Uh-huh. Yep. Maybe not ALL of it, but certainly a HUGE chunk of it comes from the US treasury.

Look, I have done my time at cocktail parties, dinner parties, and dances and I learned I am about as comfortable in the dentist’s chair as I am at a gathering of that type. But, that is just me. As I remember, though, I attended only two dinner parties that were funded by taxpayers and both those were with the governor at the gubernatorial mansion. And the great state of North Carolina was not crumbling around us as we partied!

It is just unseemly. It is just not done! Not in polite circles. You don’t throw a party in the middle of misery… unless, apparently, you are the Obamas.

So now “Freedom Watch” is investigating the parties in an attempt to determine from the General Services Administration how much taxpayer money is actually being spent on these lavish galas. Larry Klayman, founder, Chairman and General Counsel of Freedom Watch issued the following statement:

“This party atmosphere sends the wrong message to the American people. As the Obama-Clinton crowd party on, the American people are suffering greatly. It was right to criticize corporate execs for using taxpayer bailout money on bonuses and corporate junkets. In the face of this criticism, it is an outrage for Barack and Michelle Obama to party on, as Rome burns. It’s like throwing a party at a funeral.” You can read their press release HERE.

We have been warning for months now that we feel the presidential election of 2008 was the last “free” election this country will ever see. I must tell you, the Obama administration is doing nothing to ease my mind and, in fact, continues to make moves that solidify our belief that the 2010 election, and elections beyond, will be nothing more than shams.

With the White House controlling the US Census, opportunities for cooking the numbers, any numbers, are abundant. Some are calling Obama’s grab for the census "the biggest White House power grab ever.” Earlier, Republicans in the US House of Representatives said the White House had "an unprecedented plan" for the census that "will taint results and open doors to massive waste of taxpayer funds.”

So… what the heck is going on? I mean, this is the C E N S U S, already! Why is the census so almighty important to one side, or the other, in DC?

Well, it turns out there really is a red hot power struggle going on between Republicans and Democrats over which party will control the 2010 census. Mostly below the radar, it hasn’t gained much notice… until now.

Remember, it has been 30 years since the last census was taken under a democratic administration. You may recall that when Republican Senator Judd Gregg announced, a few days ago, that he no longer wanted to be the US Secretary of Commerce nominee he said that the decision was based, in part, on serious disagreements with the Obama White House over the 2010 census. Yep, that’s what he said… and it flew right past my head without me even seeing it!

Turns out the fur began to fly on the democratic side of the aisle upon the announcement that Gregg, a Republican, would be in charge of the head count. Finally, Obama’s people had to issue a statement that, yeah, Gregg would be in charge, but… he would be “working CLOSELY with White House Senior Management.”
Well, that statement rankled folks on BOTH sides of the aisle up to, and including Gregg! Some on the left saw it as a change in policy. On the right, they saw it as a “power grab.” Nobody was happy and everybody, it seems, was PO’ed…. again, up to and including Gregg. It was along about this point when the White House issued a statement that: "this administration has not proposed removing the Census from the Department of Commerce."
So that clarified everything and everybody settle down, right? Well… NO.

Now, you gotta ask… Why the heck is counting heads so dad-blamed important, anyway?

To give you a broad answer… it goes something like this: Republicans tend to favor “undercounts” while Democrats tend to favor “overcounts.”

Still don’t get it?

OK. Lemme try again: Turns out that overcounts and undercounts can result in vastly different numbers for demographic groups and localities — and they have huge political and policy implications. Basically this fight is over WHOM the census counts and HOW the census goes about counting them.

The US Constitution demands that every ten years the government must count heads to learn how many Americans there really are. It has been done every ten years since 1790. Counting Americans is and always has been a real pain in the posterior! America is a fluid society. Americans are aways, it seems, in motion. The Census Bureau first mails out those aggravating questionnaires Americans are supposed to fill out and send back in. Then, the bureau sends out “census takers” to hunt down those folks who did not send their questionnaire back and/or those people living in US unknown to the government. See, the census is supposed to determine how many people are living in the United States, both legals and illegals. They will try to visit those folks who have not returned the questionnaire and they must also try to count people who have no address such as the “homeless”, and prisoners, and the elderly in nursing homes and such. Needless to say, there are folks living in the US who had rather the government, or the government’s minions, not know they are here. So they get scarce until the census takers move on. And, of course, there are folks who had rather the government knew as little about them as possible. Children, we have learned, are often left out of census figures. To put it mildly, it ain’t easy!

