Bitter as Gall

Bitter as Gall
By: J. D. Longstreet
**********************

You know, one of the things that troubles me most, these days, is the overt bitterness of the liberals/progressives/socialists among us. It runs like a sour note through a symphony. It spills over in conversations one tries to have with a liberal/socialist. It runs through their writings, too.

If you have visited any liberal websites, you must be struck, as I have been, with the bitterness there. Without doubt the most profane, sour, wrathful, speech I have ever heard/read comes from liberal/socialist websites or from comments liberal/socialist leave on the websites of conservatives.

What’s that about? Has the communication skills of Americans degenerated to the point that we cannot have a single civil conversation in which we disagree without become profane and heaping scornful, demeaning, language on the opposition?

Now, don’t get me wrong. I can toss about the Anglo-Saxon with the best of them, but you may have noticed we make a conscious effort here to not do it at all, on this site, or hold it to an absolute minimum.

When I began this piece I though maybe it was just “me”, my sensitivity to profanity. Thirty years on the airwaves, as a broadcaster, with the FCC watching your every move and you DO become extremely conscious of what you say. You must… or face humongous fines from the government. So, I thought it was just “me”. Then, I decided to investigate a little. A few clicks and I learn that it isn’t just me. It is true.

Matthew Sheffield over at the Washington Times has a piece on profanity on the blogs. You’ll find it interesting. It’s at:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/aug/07/profanity-greater-on-liberal-blogs/

Some seem to think that the Left side of the political spectrum in America is filled with anger and rage and, yes, bitterness at the world not going the way they want it to go… and it has them frustrated and feeling impotent. Apparently, the left cannot accept that the majority of Americans are conservative, to one degree or another. Non-acceptance of this fact doesn’t change the fact, therefore… their frustration. Facts are strange that way.

I have noticed, over my year, that it is almost always the weak among us who resort to profanity to attempt to lend weight to their argument. It never works, and the fact that it doesn’t work only weakens the user’s argument further and often causes them to emote even more bitterness, which, often turns quickly into personal attacks upon the opposition. The liberal has yet to grasp that the intelligent argument will win every time.

In Sheffield’s article, mentioned above, it is pointed out that Liberals are 12 times more likely to use profanity in their blogs than are conservatives. Sheffield posits that it may be a reflection of the religiosity of conservatives over liberals. Since conservatives are more religious they tend to use less profanity in their daily lives and that, naturally, carries over into their writings on the web.

That may be true. And if it is, it tells me something I have suspected for a very long time. Liberals are a very unhappy lot. Isolation from God does that to the human animal. It sours our soul. It causes us to look inward for strength that isn’t there and we find instead, aloneness, fear, and impotence which turns to frustration, anger and bitterness at the world around us.

It would appear, then, that liberals fear lack of control. But, what really sets them apart is that when they have control that fear is still with them. When they gain control their happiness is fleeting for they soon fear losing that control and their anger is re-born of that fear and, this, I have concluded, explains their frustration. It is a frustration born of never feeling secure no matter their circumstances. Their existence is a never-ending cycle of hypersensitivity and one emotional crisis after another.

Study after study has been made over the past four decades as to why liberals are so unhappy. In his book “Gross National Happiness” Mr. Arthur Brooks puts forth his idea that conservatives seem to feel that working hard and playing by the rules will bring success. Therefore conservatives are more optimistic, feel more in control of their lives and, as a result, are happier than liberals. I think he is on to something.

The left side of the political spectrum, especially in America, is now the home of liberals and is a very unhappy place. Liberals have managed to coalesce groups of victims (real and perceived), of all sorts of social and economic unfairness beneath the banner of the Democratic Party. It is our opinion that the gullibility of the liberal mind has allowed leaders, of both sexes, to take advantage of their unhappy, angry, emotional, state to re-enforce those feelings and secure their own positions of power within the leftist movement.

There is a very old expression: “misery loves company”… and you know the other one about “birds of a feather”, etc, etc. That’s what I see when I survey the Democratic Party. They are, quite likely, the most miserable people in America. And it is sad, really. We live in the greatest country on the globe where opportunities abound for the optimistic individual willing to take the risk necessary for success. The liberal left is missing out on so much.

America Will Adopt Socialism… and Die.

America Will Adopt Socialism… and Die.
By: J. D. Longstreet
****************************

Apparently, the people of the US have decided that socialism, rather than capitalism, is the way to go. The fact that it spells doom for what used to be the greatest nation on earth doesn't seem to worry anyone except a few of us old "give me liberty or give me death" types... and there's only a handful of us left.

I'm against the bailout. If you are a regular reader of this scribe, you already deduced that, I’m sure. I understand the letters and e-mails to Congress are running 100 to one against the bailout... but the old hippies, socialists, and reprobates populating that body, and, yes, in charge of that body, these days haven't the slightest interest in the people of the US... nor what we want. They are involved in a power play to see who can secure the most power for their party... and the American people be damned. I am ashamed of what my country has become and is becoming.

This old conservative finds himself wishing it were possible for the US to go isolationist again. We can't, of course. It didn't work the last time we tried it. I am so tired of us spending our blood and treasure saving the collective behinds of the rest of the world. This week Shimon Peres, of Israel, said (at the UN) that the US had a duty to save the rest of the world from Iran. You can read for yourself what Peres said in an article titled: “Peres: U.S. has no choice but to save world from Ahmadinejad” at:

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1024426.html

Yes, had I the power, I would have ALREADY nuked Iran with tactical nukes …small ones designed to destroy "hardened" bunkers such as those within which they house their nuclear facilities. Why? I would do it because they have threatened the US. But, understand this: I take strong exception to "the rest of the world" passing the buck and expecting us to get our young people killed and our money spent to save their sons and daughters, to save their fortunes and national treasuries, and to save their countries, while they sit back, and bitch, and moan, point accusing fingers and complain about everything we do! I am of the opinion we ought to cut them off and adopt a position that the rest of the world is on it's own. They can fight their own wars and handle their own problems from starvation, to war, to Armageddon.

Even our neighbor to the South constantly complains because we don’t just throw open the doors to our treasury and feed, clothe, educate, and give medical care to THEIR citizens (who have illegally “broken into” our country) even more than we have to date. We should immediately invade and annex Mexico. I'm tired of supporting that pitifully mismanaged country. There is a growing feeling among conservative Americans that if we are going to support Mexico, then we ought to own Mexico.

Like so many of us true conservatives, today, I am tired, and aggravated, and just generally PO’ed at the way things are being screwed-up in Washington by BOTH sides. In my opinion, this is the sorriest government we have had in my lifetime and we have had some sorry ones, too.

Look, the US is every bit as divided as it was in 1859. In some ways we are MORE divided. I have spent a great deal of time studying that period of US history, and I can tell you… we are in every bit as scary a time as our American ancestors were just prior to the last American Civil War. Unfortunately, our semi-illiterate population, having never been taught the history of this nation, has no clue what is happening to us. Those of us who have studied our history KNOW what is happening and it is way beyond frightening.

The US is split right down the middle. We, in effect, already have two countries within the borders of a single nation... right now. I'm not referring to a north/south split, either. I talk to people, daily, from all over the country, liberals and conservatives, and I can tell you… we are in deep, deep, trouble as a nation. There is no more common ground. There is no "meeting place" where we can sit down and iron out our differences. Don’t believe me? Look at Congress today. That leaves one thing, and one thing only, as the eventual outcome.

Our entire political apparatus in the US has shifted to the left. The Republican Party has become the Democratic Party of just a few years ago while the Democratic Party has become the New Socialist Party in America. They have been hiding their leftward shift behind the nomenclature of “Progressive” while taking on the socialist philosophy. Now, they feel comfortable in dropping their façade so we can all see them for who they are. But there is no outcry from the American people. There is no outrage at the con game the democrats have been running on the American people. No. Instead, the American people have given them control of the legislative branch of the US government and stand ready to give them a socialist President in November. We urge you to drop in on the Democrat Socialist Party of America’s website and stay there a while… and when you come away, you will have a new understanding of the Democrat Party in America.

I’m a veteran of the US military. When I was sworn in I took an oath, as did all service personnel, and as did the President, and Senators, and Congresspersons, to protect and defend the Constitution of the US from ALL enemies… foreign and DOMESTIC! At the time I took that oath (in the 1950’s) I had no idea the domestic enemies of the US would have infiltrated the halls of Congress as they have. What is really galling, however, is the fact that the American people put them there by voting for them at the polling booth. I know I shouldn’t be surprised. The German people voted the Nationalist Socialist, by the name of Adolf Hitler, into office, as well.

This is a dangerous, dangerous, time in, and for, America. We are at the “tipping point” at which Americans will decide if they wish to remain free or adopt a socialist form of government and give up their freedom(s).

I have lost faith in my fellow countrymen. I now believe Americans will give up their freedom and adopt socialism. Why? Because for slothful, illiterate Americans… slavery, dear reader, is much easier than freedom. In slavery you don’t have to make tough decisions, you are not held accountable, all you have to do is follow orders. If you do that… your basic, very basic, needs will be met… food, clothing, shelter, medical care, etc. All you lose is FREEDOM! And socialism is what the Democrat Party is selling! Worse… Americans are clamoring for it like toddlers with their arms outstretched to their parents begging them: “Pick me up, Mommy! Pick me up, Mommy!”