People get left out. Even whole communities get left out of the head count and some communities get counted more than once, some multiple times. Again, to put it mildly, it is a mess! Back in 1990 some 8 million people were not counted. Wait, that is an estimate. The truth is… they STILL don’t know, for sure, how many people were not counted. Some 4 million white folks were counted twice… uh… they think.

We’ve learned the Census Bureau uses statistical modeling and sampling methods to come up with estimated counts of many, many, demographic groups in the country but the argument about the accuracy of those methods grinds ever onward as to whether the estimates generated by those methods actually make the census more accurate or less accurate. The argument is substantive enough that the Supreme Court decided, back in 1999, that estimates generated from sampling could not be used for reapportionment of congressional seats.

Here’s the thing: redistricting of local districts and reapportionment of congressional seats is based on census counts. See, a state could pick up a seat(s) or lose a seat(s) based on its population. The size, and sometimes the shapes, of political districts within a state are determined by population increases, decreases, and shifts within the state itself. Remember, redrawing political boundaries is based on the census numbers. You can easily see how a political party’s influence in a state and the Congress is affected by the census count.

And then there is the money. Those same census numbers help to determine which states get how much, or how little, federal money in federal grants and other federal disbursements of money. Democrats say Republicans deliberately undercount to keep money from cash starved communities. Republicans say democrats overcount to create new congressional districts favorable to them, to keep them in power. Plus, the Republicans say the sampling method is unconstitutional since the constitution calls for an actual count, not estimates generated by some mathematical formula.

So, the fight over the 2010 census has just begun. It will get worse as we get closer to the actual counting. You can look for the “F” word… “fraud”… to be thrown around a lot. Since the Democrats own the White House, this time around, look for them to be on the receiving end of the vast majority of the slings and arrows of the latest decennial debate.

A friend asked me the other day what I thought President Ronald Reagan would think of Obama. It only took a moment to answer. "He'd laugh!", I said. Then I added: "A real side-splitter!" It was an honest answer and one I believe is true.

I think Ronald Reagan, if he were to suddenly re-appear upon this earth for a brief visit and be told that Obama was President, would, indeed, break up in near uncontrollable laughter. Reagan would think someone was playing a practical joke on him. He would just KNOW Americans had better sense!

I can hear Ronnie saying, "Why, he's just a, uh, child! A grown man, yes. But, still a naive child. A narcissistic child, at that!" Then, he'd laugh again, enjoying the joke, still unconvinced that Americans could do that to themselves and to their country.

After Reagan watched a few videos of Obama's speeches, the smile would slowly drain from Reagan's face as he scanned the adoring, worshipful, faces of the crowd while some fainted in their passion for the boy/man "messiah" and I can hear the crestfallen President say in a voice grown husky in bitter remembrance: "I've seen those faces before.... in Berlin in the 1930's." Then, Ronald Reagan would weep.

One of my "E-mail Buddies" sent me the piece below a few days ago. I have no idea who put it together, but I'd like to thank them.

As America continues her decline and collapse, under the heavy hand of socialism, Americans are going to need memories of the America we used to know to hold on to, to sustain us, until we can rescue our beloved America from the clutches of the power-hungry, left-wing elite currently strangling the life out of her.

As you read the "Reagan Gems" below and remember the America of greatness, the America that once led the world, challenge yourself to do all in your power to keep those memories alive. And prepare. As Thomas Jefferson said: " Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God."

You know, democracy is, quite likely, the greatest gamble a nation can take. For there is no guarantee "The People" will not vote in a tyrant as their leader. When that happens, as it sometimes does, then it is up to the same people to prepare for the tyrants reign and the tyrant's removal.

British author Aldous Huxley once said: "So long as men worship the Caesars and Napoleons, the Caesars and Napoleons will arise to make them miserable." That was the danger some of us on the right tried so dutifully to warn America of during the last presidential campaign.

Thomas Jefferson once said: "Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny."

I ask you to look objectively at our government today and ask yourself if you are truly comfortable with that much power in the hands of THOSE people. If you find you are comfortable, then, dear reader, you need to wake up and begin paying attention!

Now we have the yoke of socialism chained across our shoulders and around our necks. We Americans, yes, WE placed it there. Soon we will be completely dependant upon the government for our very existance.

To my fellow Americans I say, that is NOT living FREE! That is SLAVERY!

If you have been paying attention, at all, you know the US and Israel are on a collision course. Wait a minute! Let me make that a bit clearer. The Obama Administration is on a collision course with Israel, and by Israel I mean the coming Netanyahu Administration there.