Socialized medicine is just another step down that path to national destruction for America. Socialism has always ruined even the greatest empires, that adopted it… in any form. Look at the Soviet Union. Better yet, look at the mighty Roman Empire. Remember “Bread and Circuses”? Rome’s attempts to keep the citizens happy and distracted with food and entertainment brought the entire empire crashing down over time. Today we can look at Europe, which was set free only to turn on their liberators and adopt socialism and today exist in their own little world made free and kept free by the efforts of the American people whom they despise because they owe us and they know it and it drives them nuts! They are angry at America because of their self-imposed shame as a result of their dependence on America for their very survival.

At the risk of being condescending, only the less intelligent among us are begging for socialized medicine and all the other socialized programs the democrats are offering. Those of us, who weigh the damages socialism will do to America, and understand that it is suicide to go there, are holding out… but we are fighting a losing battle. I am now convinced that ignorance will triumph in the election in November and that victory will consume the United States of America on a blazing pyre of national decay and, finally, national death.

I see a conflagration coming in America. It is a conflagration America will not survive.

His Finger on Armageddon ...by: J. D. Longstreet

His Finger on Armageddon
BY; J. D. Longstreet
**********************

On the off chance that you have not noticed… there is a religious fanatic in charge of Iran. The even more troubling problem is… he has his finger on the button, which could trigger Armageddon.

I speak, of course, of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran. I should say the “Islamic Republic” of Iran.

I find myself in the group believing Iran will have a deliverable A-Bomb much sooner than our Intelligence community has told us. I think it wise to assume that in a matter of months, Iran will have nuclear weapons. Iran already has the delivery vehicles for those Nukes. Ahmadinejad has told us the target… Israel. In a few, blinding seconds, the state of Israel will cease to exist.

Ahmadinejad apparently believes it is his duty in life to prepare the way for the 12th Imam. To understand how Ahmadinejad’s belief can be fatal for Israel, it is necessary to understand, at least a little, about what he believes. Then it will become clear.

Well, in Christianity we have the return of Christ, often referred to as the “Second Coming of Christ”. In Shi’ite Islam they have the return of the 12th Imam. Ahmadinejad has said, openly, the 12th Imam will return within two years.

As with the Second Coming of Christ the event (Return of the 12th Imam) will be associated with a number of tribulations and lots of turmoil including great death… and great destruction.
In an article over at The Telegraph.Co.Uk titled: “Will the 12th Imam cause war with Iran”? Con Coughlin says the following:

"For those unacquainted with the more obscure tenets of Islamic theology, the 12th Imam is held by devout Shi'ite Muslims to be a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed who went into "occlusion" in the ninth century at the age of five and hasn't been seen since.

The Hidden Imam, as he is also known by his followers, will only return after a period of cosmic chaos, war and bloodshed – what Christians call the Apocalypse – and then lead the world into an era of universal peace.

Rumours abound of Mr Ahmadinejad's devotion to the 12th Imam, and last year it was reported that he had persuaded his cabinet to sign a "contract" pledging themselves to work for his return.

Another example of his messianic tendencies surfaced after 108 people were killed in an aircraft crash in Teheran. Mr Ahmadinejad praised the victims, saying: "What is important is that they have shown the way to martyrdom which we must follow."

We urge you to read the entire article at:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2007/09/28/do2804.xml

Why is this suddenly so troubling? Well, frankly, with the Islamic belief in Martyrdom so prevalent, and the associated eternal bliss expected, as a result, the religious nut, in Iran, with his finger on the button, becomes a very real threat.

Besides the above, a time of political chaos will set the stage for the 12th Imam’s, or Madhi’s, return. At least, the Shi’ite Moslems believe that it will.

Remember, Ahmadinejad is the man who stated, publicly, “Israel should be wiped from the map”. This is the man who has made huge donations (in the millions of dollars) to a shrine, which is said to contain the well from which the 12th Imam is to re-emerge into the world.

It is also believed the “Mahdi” will have a deputy, something of a forerunner (remember John the Baptist), who will prepare the world for the “Mahdi’s” return. Suppose someone thought himself to be that deputy and desired to bring about the chaos needed for the Mahdi’s return and… suppose, further, the self-described deputy had nuclear weapons to assist him in his quest for chaos.

Granted, there is a whole lot of supposing going on here, but… what if???

Would it not behoove those expecting to be on the receiving end of those missiles to intercede on the side of sanity and remove Mr. Ahmadinejad’s means of inflicting his end goal of chaos and the return of the Mahdi?

One of the few things we have learned, from watching these Middle Eastern hotheads, is that when they threaten something dire, they, almost, always deliver.

You can bet that if this old, gentile, Southern American boy is considering all this… then the Israelis are WAY ahead of me.

Here is a question to think about: Does anyone believe if the Iranians were to pull off a successful nuclear attack on Israel they would stop there… or would they continue their march of conquest to Europe? Huh?

Social Justice or a Bad Idea? ... by Alan Caruba

Social Justice or a Bad Idea?

By Alan Caruba

*****************
I have a close family member who is as liberal as I am conservative. We talk every day and, mostly, we avoid discussing politics. Most of us have family members whose politics differ from our own and most of us are wise enough to avoid such discussions.

Since my family member has spent is life dealing with Wall Street and advising people of great wealth how to protect and enhance it, one would think that the conservatism he brings to that goal would extend into his broader vision of the nation and the world, but it does not.

Indeed, Wall Street is a hotbed of liberals. Many of those who migrated to politics from Wall Street brought their desire to improve the lives of those less fortunate with them, but unfortunately, this is precisely what has led the nation to the present crisis.

The crisis of the Great Depression led to the politics of the 1930s and 40s, and demands for government intervention to ease the terrible burdens of a broken economy. The result were programs designed to alleviate the then-immediate crisis, restore trust in the banking system, provide make-work projects, and create Social Security to protect people against a penniless old age.

The driving political motivation was to introduce “social justice” into a society where many people had been impoverished through no fault of their own. Leading up to that earlier crisis was extensive speculative investment, often by people who could ill afford to do it.

If this scenario sounds familiar, all you have to do is consider a system put in place that permitted people who could ill afford to do it, to get mortgage loans and then required mortgage lenders and banks to make these loans.

The banks and mortgage companies were told that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government agencies masquerading as private entities, would back them up in the event of defaults on those loans. They bought what was essentially worthless paper based on the concept of “social justice.” Investment firms “bundled” that paper and sold it as a form of securities.

The current crisis is rooted in the “solutions” to the Great Depression. A reading of history reveals that it was World War II that employed a lot of people in the struggle to overthrow authoritarian dictatorships. Many unemployed men volunteered or were conscripted into the military. Opportunities for women to work opened up in the nation’s factories that thrived in the effort to provide munitions and the many products necessary to achieve victory. In a very real sense, though the threat was real, it was WWII that restored the nation’s economy. When men returned from that victory, a grateful government provided the means by which they could attend college, learn new skills, and swiftly begin to contribute to a growing economy. Other men replaced women on the assembly lines.

In a new century the United States is attempting to function with ideas and institutions left over from the last major, economic, and military crisis. A lot has changed since then, but the concept of “social justice” has not. It has been the justification for the insane expansion of the federal government into every aspect of life in America.

While no one would argue that there is not a need for regulation. It is equally true that the banking and investment community is possibly the single, most regulated element of the nation’s economy. What failed was the judgment of those imposing “social justice” ideas from the 1930s and 40s on a $13 trillion economy embarking on a new century in a global marketplace.

Old ideas. Bad ideas.

Telling Detroit to build cars based on a false “global warming” belief that carbon dioxide emissions are a threat to the environment is a bad idea.

Influencing what farmers choose to plant based on the three-decade-old failed and false belief that ethanol can or should replace gasoline is a bad idea.

Imposing a one-size-fits-all straight jacket on the states’ educational systems is a bad idea.

Adding billions of new entitlements to already shaky Social Security and Medicare programs is a bad idea.

Refusing to allow the exploration and extraction of the nation’s vast reserves of oil, natural gas, and coal, is a bad idea.

Giving the Secretary of the Treasury a blank check to purchase billions in worthless loans will no doubt stem the panic regarding the stability of the nation’s banking system, but doing so without congressional oversight is a bad idea.

Adding to that blank check by including student loans and a host of other credit obligations is a bad idea.

At some point you run the risk of literally bankrupting the nation and that is a very bad idea.

Are You Scared yet?

Are You Scared Yet?
By: J. D. Longstreet
*********************

If you are a regular reader of this scribe then you have probably noticed that I have, at least up to now, said nothing about the financial meltdown the US mortgage system finds itself in these days. There is a very good reason for that. Like the average American… I know very little about the financial markets!

I never handled my own money. There are, at least, two good reasons for that. I refer you back to the last line of the paragraph above… and add to that the fact that my wife is a retired veteran of 30 some odd years in the banking business and she is a whiz at finances and bookkeeping… and… that’s why I stay away from issues pertaining to money… especially my own. That probably explains why I still have some!