The Obama Administration/Regime is supporting a state for Palestine. Netanyahu does not. (My money is on Netanyahu. As a matter of fact, I wish he were qualified to be President of the US and would agree to run in 2012. But, alas, it isn’t going to happen!)

Mrs. Bill Clinton, the US SecState, is going to be pushing Bebe, as hard as she can, toward a two-state deal. Bebe is not going to move. Threats will be made… SOME will be carried out. Money will be cut off. SOME money will be cut off. Our Christian/Islamic (?) President is already pouring billions into to Gaza for Hamas and he will get all persnickety about it. Bebe will not kow tow and kiss his feet. That will rankle Obama.

Look, the creation of a Palestinian state will do nothing to bring stability to the region. In fact, there will be more war, more instability, and more suffering.

A Palestinian state would effectively open up a front that starts ten miles from Tel Aviv and reaches 1,000 miles deep across the Arabian Peninsula to Teheran. That, alone, will be cause for Israel to go on their highest military alert and stay there 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In other words… all the time. The buffer zone Israel counts on to give her time to activate her reserves and get them mobilized will no longer exist. That short period of time, so vital for the defense of Israel, will be gone. Therefore, Israel will have no choice but to adopt what, for all practical purposes, will be a “state of war” as a normal, everyday, lifestyle.

There is a school of thought, in Israel, which says Israel would not be the first target of a Palestinian State military. That distinction, according to this theory, must go to the country of Jordan whose population is 80% Palestinian. This line of thinking has it that the Palestinians will want to complete the coup against the Hashemite Kingdom they began back in 1970. The Palestinian State will certainly want to clear the region of its one remaining moderate, western-oriented Arab state. Once that job is completed and their military enlarged by the “Jordanian/Palestinians,” THEN they can turn their attention to Israel.

How dimwitted is it for the US to put any trust in the government of a state whose children’s textbooks teach “holy war” against Israel?

Mrs. Clinton has been assuring the Middle Eastern states that the Obama Regime is determined to continue the Bush policy of two-states as a solution to the brawl between Israel and the Arab terrorists who insist on calling themselves Palestinians. Again, it is a dumb idea for the US. No matter the president… it is D U M B!

Lets see: Right now we have Syria, Iraq, and Iran giving us pain in the posterior and the Obama Regime is dead set on adding a fourth with a state of Palestine? Again, I ask, how dimwitted is this? But, I forget! We have the “creame de la creame” in DC, the “best and the brightest” of the academicians, many of whom seem to be educated beyond their collective abilities, concocting these schemes from left-wing dreams of “group-hugs” among nations.

So, we must ask ourselves just how prepared are the Arabs (aka Palestinians) for statehood, anyway? Has there been any preparation for oh, say, industrialization? How about their work on developing export markets? Have they given any thought to negotiating trade arrangements with their next-door neighbor, Israel? I think we all know the answer to all the above is… NO. So, it is safe, then, to assume that a state of Palestine would be wracked with poverty which will require billions of dollars in foreign aid from which the chieftains will bleed off their shares and get rich while piling up hordes of cash in numbered bank accounts far from the Middle East.

No, a Palestinian state will only ensure the continuation of war, terrorism, and bloodshed. The one thing we can be sure it will not bring to the Middle East is… peace.

States’ Sovereignty Granted by the US Constitution

Every so often an issue comes along that continues to nag at me until it precipitates some sort of action. The “State Sovereignty Movement” has done that.

As I have observed over the past weeks and months the “State Sovereignty Movement” continues to sweep the nation with very nearly half the fifty states taking action through their respective state legislatures, I have become uneasy that I have not seen, nor heard, of any action emanating from the NC General Assembly.

I did a little research, on the web, and learned that the silence I sensed from Raleigh was just that… silence. So far, North Carolina has not taken up the matter, at least in public.

So, being a good citizen, I decided that I ought to draw the attention of my State Representative and my State Senator to the “State Sovereignty Movement” and, while I was at it, the Governor of the Great State of North Carolina, as well. I patched together a letter and sent it by e-mail to all three. Below is the text of that letter:


Dear Representative, Senator, and Governor of North Carolina:

As you know a number of states in the US are re-asserting their state’s sovereignty under the 9th and 10th Amendments to the US Constitution as a means to stop or, at least retard, the uncontrolled expansion of the federal government’s power. As of this writing nearly half of the nation’s state legislatures are considering, or have representatives actually preparing to introduce, resolutions in their respective state legislatures, which re-assert the principles of the 9th and 10th Amendments to the US Constitution and, in particular, the idea that federal power is strictly limited to specific areas which are detailed in the Constitution and that all other governmental authority rests with the states.