However, I, like so many other Americans, am anxiously watching my savings as this financial crisis drags on so I have a deep interest in what is going on and what needs to be done to fix it and to keep it from happening again.

I don’t trust many people to talk to me about money matters. There is, however, one man who has my undivided attention when he talks money and that is… professor Walter E. Williams. For those of you who have never heard of Dr. Williams… Dr. Williams serves on the faculty of George Mason University as John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics and is the author of the book: ”More Liberty Means Less Government: Our Founders Knew This Well”.

Professor Williams began a recent article by quoting H.L. Mencken: "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety, by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." Dr. Williams then goes on to explain why politicians tend to continually scare the hell out of us so that we look to them to save us. The good doctor is correct. This government scare tactic also serves to solidify the national governor’s own job security while increasing their power over us, the governed, at the same time.

In any event, that is the general thrust of his article, which I’d like to recommend to you. It is titled: “Scaring Us to Death” and you will find it at:

http://townhall.com/columnists/WalterEWilliams/2008/09/24/scaring_us_to_death

I have to tell you, I have been looking askance at this whole financial market mess and the way the Congress is seemingly dragging its feet in pursuit of a solution. I can’t help but wonder if 700 billion dollars is the answer… or just the beginning of a long treasury draining and taxpayer draining process that will wind up taking the US much farther down the one-way road to socialism. I cannot help myself; I have even asked myself if this is the famed “October Surprise” we are always warned about along about this point in every Presidential election in America.

Ok, so my paranoia is sticking its ugly head up again. But, as a friend of mine used to say: “When folks are out to get you… paranoia is just damned good thinking!”… I have to agree.

As I contemplate the goings on in Washington, amongst the ruling class, about how they are going to fix this… it amuses me, to some degree, when I realize that this is another case of the fox guarding the hen house. I mean, the very people who caused this mess are now swearing to us they are going to “fix it”?” You have got to be kidding! Fortunately, “the truth is out there”, as they say, for anyone interested enough to look. I did. And this is what I found:

This whole mess had its birth in 1994 during the Clinton Administration. (Ok, OK! Before you jump all over me about beating up on the Clinton Administration, do a little research of your own, on the Net, and you will quickly learn the same thing I have.) In that year, Clinton signed a bill to promote low-income home ownership for those applicants who did not qualify for fixed rate mortgages. Business Week referred to the bill as “one that argues for creative measures to promote homeownership”. Thus began the mess the US, and, indeed, the world, finds itself in today.

When low-income folks began seeking loans to buy homes…homes they really couldn’t afford in the first place… the financial community came up with something called Adjustable Rate Mortgages (ARM). Those ARM interest rates began low but because those rates are tied to the market they began to rise… and… as they rose… those low-income folks who had bought those homes became unable to pay and the banks, and lending institutions, were forced to foreclose on them… lots and lots and lots of them. The vast number of foreclosures soon began to bleed the investment banks and mortgage institutions literally to death. That is when the bottom fell out and that is what brought us to the edge of this particular financial cliff.

Sher Zieve has an excellent article on this at The Land of the Free.Com titled:
“Democrats Caused Current Financial Crisis “. You’ll find it at:

www.thelandofthefree.net/conservativeopinion/2008/09/21/democrats-caused-current-financial-crisis/

The point is… the government did it! Now, that same government is entrusted with fixing it? Now… you TELL me… should we NOT be anxious???

Think about this for a moment: If you are comfortable with the government suspending capitalism and saddling US citizens with the yoke of socialism then this 700 billion dollar bail-out, or rescue, of the financial markets in the US is just fine with you. Are you comfortable with the government owning your home? Just asking.

Look, this is nationalization of the US financial markets. It is the foundation for socialism in the United States. If we do this… it will mean no more baby steps toward socialism in the US. Nosiree! It means we are now talking giant steps. And, as Walter Williams says… it is scaring some of us to death!

Miss Sarah and the American South

Why I Like Miss Sarah.
By: J. D. Longstreet
*******************

It’s no secret that I favor Ms. Sarah Palin for the next Vice-President of the US. Heck, I have her photo on my website. One look at that photo and you have to marvel at how our coldest state gave us our hottest governor!

I ran across a column… no… let me re-state that… I went looking for the latest column by one of my favorite conservative writers the other day, Jefferson Weaver. Jeff is a Tar Heel, a conservative Tar Heel, and one I admire a great deal. His writings are always a joy to read because I know where he is coming from, not just philosophically, but physically, too. He’s a hunter and fisherman, enjoys the great outdoors, and knows how to enjoy and appreciate the natural wonders of this great state we share as our home, and… Jeff is a God-fearing southern man. Plus, Jeff’s politics, and mine, seem to run parallel to each other most of the time.

His latest column is all about why Jeff likes Sarah Palin. As I mentally wolfed it down the other day, I realized we were on exactly the same beam. We both like Sarah… and for the same reasons. Not that that should come as a surprise to anyone, we are both conservatives… southern conservatives.

We have pointed you to Jeff’s column on a couple of previous occasions and I hope to continue to do so in the future. But just for today, I’d like you to click on over to the address I’m about to give you and read what Jeff has written about why HE likes Sarah Palin. It eloquently sums up the southern conservative’s view of Miss Sarah. Maybe, just maybe, you will be able to understand why her entrance onto the national political stage came as a breath of fresh air to conservatives who, like me, were suffocating in the vacuum created by the l candidates the two major political parties had given us to choose from this time around. We conservatives were sick at heart. And that is putting it mildly.

So, now, I’d like you to go read Jeff’s column. You’ll find it at:

http://www.whiteville.com/pages/2008WEBPAGES/SEPTEMBER2008/9.22.08.mon/jweaver.html

Do you begin to see the depth of feeling for this woman among southern conservatives… both men AND women? She reminds us so much of the 1800’s Southern Belle in a gorgeous hoop skirt carrying a tiny parasol to protect her complexion from the sun, quoting scripture in a slow southern drawl with sugar dripping from every syllable… while having a Navy Colt Revolver strapped to her thigh beneath that lovely gown. Yep! We like our women smart, tough, resilient, resourceful, determined, God-fearing, and, mind you, graciously feminine with drop dead good looks! Miss Sarah fits the mold. (Now, please, if you think women, fitting the description I just gave you, are difficult, if not impossible, to find, then, dear reader, you haven’t lived down South!)
All kidding aside, Miss Sarah will do well here in the American South. I fully expect her, and her running mate, to do very well in November here in North Carolina. Truthfully, I want her to win, because I want to vote for her for President in 2012!

Who Are You Calling Stupid?... by Alan Caruba

Who Are You Calling Stupid?
By Alan Caruba

****************************

If you read as much of the blather turned out by media folk like the New York Times’ Thomas Friedman and others, you begin to see certain themes emerge.

They don’t like humanity much.

One of their great concerns is population growth and, in concert with the use of various sources of energy, all the problems that come from too many people competing for food, water, and that parking space you want.

Their disdain for oil, the primary energy source of transportation, plus the source from which plastic is derived, along a thousand other uses, infuses everything they write. They don’t like natural gas or coal either. These misnamed “fossil fuels” transformed and improved life for everyone over the last century and earlier. The Earth is not running out of any of them.

Lastly, they are desperately clinging to the “global warming” lie despite the fact that most people have concluded it was and is a hoax. Most people are right. The Earth is already into a decade-old cooling cycle.

Thomas Friedman, whom we are constantly reminded won a Pulitzer Prize, thus crowning him among the smartest people on Earth, has a new book out. It is about the Earth and its title is “Hot, Flat, and Crowded.” He’s wrong on at least two of his assertions.

The Earth is crowded. There are more than six billion people. In time, there will be less. That is a fundamental law of demography, why populations grow and decline

The great problem that wordsmiths like Friedman encounter is that they fall in love with their own words, particularly if they lead to great fame and great wealth. After a while, they begin to believe their fanciful notions of how the world works and where it’s headed. Given enough time and rope, and they are frequently found to be astonishingly wrong. In the meantime, however, you can be pretty sure he thinks you’re stupid.

The September 14, Sunday edition of The New York Times was a study in what might be called journalistic cognitive dissonance; on the front page the lead story was “Storm Damage is Extensive and Millions Lose Power.” It requires no genius to figure out that, without electrical power, everything grinds to a stop. More than half of the electrical power in the United States is generated by burning coal. It’s cheap. It’s abundant.

On the September 14 editorial page, Friedman, was explaining why we have to stop using oil as an energy source for transportation and replace coal and nuclear with wind turbines and solar panels to produce electricity. Friedman is convinced that perfectly good ways of producing power are stupid, are doomed, and should be replaced as soon as possible.

The title of Friedman’s column was, “Making America Stupid”, and it is a pretty good description of the entire environmental movement whose main objective often seems to be the thwarting of any new energy, i.e., power, sources in America. Visit any “Green” website and you will find they are spending millions to stop the building of coal-fired plants, filled with dark fears about nuclear power, and advocate nonsense.

It helps, if you are a New York Times editor, to be unable to make the connection between your page one story and the babbling of Thomas Friedman who is inside the same issue calling for “innovating a whole new industry of clean power” for America after the grudging admission that “Of course, we’re going to need oil for many years.” You think????