It is my firm belief that the balance of power in this nation has tilted much too far, and for entirely too long, toward the federal government and I believe it is now time for the states to begin a restoration of that balance.

Please do not misunderstand. This is not a movement toward secession. I have no wish for such an end. My ancestors tried that and suffered greatly for it, as did this state. I have no interest in secession… at all.

Here is the gist of it: I am of the belief that the Founding Fathers of this country intended a balance of power between the states and the federal government. Their writings make it clear they did. For Instance, James Madison, the “Father of the Constitution,” wrote: ”The powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the state governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, [such] as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. The powers reserved to the several states will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people.” (From “The Federalist”)

I only suggest it is time for the State of North Carolina to re-assert her rights and tell the federal government enough is enough. We have had our fill of “unfunded mandates” and run away federal government. It is time, I believe, to tell the federal government that the state of North Carolina is tired of the US Congress passing legislation which dictates policy to North Carolina, and handing that policy down from Washington without adequate federal funding and with the federal government expecting, and intending, that the treasury of North Carolina bear the cost of those programs. Oftimes, those unfunded programs, are programs, which the people of the state of North Carolina had no real say, no real input, in approving. It is, I believe, time to tell the federal government to cease and desist mandates that are beyond the scope of it’s constitutionally delegated powers. Further, I believe the state of North Carolina should insist, as does the state of Arizona, that all compulsory federal legislation that directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or sanctions, or requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.

The “State Sovereignty Movement” is sweeping the nation with some twenty states demanding the federal government operate within the powers granted it by the US Constitution. I am given to understand that Oklahoma, Washington, Hawaii, Missouri, Arizona, New Hampshire, Georgia, California, Michigan, and Montana will all, definitely, consider sovereignty bills this year. Some say there is a good chance they will be joined by Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Alaska, Kansas, Alabama, Nevada, Maine, and Pennsylvania. Legislators in those latter states have pledged to introduce similar bills this year.

I respectfully ask that you consider introducing/supporting a State Sovereignty Resolution in the NC Legislature this session. You know the budget constraints this state is suffering and you know the federal government is making it worse, not better, and, too, the current administration is likely to hand down even more unfunded mandates in the months just ahead.

I submit, Sir/Madam, the people of the state of North Carolina are frustrated with the federal government’s dictating how North Carolina spends her money. It is time, indeed, I believe past time, for the Tar Heel State to stand up for her rights, granted under the US Constitution, and demand that the federal government begin acting as the agent of the people of the states as the US Constitution intended and made clear.

I respectfully submit this concern as a citizen of the great state of North Carolina.

So far, as of this writing, I have had an acknowledgement of receipt of the e-mailed letter only by the Governor’s office. It is entirely possible, and indeed, probable, that I will only hear about this from my Representative and my Senator the next time we meet. As we all three live in the same very small county it happens.

I mentioned in the letter that nearly half the states had taken, or were expecting to take, some sort of action soon on State Sovereignty. Later, I stumbled across a site that said some 31 states are committed to, or claiming to be, involved (to some degree) in the State Sovereignty Movement. If true, that is heartening.

There is no doubt the states have been relegated to second-class citizenship in the US. That is just WRONG!

I took a look in my crystal ball and, for the life of me, I could see no indication of the effect the sovereignty movement will have on future relations between the states and their “agent”… the federal government. Only time will tell.

However, I must tell you, it does this old southern boy’s heart good to see “State’s Rights” again brought to the fore in the United States.

As with all Americans we “Southerners” get a lot of things wrong. But we have been right on the issue of “State’s Rights” all along. See, southerners had a bit more than just a signature invested in the creation of the Constitution, itself. There was never any doubt, in our minds, about who “the greater” and who “the lesser” was/is in this association of states and federal government. I must tell you, I am more than a little pleased to find the names of several northern and western states, and even northeastern states, included in the list of the names of the states involved in the State Sovereignty Movement.

Washington would do well to take notice, serious notice, of this movement. The Congress and the President may have forgotten, but it is “the boss” filing this complaint. It is very easy to sit in Washington and spend North Carolina’s money, or the money of the folks from Texas or Oklahoma. But, believe me when I tell you that we have been paying attention and we do not like having our state’s treasuries looted by a heavy-handed federal government.

The current Congress would do well to read up on the “Ordinance of Nullification” passed by my home state of South Carolina in 1828. You can read it for yourself HERE. Suffice it to say State Sovereignty is NOT a NEW issue in this country. It appears we will have to visit it yet again.

The global warming hoax didn’t happen over night. It is generally dated from an appearance before Congress by Dr. James E. Hansen in 1988 predicting a dramatic rise in the Earth’s temperature based on the increase of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. At that time, Dr. Hansen, Director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, warned that steps had to be taken quickly to reduce CO2 emissions.

Ever since then, Hansen has been active in his effort to convince everyone that he’s right and condemning anyone an opposing point of view. “The science is settled” has been the mantra of men like Hansen and, of course, the bilious Albert Gore of “An Inconvenient Truth” fame.

The background music has been supplied by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that has merrily falsified alleged scientific data to advance the hoax while the UN Kyoto Protocol imposed limits on CO2 emissions. Most of the nations that signed it have largely ignored it, discovering that it harms their economies. The U.S. avoided signing, but Americans have elected a President who is utterly devoted to this “solution” to a problem that does not exist.

In “Climate of Extremes: Global Warming Science They Don’t Want You to Know”, co-authors, Patrick J. Michaels and Robert C. Balling, Jr., the former a professor of environmental sciences at the University of Virginia and the latter a professor of the climatology program in the School of Geographical Sciences at Arizona State University, lay out just how the actual science has been deliberately distorted and politicized.

Two factors have been at work. One is money. Much of the funding for climate research comes from the U.S. government. To get that funding, the science has to fit the political agenda of whatever administration was in power. The second factor is media coverage of the issue. Journalism thrives on bad news and, after gleefully reporting a coming ice age in the 1970s they embraced an apocalyptic global warming and the vocal environmental movement in the 1980s.

Despite the fact that the Earth, based on weather satellite data, is now ten years into a distinct cooling cycle, the mainstream media continues to embrace global warming as real along with the cries to end the use of coal for the generation of electricity. Coal, one of the most abundant and inexpensive sources of energy in America, accounts for just over fifty percent of all the electricity Americans use daily.

“Climate of Extremes” points out that “As virtually all global warming science is a publicly funded enterprise, political dynamics must in part be involved. At the simplest level, global warming is just one of many scientific issues competing for funding. AIDS and cancer, for example, are competitors.”

There is an additional factor that cannot be ignored. “The reward structure in academia—promotion, tenure, and salary—is based on the quality and quantity of peer-reviewed research. The requisite level and number of publications for tenure is virtually impossible to achieve without substantial public funding.”

In short, environmental extremism was very good for the careers of those who kept attributing everything from allegedly endangered polar bears to the shrinking snow cover on Mount Kilimanjaro to global warming while warning against it.

While Al Gore grew rich and famous working the global warming hoax, it seemed like everyone, including prestigious organizations like the American Association for the Advancement of Science wanted to get in on the act. On June 15, 2004 they put together a panel of U.S. climate scientists to discuss global warming, but the panel was totally composed of its advocates and no dissenters. By that time, however, a Gallup poll revealed that a plurality of Americans had concluded that the news reports were exaggerations.

By then, even prestigious journals such as “Science” and “Nature” had totally disgraced themselves by publishing allegedly peer-reviewed articles about global warming. National Geographic continues to publish comparable nonsense.

Thanks to the ardent efforts of countless environmental organizations, global warming had been totally integrated into the thinking of those inside the Beltway so that millions of taxpayer dollars, then and now as part of the stimulus package have been spent to prove what the actual science demonstrates is bogus.

Indeed, on March 8-10, the second annual International Conference on Climate Change will take place in New York, bringing together several hundred climatologists, meteorologists, economists, and others to further dismember the hoax.

Meanwhile, the true cost of the global warming hoax lives on in idiotic government mandates for blending ethanol with gasoline or demands for “alternative energy” (wind and solar) unsuited to providing anywhere near the billions of megawatts the U.S. requires to function. If a “cap and trade” proposal regarding greenhouse gas emissions passes Congress, an invisible, baseless tax on energy will be imposed on all Americans.

We have all been lied to by a shameless confederation of scientists, their professional publications, their formal organizations, and politicians seeking to use this big scare to advance their careers and agendas. The problem for all of them is that the real science does not support global warming and never did.

Real scientists, branded dissenters, skeptics, and deniers, held true to the principles of science, knowing that it would eventually end this vast and terrible hoax.

About those tax breaks Obama promises. You might want to prepare, in advance, for your income tax filings the next year because, as I understand it, that tiny increase in your “take home pay”, as a result, will be treated as income the next year and you WILL have to pay taxes on it. In other words… you’ll have to give the money back.