Friedman’s column lambastes the bad old Republicans for wanting to “focus our country on breathing life into a 19th-century technology—“fossil fuels”—rather than giving birth to a 21st-century technology—renewable energy.”

That fabulous renewable energy, wind and solar power and biofuels, would surely have been embraced by now if it could deliver the power efficiently and reliably. It cannot. The wind does not blow all the time and the sun does not shine all the time.

In Texas, there are lots of wind turbines, but they like all the rest in the nation provide barely one percent of our electricity needs. And they exist only because they are heavily subsidized with federal and state funding. Without government mandates, they would not exist. The same goes for solar power. And ethanol.

This is what happens when government intrudes itself into areas that should be left to intelligent people. During the Carter administration, the Department of Energy was established in 1977 for the purpose—we were told—of reducing our dependence on foreign oil. Thirty-one years later the budget for DOE is $24.2 billion a year. It has 16,000 employees and some 100,000 contract employees. Are we energy independent yet? This is the same Jimmy Carter who had solar panels installed on the roof of the White House. They’re gone now.

Friedman pauses in his criticism of Sen. McCain and the Republican solutions to our energy needs (“Drill, baby, drill!”) to make fun of their proposal for more nuclear plants, but Freidman wants to carpet America with solar panels and ruin the landscape will thousands of wind turbines. No thank you!

Gregg Easterbrook wrote a review of Friedman’s new book for Slate.com. He pointed out a lack of footnotes or source notes. Instead of citing any documentation, Friedman would have you simply accept his opinions as fact.

Easterbrook also took note of something that Friedman has in common with Al Gore; a very large home. Like Gore, he is constantly in flight somewhere around the world on commercial and private jets. While Friedman urges everyone to “lead as environmentally sustainable a life as you can,“ Easterbook notes that he “is lord of a manor and racing through more resources in his daily life than 10,000 rural Africans.”

There’s a reason why we don’t have more coal-fired and nuclear plants generating the electricity we need.

There’s a reason our electric power grid is not being upgraded to meet our future needs.

There’s a reason oil companies won’t spend billions to build new refineries.

There’s a reason food costs more when corn is converted into fuel instead of food.

The reason is more than thirty years of government regulations and general interference with the power and energy industries that must answer to their investors while coping with “environmental” laws that slow or render impossible the provision of our energy needs.

A real energy policy is based on access to our nation’s vast deposits of affordable coal and the ability of the oil and gas industry to extract the vast reserves of oil and natural gas that exist.

Friedman thinks it’s stupid to drill for oil and natural gas, and mine our coal. He thinks it’s smart to throw money at windmills and solar panels. He thinks you’re stupid enough to agree with him.

The Obama/Osama October Surprises?

Obama’s October Surprise & Osama’s October Surprise!
By: J. D. Longstreet
********************

You might want t read the title to this piece again. Yep! It’s a double whammy! At least one of these “surprises” is a little difficult to believe. That would be the Obama October surprise.

See, there is this e-mail flitting around, out on the ether, that Obama has an October surprise up his sleeve. The rumor has it that sometime in the first week, or so, of October, Joe Biden, Obama’s Vice-Presidential candidate, will announce that he is stepping down, due to health reasons, and the rumor has it that Obama will immediately replace Biden with Hillary. For obvious reasons that has a lot of people concerned.

I don’t put much stock in it, though. I mean, step back and look closely at it and it looks awfully, well… dumb! But, then again, dumb things have been known to happen in political campaigns. The manipulation of voters would be just SO obvious, don’t you think?

My friend, and fellow blogger, Texas Fred, has written a piece about it that we recommend to you. You’ll find it at:

http://texasfred.net/archives/2318

If Senator Biden did, in fact, step down from the candidacy for Vice-President, due to health reasons, would he not also be compelled to step down from his candidacy as Senator from Delaware? Wouldn’t he owe that to his party, especially in Delaware? No, I’m just not buying into this one.

Now, on to the second October Surprise: The Osama October surprise. The New York Sun is running a story that Osama is planning a number of overseas operations timed to influence the November elections in the US.

It is reported that back during that weekend, which separated the Democratic and Republican conventions, our US military intelligence agencies, and civilian intelligence agencies, picked up a number of messages from Osama’s Al Qaeda leadership instructing local cells to be ready for “imminent instructions”. These messages have been reported to have been intercepted from multiple channels… some from couriers and some electronic messages, and some other unidentified methods of communication. You can read the article By Eli Lake, a staff reporter of the Sun, at:

http://www.nysun.com/foreign/spies-warn-that-al-qaeda-aims-for-october-surprise/86326

You may recall that Al Qaeda did something very like this in 2004, in Spain, by blowing up Madrid commuter trains just three days before the elections there and the Socialists Workers Party was voted into power in Spain. You may also recall the recorded messages Osama released the week of the US elections, also in 2004, in which he warned of dire consequences if President Bush was re-elected. And, of course, there is the suicide bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan, just a few days ago, which would tend to lend credence to Al Qaeda’s threats. The Sun reports that the lobby of that particular hotel has been used as a meeting place for CIA officers and Pakistanis who felt it not wise to be observed meeting at the US Embassy there in Islamabad.

My opinion on Al Qaeda’s threats is that should they carry them out, they will most certainly aid the McCain camp and not the Obama camp. But, then again, those people live in holes in the ground in some remote god forsaken wasteland far removed from the reality of the certain backlash such actions by them would cause and the danger it would bring to their continued existence.

That said… if I had to choose which of the two rumored October surprises to put my money on, it would be on the Osama October surprise. I just don’t buy the rumor of Biden stepping down. THAT would be a Godsend to the Republicans.

Bunker Busters On the Way to Israel... Soon!

USDOD Approves Sale of Bunker-Busters to Israel
Is Permission to overfly Iraq next?

By: J. D. Longstreet
******************************

Well, well, well. Who applied the pressure to the Pentagon to let Israel have these guided-missile” bombs? The last we heard, just a few days ago, was that the US was dragging it’s feet on the sale of these missiles to Israel. My, oh my, how things change… and quickly, too.

The sale to Israel is pending Congressional approval, but nobody thinks that will be a problem.

The JPost (Jerusalem Post) is reporting that Israel has ordered 1000 of these precision bunker busters. You’ll find the entire article at:

www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1221142470441&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FPrinter

Would you care to hazard a guess as to what use these GPS guided missiles will be used for? No, really?

The folks over at the Iran Almanac have taken notice. See the article at:

http://www.iranalmanac.com/news/lastnews.php?newsid=8484

See, Israel, has told the world if has no interest in taking a defensive “Wait and See” position on the promised attack by Iran, but instead will use preemption in order to stop an attack from Iran in the first place. You can see this report at:

www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1219913194872&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

Israel simply cannot survive an atomic “First Strike” by Iran. They just are not physically large enough to absorb it. So, they do not have what some seem to think is the luxury of sitting back and allowing themselves to be “hit” first in a display of “good sportsmanship”. Ain’t gonna happen. It cannot be allowed to happen.

So far as we have been able to determine the US has not yet granted Israel permission to use Iraqi airspace to reach Iran with their fighter/bomber aircraft. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened…it simply means we don’t know. When it does, I expect we will hear a howl go up from the new Iraqi government. Unless a bit of subterfuge is used… a little slight of hand, shall we say, we can expect those squeals of injured Iraqi pride to sound loud and clear and be amplified by the left wing media in this country and around the world… and you can bet, from the UN.

Some in Israel and in the US government are calling for more and stronger sanctions on Iran. Yeah, it’s the rose-colored glasses thing, again. People with their feet planted firmly on terra firma already know that more sanctions will not deter Iran. They are on what they see as a Holy Mission. That is the eradication of Israel… and… the United States, the little Satan and the BIG Satan! Sanctions will work on Iran about as well as they worked on Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. We all know how that eventually turned out. Iran’s Ahmadinejad said, just a few days ago: “Let them put sanctions on us. We are a very strong nation." The Iranian president went on to say that many around the world would come to Iran's defense in case of a US strike. (To Ahmadinejad, an Israeli attack is the same thing as an American attack.)

As I look back over the events of the past few weeks, I have to wonder if the Russian incursion into the sovereign state of Georgia keyed this move by the US to supply Israel with the missiles it would need to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities and thwart so much of the Russian supplied material both in Iran’s nuclear facilities and in Iran’s arsenal. Is the US prepared to give Russia a taste of it’s own medicine? Why, if Iran’s Russian arsenal holds up against Israeli/America tactics and armament as well as the Iraqi’s Russian supplied weapons did, well, that would be more humiliation on the Russian armament makers.

Ahhhh. International intrigue. Ain’t it grand?

Don't Panic! ... by Alan Caruba... UPDATED!!!

UPDATE: I’m deliberately leaving this article by Alan Caruba up for a second day, because we think it is an important piece and deserving of much exposure. Since this piece was written some things of note have taken place in the government having direct bearing on this whole mess. In our opinion the machinations of the Congress, in recent days, will only, in the long run, make things MUCH worse when “the next mess” is upon us. And rest assured… there will be a “next mess”.Alan has written another excellent piece concerning those “machinations” we mentioned above, and how the less than brilliant leadership in our government got us where we are today. We think you will find it insightful, as Mr. Caruba’s offerings always are, and, we urge you to traipse on over to:
http://factsnotfantasy.blogspot.com/2008/09/assigning-blame.html and give it a good reading … after, of course, you read Alan’s piece below.