When I heard this explained, I roared in laughter! I actually laughed until my eyes teared up! Every few minutes, when it would came to mind again, I’d break out laughing again. It never fails to amaze and amuse me at how utterly gullible, and even stupid, the American people can be.

Obama is running a shell game on the country and people are actually trying to guess under which walnut shell the pea is located. It never occurred to anyone there was never a pea on the table to begin with. But the rules of the game say you let the suckers win the first round… (The tax break from The Benevolent One…Obama) and then you take it back… and a hell of a lot more… as the suckers try to guess the location of the pea, which isn’t even on the table any more.

I know, I know. You’re ticked off at me, already. (Those of you who have read this far.) I understand. Really, I do! Nobody likes to have his or her stupidity held up for the world to see. I understand that. I’d be embarrassed too, had the messiah taken me in as he did so many of you.

I don’t count myself any “brighter” than the average guy. What I have is experience. I’ve been around for a long time now and I have been interested in politics since the 2nd World War. I have watched national politics, and politicians, and I have observed the games they play and the way they manipulate people. I must tell you Obama is a past master at manipulation. The guy is, as my mother would say: “full of himself.” The guy has an ongoing love affair with himself. He understands the sole reason for your existence, and mine, is to serve him. Plus… he is quite pleased with that arrangement.

During the campaign, someone mentioned that it was interesting to watch Obama’s eyes as Obama watched the crowds watching HIM! He feeds on it. As a gas explosion sucks all the oxygen from a room, Obama will suck all the energy out of a room. He is one of the most frightening men I have ever seen in my long lifetime.

So what’s next? A lot!

I know the folks down in south Texas are not going to want to hear this but as soon as is practicable, the Amnesty Bill will be back… and this time it will pass. Obama and the democrat/socialists want the votes. And they will get them.
Of course, if the worldwide recession brings on the full collapse of the Mexican government, as some experts are forecasting, hordes of illegal aliens from Mexico will flood north across the border into the US pushing us to the brink of disaster. Then comes chaos and anarchy. (And the new US Attorney General wants to relieve Americans of those “Scary-Looking" Assault Weapons!)

The Obama Administration has only just begun. Look at what is on the agenda:

The Amnesty Bill (It won’t be called that but that will be what it is.)
Gun Control (This will induce some sort of Ammo Tax and Ammo Tracking program to learn who buys ammo and what kind, etc.)
Universal Healthcare (including lowering reimbursements for Medicare and Medicaid)
The “New” Fairness Doctrine (It won’t be called that… but that is what it will be.)
Massive Tax increases (They say on the wealthy…but, hey, “you know what” rolls downhill… and so do tax increases!)
Another Vietnam (in Afghanistan. Look for a military draft proposal to begin circulating in the not to distant future)
Cap and Trade (This is the CO2 reducing program. Even though CO2 is absolutely necessary for life on this planet, it is now deemed a pollutant! How bright is that, huh?)
End Global Warming (The globe isn’t warming. At least Obama has an easy one here. Ending something that doesn’t exist is imminently easy!)

Well, you get the picture… right? We can only hope!

Someone, somewhere, the other day, referred to Obama’s style of governing as “Command and Control Government.” That pegged it, exactly. Of course, the SOCIALISTS have been doing this for almost a hundred years now. They call it “Central Planning.” Same thing!

When all this gets to the Senate and the House I hope they understand that if they pass all these hits on “Big Business”… you know, the companies that own all those industries in America… all those industries that provide ALL THOSE JOBS FOR AMERICANS… Yeah! THOSE COMPANIES…that those industries will pick up and leave the US.

Look, if I was the CEO of one of the top corporations in America today, I would have teams out scouting the globe looking for suitable places to move my company… lock, stock and barrel. There are countries on this planet drooling at the prospect of getting those jobs and that money injected into their economies and they will bend over backwards to make big business and big industry feel right at home. In fact, if those countries are smart they will have teams of their own scouting the world of big business, in the US, making it known that they would happily welcome the relocation of a business to their climes and they stand ready to reciprocate with what ever concessions that company requires or wishes.

On the other hand, us poor slobs left to pay the taxes, so the government will have the money to pay for Obama’s schemes, are going to get the brunt of the hurt. Joblessness. When the companies leave… so do the jobs. No jobs means no salaries. No salaries means no money to pay taxes. No money to pay taxes means the government will have to make some more money. I mean… they will have to print more money. With each new dollar bill printed the value of the dollars in your wallet goes down. We call that inflation. Your money will be virtually worthless. So, what little money you may have will buy practically nothing.