DON’T PANIC!
By Alan Caruba

*********************

“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” was best known for the two words on its cover, “Don’t Panic!” Of course, when you have Vogons wandering around destroying entire planets to make way for galactic highways it’s hard to remain calm.

Anyone familiar with the “Hitchhiker” as a book or a movie would be well advised to consider its advice as the nation’s financial system deals, once again, with another greed-driven calamity.

Don’t panic! The nation has been through these financial shocks throughout its history. The one that historians point to, of course, is the Great Depression, but that occurred in part because then President Herbert Hoover did not want the federal government to get involved and matters just got worse. Hoover was an engineer by profession. Twice in the modern era engineers, Hoover and Carter, managed to make a muck of the nation’s economic well-being.

It was Franklin Roosevelt and his New Dealers that rather frantically tried every program they could think of to end the Great Depression, but it must be said that a nation rallying to the threats of World War II had much to do with the turnaround. Up until Pearl Harbor in 1941, the nation was struggling economically.

What came out of the Depression, however, was a matrix of government agencies whose purpose it was to avoid another Wall Street “crash” as occurred in 1929. Many of these agencies and New Deal programs linger on; some well beyond their practical use and some, such as the entitlement programs of Social Security and Medicare, verging on bankruptcy of their own. Government programs are rarely allowed to die.

Warnings about what is occurring to some large investment banks and the AIG, the insurer, have been circulating for a very long time. The mainstream media does not like to report such concerns. It is focused on today’s Dow Jones Average and the rise and fall of individual companies. You have to read publications like Business Week or The Economist to get the larger picture.

Since 1982, the nation has been through four major financial crises; five if you include the aftermath of 9/11.There was the savings-and-loan collapse, the dip the stock market took in 1987, the hedge fund implosion of the 1990s, and now the seizure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the two government-backed financial entities that underwrote the sub-prime mortgage mess.

In essence, greed drove the sub-prime mess because anyone with any sense at all knows you don’t loan money to people who are unlikely to repay it. Driven by misguided notions that low-income people have a right to own homes just like the middle class, the sub-prime mortgage program was doomed from the start.

Social parity or, to use one of Sen. Barack Obama’s favorite words, “fairness”, is not a substitute for sensible loan requirements. Indeed, it is usually not a good reason for any government program whereas personal responsibility is always a good idea.

The poor are, as often as not, poor for perfectly understandable reasons. They drop out of school. They have poor work habits. They prefer crime to a regular job. They engage in drugs and other bad habits. When you add in a middle class that has grown accustomed to easy credit and taking on too much unnecessary debt, you have the makings of a financial shockwave that spreads across the entire system.

Right now, some very big investment banks are in big trouble. The U.S. treasury is tapped out and, having swiftly learned the lesson of the Bear Sterns rescue, is saying you guys are on your own. Made bad loans? Have no idea what your assets actually represent? You call yourself bankers? Not for long.

Wall Street will be in a funk for a while, but most of us need to sit back and wait out the bloodletting that must inevitably follow. Bank deposits, to a certain level, are FDIC protected. Big, well-run banks like Bank of America just picked up Merrill Lynch at a bargain basement price and you can bet they believe the stock market will rebound at some point.

Why were the warnings ignored? For the same reason that people tend to ignore warnings. We don’t want to believe them.

Right now Americans are being warned that Congress must open up ANWR and the continental shelf to oil and natural gas exploration and drilling.

They are being warned that we need to build more coal-fired and nuclear plants to cope with the doubling of our need for electricity.

They are being warned that we need to encourage the oil industry to build more refineries.

They are being warned that the nation’s electrical grid needs upgrading.

You think the financial crisis is bad? Just wait until you cannot turn on the lights.

Vote for people who want to cut your taxes.

Vote for people who want to reduce the size of the federal government.

Vote for people who want to fix Social Security and Medicare.

Vote for people who want to drill here and drill now. And don’t vote for people who talk about “Big Oil” as if it is an evil institution instead of a vital national industry.

Vote for people who will eliminate the ethanol mandates.

Vote for people who will not support policies based on the United Nations-generated “global warming” hoax.

Vote for people who want to kill Islamic jihadists, not talk to them.

Vote as if your life and the future of the nation depend on it because it does.

And don’t panic!

WANTED: A Real Leader for America

WANTED: A Real Leader for America.
By: J. D. Longstreet
*****************************

There are lots of different kinds of conservatives in the US. Social conservatives, fiscal conservatives, political conservatives, religious conservatives, and the list goes on. That is why it is so difficult to define exactly what a conservative is and who is a true conservative. Me? Well, I am a conservative who can identify with everyone of the categories above… and then some.

As a conservative conservative… I am looking for a leader for America. I don’t mean another limp-wristed suck-up who’ll go, hat in hand, to our fair-weather friends in Europe, and the UN, seeking permission to take care of America’s business, no matter what that business for America happens to be. No! I want a leader who will act and act without worry or more than passing consideration for what the remainder of the world thinks. See, I don’t care what the rest of the world thinks!

I want a leader who will NOT cross the aisle and “group hug” the democrats and socialists! I want a leader who will run the government in spite of their protestations of gloom and doom and certain apocalypse. I want a leader who will put America first, above all else, and everyone else, and not try to save the planet as some in our government hallucinate about.

For instance, I want a leader that will go bomb the hell out of Iran and be done with it, and, when they recover, and begin, again, to build that A-bomb they are hell bent on constructing, bomb them again, and again, until they give up the idea… or die in the rubble of what used to be their country.

As a conservative I am sick to death of the namby-pamby “leaders” who wet themselves when a florescent light bulb pops in the capitol building. I have had it with leaders who want to run to the nearest negotiating table when an enemy of this country makes threats against my fellow citizens and me. I am nearly overcome with loathing for the appeasers and the talkers and the whiners and all the bitching and moaning, and hand wringing, and tree hugging, and pagan earth worship, and saving the planet by not using the resources God gave us to use.

I am nearly overcome by the total disconnect between the American governing families from the America Aristocracy who have no idea what the people they purportedly represent want. Since our founding, we have actually created an American nobility to rule America, and we must disassemble that artificial nobility and get them out of the seat of our government and return it to the common man where it should have been all along.

My kind of conservative does not want someone in charge (notice I did not say leader!) who must seek a consensus. Consensus is not leading! Leading is, well, LEADING. It means getting the hell out front and staying there while compelling others to follow. Leading is NOT bipartisanship! America was not built by bipartisanship. My kind of conservative wants a leader who knows, instinctively, that we are at war with the political left in this country… and… if we are to remain a free country and not a mirror image of the European socialist states we must continue to combat the left at every turn. It must be a “no quarter” conflict.

And THAT is why Sarah Palin has brought life back to the conservative movement in America. She seems to us the very person who will lead… and lead from the front. She seems to us to be ready to move into the Oval Office as a true leader, at a moment’s notice, and spit in the eye of the left wing naysayers while doing it. Of the four persons running for the two highest offices in the land Mrs. Palin seems to have the most testosterone of any of them. And we LIKE that!

My kind of conservative wants a true leader and not an apologist for Lenin and Marx and all the left wing socialists already in our government.

So, don’t try to convince me that America’s continued greatness depends on how many pip-squeak nations we bribe with foreign aid to love us! Don’t try to convince me that we have to be part of the United Nations, quite likely the most corrupt organization on the face of the earth, to guarantee peace on earth. Don’t try to convince me that duplicating the socialist statism of Europe is the road to greatness. Because you will fail!

I have lived through America’s climb to greatness beginning with the Second World War. I have seen the struggles, taken part in the struggles, and I know what it has cost us. And I, as a conservative, will not go quietly, silently, into the night while observing this country commit itself to mediocrity and, eventually, the ash heap of history, as another “has-been” nation which died by it’s own hand.

America was not built by our American ancestors to be a “second best” nation, an “also ran” nation. The people who built America built her from the ground up to lead the world. Our recent presidents have lost sight of that navigational point, a reference point left for them by those great American leaders who went before them. As American citizens we must refocus our government toward understanding America’s role in the world as “The Leader”. Nothing else is acceptable.

Human Life Begins at the Moment of Conception

Human Life Begins at Conception
By: J. D. Longstreet

**************************
We Americans have to re-evaluate the way we look upon abortion. With an average of 1.3 million babies a year, in America alone, being denied their God given right to life as a result of abortion, surely it has scarred the very soul of this great country.

Kathleen Parker has written an article entitled “Pope Pelosi at the Gate, Life with the Speaker”. In her insightful article she writes the following:

“In his new book, Embryo, Robert P. George, a professor of jurisprudence at Princeton and a member of the President’s Council on Bioethics and co-author Christopher Tollefsen, associate professor of philosophy at the University of South Carolina, left religion behind and set out to establish the embryo’s personhood by reviewing all the major scientific works on human embryogenesis and early intrauterine development. Included was American medicine’s most prominent human embryology text, The Developing Human, whose authors are not imprecise on the matter of life: “Human development begins at fertilization when a male gamete or sperm (spermatozoon) unites with a female gamete or oocyte (ovum) to produce a single cell — a zygote. This highly specialized, totipotent cell marked the beginning of each of us as a unique individual.” In other words, human life begins at conception”. (From an article by Kathleen Parker titled: “Pope Pelosi at the Gate, Life with the Speaker”.) You’ll find it at:

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MGRhNTY1M2VjYmIzNTQwODgxYzFhMGVlZmYyNmJmMDI=

The argument over abortion still rages. It has exceeded the boundaries of common sense. Abortion is the killing of another human being. It is homicide. To attempt to choose a time, any time, after conception, to kill a child is ludicrous to the “nth” degree. Killing is killing. Abortion is the killing of an innocent, defenseless, human being who poses no threat to his fellow human beings.

I have liberal friends who ask me how I can support capital punishment and yet be so solidly against abortion? The answer is simple. Innocence. INNOCENCE!

Add to the above my belief in the tenents of the Christian faith. It is extremely difficult for me to believe that a practicing Christian can support abortion. As a result, I totally agree with the some of the bishops of the Catholic Church expressing their belief that Catholics supporting abortion should not receive communion. I must tell you that as a pastor, preacher or priest, I would be inclined to not even offer communion to a member of my parish if I knew, to a certainty, that that person supported abortion.

Abortion is the shedding of innocent blood. By some people’s standards that makes me a “fanatic”. That’s fine. I can live with that.

What value do we Americans place on a human life? Not much apparently… at least, not as much as we used to. For instance… in 1996 there were 1.37 million abortions in the US. That’s 3,700 abortions a day. We have learned that women who refer to themselves as Protestants have 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women have for 31.3%, Jewish women have for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as "Born-again/Evangelical". You’ll find this and much more information on who is having abortions in the United States at “The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform” at:

http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html

I checked several sources and the average, seemingly agreed upon, for the number of abortions per year in the United States is 1.3 million. That is year after year. And we dare to call ourselves a “Christian” nation?

Can a society that kills it’s young endure… and if so… for how long? Had we not better consider the consequences to us as a people, indeed, as humans, of what has become, at least to some degree, infanticide?

The “killing of innocents”, which is what abortion is, is a gruesome sign of a decadent society, an evil society. It is the murder of the unborn child, unborn children. By allowing abortion in our nation are we not polluting the land with the blood of innocent unborn children? Can any of us, man, woman, or child, not be stained by this national abomination?

I had not intended to become “preachy” when writing this piece, but it is a difficult thing to remain dispassionate when speaking of taking the lives of unborn children.

It is my opinion that we Americans need, desperately, to step back and reevaluate our approach to abortion in this country. The cost (never allow yourself to believe that there isn’t a cost to a nation for killing her young) will be more than we can bear. And we are not prepared for it. Nobody is prepared. No country is ever prepared for the punishment for supporting the continuation of an abomination on its soil.

Slavery is oftimes referred to as the original sin of America. I submit to you, that as bad as slavery was, it cannot hold a candle to the evil of murdering 1.3 million unborn children every year in America.

There WILL be a reckoning. There always is. Are we, as a nation, as individuals, ready to suffer the consequences of the evil we are perpetrating every day on the innocent unborn children conceived and then stripped of the right to life granted them by God? Well, are we?

A Spotless Sun ... by Alan Caruba

A Spotless Sun
By Alan Caruba
***********************
There’s a wonderful irony in the fact that, back in the 1970s, the Greens were issuing warnings and even writing books about the coming Ice Age. They would abandon this issue, based in well-known and accepted solar science, in favor of a vast international hoax alleging man-made global warming.

As the global warming hoax begins to lose its power to influence public opinion and policy, the Greens are not likely to be heeded for a long time to come because they were right about an Ice Age and lying through their teeth about global warming.

Scientists and laymen who follow the Ice Age cycles have been warning that, if not a full-fledged Ice Age, at the very least a Little Ice Age comparable to one that lasted from 1300 to around 1850 is on its way

Amidst all the media coverage of Hurricane Gustav and the Republican Convention, a report in DailyTech.com was not likely to get much attention, but it forecast a very cold world in the years to come. The Earth has already started to cool and scientists date the change from 1998.

Headlined, “Drop in solar activity has potential effect for climate on Earth”, the news is that, for the first time in 100 years, “an entire month has passed without a single visible sunspot being noted.” The author, Michael Asher, noted that “The event is significant as many climatologists now believe solar magnetic activity—which determines the number of sunspots—is an influencing factor for climate on Earth.”

My friend, Robert W. Felix, wrote an excellent book on this titled “Not by Fire, but by Ice” ($15.00, Sugarhouse Publishing, softcover, second edition) which can be purchased from his website at IceAgeNow.com.

“We’re beginning to realize that Earth is a violent and dangerous place to live,” wrote Felix. “We’re beginning to realize that mass extinctions have been the rule, rather than the exception, for the 3.5 billion years that life has existed on Earth.”

Felix has a new book soon to be published that addresses magnetic reversals, another cyclical factor affecting life on Earth. “During the last 4.5 million years, at least six out of nine radiolarian extinctions occurred at magnetic reversals.” They appear to be a factor in the sudden emergence of new species so Darwin’s theory is likely to be reexamined.

As the DailyTech report notes, “In the past 1000 years, three previous such events, the Dalton, Maunder, and Sporer Minimums,” of reduced sunspot activity, “have all led to rapid cooling,” adding that, “For a society dependent on agriculture, cold is more damaging than heat. The growing season shortens, yields drop, and the occurrence of crop-destroying frosts increases.”

An article by William Livingston and Matthew Penn of the National Solar Observatory in Tucson, Arizona, “Sunspots May Vanish by 2015”, predicts that sunspots will disappear completely. “Such an event would not be unprecedented, since during a famous episode from 1645-1715, known as the Maunder Minimum…” That solar cycle “was shown to correspond with the reduced average global temperatures on the Earth.” In other words, it’s going to get COLD.

The Little Ice Age had an effect on history as you might imagine. The French Revolution is attributed to it insofar as the cost of bread rose as wheat crops failed. Riots followed. Similarly, Napoleon’s invasion of Russia met with defeat thanks to a winter that killed thousands of his troops. In America, it was reflected in the travails of Valley Forge.

Over at IceAgeNow.com, Felix posts the latest news from around the world that tells of anomalous events ranging from freak early snow storms to expanding glaciers. Soon enough, those living in the northern hemisphere will become more aware as winters lengthen and become more severe. After that, the scenarios grow quite serious.

Even the venerable Old Farmers Almanac is making news these days forecasting a far cooler winter and suggesting that the Earth is already in a cooling cycle.

No doubt some diehard Greens like Al Gore will continue to spout nonsense that the cold weather is due to global warming, but it has to do with the Sun that’s gone quiet. It’s not myth. It’s reality.

Democrats Demote Christ!

Democrats Demote Christ!
By: J. D. Longstreet
***********************

I have deliberately stayed away from the latest insult to Christians by the democrats until now. Frankly, in my opinion, as a subscriber to the Christian faith, it is blasphemy to refer to Christ as a “community organizer”.

Blasphemy is defined as: Irreverence toward something considered sacred or inviolable; The act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for any religion's deity or deities; The act of claiming the attributes of a deity.
(en.wiktionary.org/wiki/blasphemy)

Another source defines blasphemy as:

1. a. A contemptuous or profane act, utterance, or writing concerning God or a sacred entity.
b. The act of claiming for oneself the attributes and rights of God.

2. An irreverent or impious act, attitude, or utterance in regard to something considered inviolable or sacrosanct
(http://www.thefreedictionary.com/blasphemy )

The phrase, or “slogan”, if you will, the democrats are throwing around these days in which Christ is demoted from the position of “Son of God” to a mere “community organizer” fits, perfectly, the definition of blasphemy.

I cannot grasp the shallowness, or the insensitivity, of an organization attempting to use such a tactic to promote their candidate for President of the United States. The use of this “slogan” has incensed the Christian community in America and has dissolved the already thin veneer of “respect” for Christianity the Obama campaign has tried so desperately to prop up almost from day one of the campaign. That veneer has dropped away now and its absence has laid bare the utter contempt the Obama campaign has for Christians in America.

There is now no excuse for a Christian to cast a ballot in November in favor of Mr. Obama. None. In fact, if I were a democrat, I would not stop, after I got off work today, until I drove to my local Board of Elections office and changed my political registration from “democrat” to something else. My faith would not allow me to be a registered democrat.

No, I’m no theologian, but it doesn’t take the training of a theologian to recognize an “in your face insult to God”. And that is what this tactic is. It is raw human arrogance. Once again, it is man trying to be like God. It is the sin that brought man down, and had Satin tossed out of heaven and damned to an eternal Hell.

The Obama campaign should be aware; you cannot attack God with impunity. To equate Obama with Jesus Christ is the height of foolishness. The Scriptures, themselves, warn of us such people. For instance, this verse from the 24th chapter of the Book of Matthew in the New Testament:

“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”

Does this not sound familiar? When reading the verse of scripture above, did your mind not bring up a mental picture of Obama? How could it not?