What is the REAL VALUE of a US one dollar Federal Reserve Note today? Compare it against the “silver spot price.” Some estimates put the real value of a one-dollar note at between five cents and seven cents.

OK, OK. So they tell us the dollar is really ONLY a unit of measurement. (Like an inch, or a pound, or a gallon, or a mile.) I understand that. But, in the real world the value of the dollar is decided when you exchange your dollars for goods and services. I am afraid, in the not too distant future; the goods and services your dollars will purchase will decrease drastically.

Do you see the vicious cycle here? That is where we are headed. But, never fear, the government WILL tax whatever money you manage to make through your labor.

One morning Americans will awake to realize that the government is taking between 80 and 90 percent of the money they make every payroll cycle! When that happens, dear heart, don’t whine, and don’t complain, and don’t moan. Americans asked for it… and Americans brought it on themselves. Americans will be treated like a child with an allowance because that is what Americans said they wanted when they voted for Obama and the democrats/socialists in Congress. When you hire the fiddler, you have to pay the fiddler. Payment time is almost here.

Americans said they wanted the government to take care of them and the government is more than happy to comply. They will suckle you from the cradle to the grave. That is another reason we conservatives call it a “Nanny State.”

The left in America is finally going to realize their dream of a European style socialist state in America. But so many American are “history challenged” they don’t realize that European style socialism has been allowed to exist only because the United States was a capitalist society providing the money and a HUGE market, and, most importantly, the military power for European security. The US became the police force of the world keeping not only The States safe for democracy, but also keeping Europe safe for socialism! Even Canada, our next door neighbor, came to be known as the “kinder, gentler, nation” simply because the United States was their southern neighbor, their “Big Brother”, with all the muscle, and Canada knew the US would never allow anything to happen to them.

Well, that is about to end. When it does, and it will be very soon now, which country will provide the security for the Europeans states? Scarier still, which country will provide security for the United States? If I had my druthers, I’d immediately make a deal with Israel to provide the military security for the United States! Maybe we could get a package deal and lease the IDF and the Mossad from Israel? Do you think?

The bottom line is… I’d rather be broke and free than be rich and a slave! The “Obamanation” will not be a free nation. We are losing our freedom, bit by bit, by bit every day under this Obama administration.

Some of you got your backs bowed at the freedom(s) you lost under The Patriot Act. So did I. So, allow me to inquire: Why haven’t the democrats/socialists in Congress, and our socialist President, revoked, or repealed, the Patriot Act? They have the power. They have the control. For all intents and purposes, they OWN the law making machinery. They don’t need a single republican or conservative vote to get rid of the Patriot Act. But I see no action, not even a whisper about the possibility of repealing the Patriot Act. None! Why? They haven’t, and they won’t, because the Patriot Act can be very helpful, very useful, to the democrats/socialists in power in the US today.

No, dear reader, we’re not JUST writing of the loss of money in all those government bailouts and loans and nationalizations hitting us on an almost weekly basis. No. Read the fine print. You will see the freedom we Americans are losing already tops the three trillion dollar budget Obama sent to the Congress a few days ago.

We Americans owe an apology to all the men and women who, over the years, have given their very lives, who actually fought, bled, and died to secure and to preserve those freedoms for us. We have insulted them. It is the greatest of all insults. It is to say their sacrifice had no meaning. Their lives had no value and their deaths had even less meaning. From Valley Forge to Baghdad they shed their blood to protect and preserve America’s freedom. Now we tell them, and their descendants, it was all in vain.

Free Americans have spoken. They have chosen this pathetic end to the glorious dream that was America.

What we are writing about here is... the "U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child". This horrific UN treaty has been around for a good 20 years now and 193 countries have signed on to it. Only two countries have not signed it. The US and Somalia! (Go figure!)

The Clinton Administration signed it but it was never sent to the Senate for ratification. It was understood, at the time, that it had a snowball’s chance of being ratified by a Senate with a teaspoon full of common sense. But common sense is something in extremely short supply in the Senate, and the House, for that matter, these day. It is almost certain to be ratified if brought up before the socialist Senate we have today. And... guess what? California democrat (What else), Barbara Boxer, is pushing to have it brought up in the Senate for consideration. More than likely she will have her way.

The bottom line is… the treaty would, first and foremost, strip mothers and fathers of their parental rights! And it would strip the US of its sovereignty and reclassify this country as a vassal state of the United Nations which, of course, means our constitution would be totally useless as we would be ruled by the UN… not by our own laws.