And there is another verse of scripture from the same chapter of the Book of Matthew. It is the 24th verse. It reads:

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew (show) great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

Dare I ask what you thought of as you read that very instructive piece of scripture? It isn’t necessary.

Once again, the Christian faith is under attack, and this time… by one of the two major political parties in the United States.

Fellow Christians, the Obama campaign has done America a great service by dropping their façade of respect for the Christian faith. They have allowed us to see them for who they really are. It is now up to each of us to ask ourselves if we are to be true to the real Christ, the Son of God, and vote against this false prophet, or, are we going to denounce all that Christ has taught us through his life, his teachings, and yes, his death and resurrection, and vote in support of the people who demean the very name of Jesus Christ, and laugh at our faith as Christians? That is a powerful question and it is the question a Christian cannot walk away from… for it goes to the core of who we are as Christians. This Election Day will be a time for Christian Americans to either confess Christ, or deny Christ. The “true” Christian will know what he/she must do… and he/she will do it.

One thing is certain. If Christian voters vote the way their faith teaches this November, Mr. Obama will never see the inside of the Oval Office, except as an invited guest, and then, not very often.

Socialism and Obama.

Socialism and Obama.
By: J. D. Longstreet
************************

The Communist Party USA newspaper, the “People’s Weekly World”, has an editorial you need to read if you have any doubt about where Obama’s support is coming from. Actually, every American voter should read it.

The paper may be found online at:

http://www.pww.org/

The article to which we’d like to direct your attention can be found at:

“Eye on the Prize.”

You’ll find it at:

http://www.cpusa.org/article/articleview/975/1/27/

We have been telling you, since day one, that Obama is preaching socialism. If there was any doubt, at all, this should remove it.

The folks over at CNSNews.com have an excellent article about it. You’ll find it at:

http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=33971

This should come as no surprise to anyone. The democrat/socialists are currently in charge of the legislative branch of the US government. If they manage to get a socialist in the Oval Office, you can bet the Supreme Court is next. Then, what’s left? Think about it.

The big question American voters have been asking is: “Are we Americans ready for a “rookie” in the White House?” I submit to you (as have a number of other conservative sites) the question ought to be: “Are Americans ready for a socialist in the White House?”

Obama is the most liberal senator in the US Senate. We know this from his record. We should all understand, especially Americans supporting Obama, we are asking for socialist laws and socialist programs to be pushed through the Congress of the US if we have Obama in the Oval Office and a “veto-proof” Democratic Congress.

John Voight, an Academy Award-winning actor well known for his humanitarian work said the following in an op-ed piece titled: “My Concerns For America. Obama sowing socialist seeds in young people”. Mr. Voight wrote the piece recently for The Washington Times: “If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.” You can read the entire article at:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jul/28/voight/

Look, socialism does not work! Oh, it looks great on paper, but in practice it corrupts and corrodes and finally rots a country’s core until that country collapses in on itself. History has taught us that. But, if you have not been taught history and you are ignorant of the trail of collapsed socialist countries littering the landscape of human history then, yes, you may find socialism’s promises compelling. For those of us who have studied history, and (at my age), have lived history, it scares the hell out of us! We have watched our beloved country, over the past few years, drift ever closer to European State Socialism… and it is frightening.

Mr. Obama, and the democrat/socialists, currently in charge of our government, worship(s) the ideals of socialism. They talk of “fairness’ and “redistribution of the national wealth” (and of individual wealth), of government run “universal healthcare”, and bigger and bigger government wielding more and more power over individual’s lives. And then… there is Obama’s embrace of the United Nations.

Ever hear of something called The Global Poverty Act? It is Senate Bill s2433 introduced by Obama on December 7th, of 2007. The bill is supposed to compel (require) the President of the US to devise and implement strategies to promote the reduction of global poverty, and even eliminate extreme global poverty, and to promote the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day." A high sounding goal, right? Well, what will such a plan cost the US taxpayers? How about 845 billion US dollars (spread over thirteen years), over and above the foreign aid we already provide for struggling nations and peoples around the globe? And, even more troubling… where will that money come from? Of course, it will come from the pockets of you and me and the other US taxpayers. There is an excellent article on this by Lee Cary at the American Thinker at:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/02/the_global_candidate_proposes.html

I don’t know about you, but, to me, the Global Poverty Act sounds like just another way to buy friends. As Mr. Cary says: “In other words, other nations will like us better if we give them our money”.

In an article by Cliff Kincaid at the Accuracy in Media website titled: “Obama’s International Socialist Connections”, Mr. Kincaid says: “Obama's socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat… DSA describes itself as the largest socialist organization in the United States and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. The Socialist International (SI) has what is called "consultative status" with the United Nations. In other words, it works hand-in-glove with the world body.” You can read the entire article at:

http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obamas-international-socialist-connections

Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of this republic, is credited with having said: “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” Franklin was, of course, correct. When one looks at the decided drift of the US toward socialism and the Obama juggernaut pushing with all it’s might in that same direction, one must ask… have we reached the end of the US Republic?

The Veil of Ingratitude Separating the US and Europe

Europe Way Behind In Their Gratitude To The US.
By: J. D. Longstreet
**************************

The MsM was all “a-twitter” a few days ago about some poll, or other, in Europe, which demonstrated that Europeans wanted Obama to be the next President of the US. The results of the poll were reported all over the planet in a sort of surreal challenge to the “Fates in Charge of Elections” to make Obama the next US President because… the Europeans wish it to be so. Problem is… the folks in the US heard about that poll and they/we bristled.

To describe US national politics as “rough and tumble” is an understatement of gigantic proportions. Our national politics can and often does “get down and dirty”! But, and here’s the thing: It is OUR political process… and we do not like interlopers into our political arena no matter their reasoning… not even in jest.

Many Americans, if not most, have ancestral homes in Europe, as has my family. And… many of us lost loved ones fighting to liberate Europe from the clutches of despotism. So, yeah, we DO tend to get prickly when Europeans look down their aristocratic noses at the way we do things in this country.

Even now the US is attempting to secure Europe’s millions from rogue states with nuclear missiles by installing defensive missile sites in various European countries. Not to mention the fact that it is the US Navy that guarantees to keep the sea-lanes open so that European trading vessels can ply the waters around the globe in safety. Why, one would think Europe has become a permanent ward of the United States. And in many ways… it has.

See, here’s the thing: Americans love Europe. As I said above… for many of us it is our ancestral home. We want to see Europe grow and prosper and be safe. All we ask in return is a little gratitude. Not the bowing and scraping kind of gratitude … no. We DO expect the kind of gratitude in which Europe says “Thanks, guys! Let us know when we can return the favor!” That’s all.

Speaking of returning the favor, many of us feel Europe has fallen way behind in the “returning the favor” part of their expression of gratitude. Our cousins, in the UK, have nearly over extended themselves, on more than one occasion, to stand with the US… even when the cause is unpopular with their fellow Europeans. (Funny, but I hardly ever think of the UK as a part of Europe.) And we here in The States are grateful. See, with Great Britain and the US it is a mother/child thing.

We really don’t care for the insinuations of empire building by the US made by some noted Europeans. As an example note the following:

When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell (Former US Secretary of State) was asked by an official of a world wide religious denomination if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building' by George Bush. Powell answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.'

Here is another anecdote that demonstrates why Americans bristle at “put-downs” by Europeans:

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?'

And then there is this illustrious story about the language we share with a number of other countries around the globe:

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries.

Every one was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?'

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.'

And finally there is the story of an elderly gentleman of 83 years, arriving in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.

'You have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically.

The American senior admitted that he had been to France previously.

“Then you should know enough to have your passport ready,” stated the French Customs Officer.

The American said, ’’The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it.

'Impossible! Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France!'… said the indignant Frenchman.

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach, on D-Day in 1944, to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.'

Yes, these are anecdotal stories. But they point up a very important truth. Americans were, and are, willing to put their lives on the line and even sacrifice their lives for the people of Europe and will continue doing so well into the future. And we are willing to accept a quiet “Thank you” whenever it is offered and a pledge to stand beside us when the world is being threatened by fascism… as it is today. That’s all.

Democrat Deceptions about Oil ... by Alan Caruba

Democrat Deceptions about Oil
By Alan Caruba

************************

Lost amidst the many speeches delivered at the Democrat Convention was one by Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada. He is the Senate Majority Leader and, as such, controls the legislative agenda in that upper house of Congress. Harry Reid hates oil, but then, so does the Democrat Party.

The reason this nation is held hostage to other oil producing nations is that the Democrats, going back to President Jimmy Carter, have waged war on the American oil industry. This is especially important insofar as nations ruled by monarchies, corrupt, and communist governments, control 75% of the world’s oil.

Seldon B. Graham, Jr., the author of “Why Your Gasoline Prices Are High”, a petroleum engineer and attorney, recently noted that “It is no secret that Democrats are for renewable energy and are against U.S. oil and drilling for U.S. oil. But, Democrats conceal the fact that they have held this position for three decades. Democrats are not about to change their thirty year-old energy agenda.”