Experts who have studied the document say: “…the treaty, which creates "the right of the child to freedom of thought, conscience and religion" and outlaws the "arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy," intrudes on the family and strips parents of the power to raise their children without government interference.

Why is this treaty so dangerous to the sovereignty of the United States? A few days ago I wrote of the “Supremacy Clause” in our Constitution. I inferred that it was a dangerous few words. Well here is WHY it is dangerous: Because of the Supremacy Clause, in Article VI of the Constitution, all treaties are rendered "the supreme law of the land," superseding preexisting state and federal statutes. Any rights or laws established by the U.N. convention could then be argued to hold sway in the United States.

So who will say how you can rear and how you can teach your kids? A committee appointed by the UN and sitting in Switzerland, will make the parental decisions for you, for the parents of children in all countries signatory to the treaty. That’s who!

Some even go so far as to suggest that the government will decide how you punish your kids for, oh, say, smoking dope, or… even if you CAN punish your child. The government will decide, if you can make you kids go to church, or not allow them to go to the prom, etc. Parents will no longer be able, legally, to make those decisions. The government will do it.

Ask Steven Groves, a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, what he thinks. He will tell you: “To the extent that an outside body, a group of unaccountable so-called experts in Switzerland have a say over how children in America should be raised, educated and disciplined -- that is an erosion of American sovereignty." He is absolutely correct.

None of this matters as Senator Boxer has made it clear she intends to push, energetically, to get the treaty ratified by the US Senate. There is reason to believe the Obama administration will side with Boxer on this and push it through the Senate to ratification.

There is simply no point going forward without acknowledging a simple truth. President Barack Obama is a shameless liar.

One always feels constrained to pass judgment on a President, assuming that he has access to information only his office can possess. Then there’s the long campaign in which, in theory, the candidate was thoroughly vetted by the mainstream media.

In truth the MSM made almost no attempt to investigate the rather thin resume and biography of Obama. If you think about it, he had already written two biographies by the time he ran for office. One assumes he thought himself the only subject worth writing about.

The media, with a few notable exceptions, became a group of swooning teenage girls. They made those of us who had been fulltime journalists cringe.

Several books were published about Obama during the campaign and one of the best was by Dr. Jerome Corsi, a political scientist, and the data he unearthed or was unable to unearth depicts a pathologically deceitful man. The world has yet to have seen Obama’s real birth certificate, nor any evidence of his school and college records. There is no paper trail for Obama and you can be sure that is no accident.

Even when he served as editor of the Harvard Law Review, Obama contributed just one article to it, but where he secured the funds to attend, first Columbia University and then Harvard remains a mystery too. There is some testimony to the effect that it came from Saudi patronage. Why the Saudis would give support to a professing Christian is another mystery, if in fact the story is true.

Obama is a mean-spirited liar. When he announced the withdrawal of troops from Iraq he never once used the word “victory” even though he was addressing an audience of military personnel. Iraq is unquestionably a victory for our military. It is now a functioning democracy.

Moreover, 50,000 troops will remain in what is called a training or “protective” capacity. That is far less than the 140,000 we had at one time, but it’s hard to call it a full withdrawal. Not once! Not once did Obama make any reference to former President Bush’s achievement.

And some troops, perhaps 14,000, will transfer to Afghanistan. Obama is going to discover that Afghanistan will become his war. Those of us who think it is a very bad war, far worse than the Iraq expedition, will be as vocal as he was about “Bush’s war.”

Bush conquered a relatively modern nation, but Afghanistan is the wild lands ruled by tribes. Right beside it is Pakistan, coming apart as this is written, the prey of the Taliban who want to turn this nuclear-armed nation into a 7th century redoubt from which to wage war. Afghanistan is essentially a counterinsurgency operation and they take years to achieve any success and, as often as not, fail. Ask the Russians.

All those billions and trillions being conjured up by the financial wizards that Obama has surrounded himself with are completely disconnected to his claims of millions of new jobs, a quick turnaround of the economy, or any other of his many lies to justify the borrowing, taxing and spending that will leave this nation far worse off than any deficit he faced when taking over the office.

It is for this reason that the Dow plunges every time he speaks in public about the economy. As he begins his third month in office, more and more ordinary, common sense people are beginning to distrust him as much as I have for a very long time.

He is no friend to the working man whose increasing unemployment can be traced in part to his performance in office and the policies he has announced.

He is no friend to Israel, our most important ally in the Middle East.