“Thirty years ago, Democrats selected ethanol as their renewable energy of choice. Their ethanol agenda has proven to be a total disaster. But, it is a well hidden disaster. Democrats continue to push ethanol as the renewable biofuel which will eliminate our dependence on foreign oil and our necessity to drill for US oil. It is surprising that Democrats have been able to fool so many Americans about ethanol for so long.”

Not only has the Democrat Party left us vulnerable to other oil producing nations, but its ethanol agenda has created vast imbalances in the world’s food supplies as corn is diverted from domestic use and as a factor in our agricultural exports.

If you had heard Sen. Reid, a man who has said, “Oil makes us sick. Coal makes us sick. Global warming makes us sick,” you would have heard him attack oil as the reason for all the woes of the world. “President Carter warned us about it in the 1970s when he proposed real solutions—conservation, fuel efficiency, and alternative fuels—to what he correctly named the ‘moral equivalent of war.’” President Carter, whose weak response to the taking of U.S. diplomats hostage by the Iranian Revolution led to the election of Ronald Reagan, was wrong then and he is wrong now.

So-called “clean energy”, wind and solar, provides barely one percent of the nation’s need for electrical power. It does so only because of the massive subsidies, like those for ethanol, the federal government provides, but Harry Reid could not resist characterizing the Bush administration as rife with “oil industry cronies.”

He made no reference, however, to the Democrat’s agriculture cronies. As Graham points out, “Democrats gave ethanol a 40¢ per gallon government subsidy in 1978. In 1980, Democrats gave insured loans to build ethanol plants.”

“Currently, the government subsidy is 51¢ per gallon through 2010. Last year, the government subsidy payout for ethanol was $3.3 Billion. The government subsidy will increase to $18.4 Billion in 2022. Ethanol is causing severe economic harm to the American economy, not even considering the increase in the cost of all food products made from corn.”

This is occurring as Americans struggle to find the money to fill their gas tanks and many worry about the price of oil to heat their homes this winter.

Sen. Reid praised the Democrat candidate for President, Barack Obama, saying, “He articulates a vision of energy independence that is comprehensive and based on sound science and sound policies…” This is a lie. No nation on Earth can be or is energy independent. Even Iran has to import gasoline because it lacks the refining capacity to provide it despite its own vast oil reserves.

America, too, needs more refineries, but the threat of “windfall profits” taxes has kept our oil industry from making the vast, billion-dollar investments necessary to build them and a matrix of environmental regulations has made it even more costly and difficult.

The Democrats and their choice for the next President have resisted permitting our own oil companies to drill for millions of barrels of known oil reserves in Alaska’s ANWR and have resisted lifting restrictions on exploration and extraction of oil on 85% of our nation’s continental shelf.

Instead Sen. Reid called for more wind power, geothermal, and solar power generation. He called for “smarter vehicles, more efficient and accessible mass transit, energy-efficient building codes…” These are the illusions the Democrats offer in contrast to realistic, pragmatic and vitally needed responses to our need for increased oil and natural gas production.

The Democrats offer the lie that such production would not impact the current price of oil or our needs for “ten years.” The mere mention of off-shore production caused the price of oil to drop when offered by Sen. McCain. The end of the ethanol debacle would lower the price of gas at the pump. Drill now. Drill here. That’s the answer.

Government Run Re-education Camps Promised by Obama

Obama’s Socialist Army?
Obama Vows Government Run Re-education Camps for America’s Youth!
By: J. D. Longstreet

***********************************

When this idea was first reported, months ago, it was quietly shifted off the pages of the newspapers and out of sight and hearing. Now it is back… and it is a burning issue… an issue that every American ought to be incensed about! When I first heard about it, I turned to my wife and said: “Obama’s Private Army!” She agreed. We had no idea, at the time, how right we were in our assessment of Obama’s so-called “Universal Voluntary Public Service” program.

This is a private army of socialist trained youth. Where have we seen this before??? Americans of my generation get chills up their spines just thinking about it. Now… to have the prospect of that very thing happening on American shores… is absolutely terrifying! And yet Obama is vowing to do just that!

Months ago, when I first became aware of it, Obama called it a "civilian national security force". He is reported to have said that this “force” would be as powerful, strong and well funded as the half-trillion dollar Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force. Here’s a quote from Obama’s speech in Colorado Springs back on July 2nd, 2008: The US "cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set." Obama went on to say: "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

The folks at Investor’s Business Daily say the real purpose of this “army’ is something quite different than that advertised. IBD says of the Obamas’ plans: “They plan to herd American youth into government-funded reeducation camps where they'll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of "social change." Think that is scary? Then real the entire article at:

http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=305420655186700

There is an article at World Net Daily, which is a MUST READ on this topic. It is titled: “Obama's training program described as 'Big Brother'.Critic says plan would herd 'American youth into government-funded re-education camps”. You’ll find this hair-raising article at:

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=74462

See, none of what Obama is proposing with his civilian national security force is new. Oh, no. We’ve seen it all before… prior to the Second World War.

This ought to scare you to death! The very fact that Obama would even propose such a thing ought to send you running into the streets to decry the adulation of a man promising to bring back those nightmares of the 1930’s and 1940’s.

We have warned of the reformulation of Militias within the US if Obama is elected. It was not just wool gathering on our part. The Militia units are coming as surely as sunrise follows the night. They will be denounced and called “kooks” and “rednecks” by the socialist media in the US. But, for a moment consider… if the media denounces them… oughten we to look into them for ourselves? The Mainstream Media has proven time and again they will support the leftists in the country, yea, the world, while making every effort to destroy those who stand for freedom and liberty. Could it be those guys running around in the forest, in their camouflage suits, know something we don’t?

We have warned of the socialist background of Obama from, virtually, day one of his campaign. We have warned that the mainstream media is so “in the tank” for Obama that they will not report objectively on the man, nor his plans, such as the plan denounced above.

This is very serious, and very scary stuff, dear reader. You need to look into this and decide for yourself if America is ready to toss the constitution and our capitalist society and bare our necks to the chains and yoke of socialist slavery. For that is exactly where we are headed if we don’t call a halt to this insanity of accepting socialism gradually, incrementally, a little at a time.

There are just a few weeks left to get to the truth. Will we? Not unless we, as individuals, dig it out for ourselves. As I have said before, you have the greatest library known to man at your fingertips… the Internet. Use it. Dig… and then dig some more… until you get the answers.

Our constitution and our country are too precious to lose through our own ignorance.

“Never again will I doom the earth because of man…”

“Never again will I doom the earth because of man…” By: God

The title above was taken from the first book of the Bible, Genesis, the 8th Chapter the 21st verse.

So here we are, man, taking credit for destroying the earth, which God, Himself has told us he will not allow.

I, along with a host of other “deniers”, have been screaming from the rooftops, Man-Made Global Warming doesn’t exist! It is the absolute height of arrogance for human beings to believe they have to power to destroy something God has made and placed his personal guarantee on. But, we’re doing it.

I want to refer you to an article titled: “What God Thinks About Anthropogenic Global Warming”. Kevin Roeten wrote it. You’ll find it at:

http://capitolhillcoffeehouse.com/more.php?id=5880_0_1_0_M

In his article, Mr. Roeten makes a statement and asks the following question: “Believing one has the power to affect an entire planet’s ecosystem is presumptuous at best and rashly arrogant at worst. God is either laughing at the sheer audacity of such an endeavor, or crying at the outcome of such egotistical actions. Are some of us telling God that man is in charge now?”

As a fellow who counts himself among the religious, I must tell you that much of the claims of the Man-Made Global Warming crowd, and the Climate Change crowd, stun me. I feel as if I should be dodging lighten bolts, hurled from on high, at the arrogant souls making such ludicrous claims. And yet they continue to do it… and worse, they have sold it to many of our mainline Christian churches. That is another reason I have washed my hands of Organized Religion.

Man-Made Climate Change not so… er… Man-Made?

Fred Singer an atmospheric and space physicist says it is the sun.

http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=34576

The “experts” tell us the science is “settled” on global warming. They tell us mankind pumping so much CO-2 into the atmosphere has, and is, causing it. Then they use the guilt trip they have imposed on fellow human beings to shame us into completely altering the way we live. It is the oldest con game in the book. And the peoples of the planet are falling for it.

I have heard the question asked, and even I have asked it, myself: How did Hitler manage to entice an entire nation to follow him into insanity? Actually, it is quite easy. Propaganda. As an old advertising man, I can tell you, it IS possible to sell anything if you package it correctly and if you create a desire in the consumer for it. If you lead the consumer, your target audience, to believe that all his neighbors are using and endorsing whatever it is you are selling, you have a successful sales campaign. Works every time. It worked for Hitler and it is working for the man-made global warming crowd. Except… the global warming hoaxers are much better than Hitler. He only had to con a single nation. They have taken on the world and they have had brilliant success.

So how have they done it? With emotion! Plain and simple. Human emotion. Hoaxsters play on human emotions, especially guilt. They do it because it works! Human emotion will run roughshod over human rationality every time. Think about it. The world is being destroyed and you are the cause of it! Guilt.

Let’s face it. Most of us do not understand the so-called science behind the claims of Man-made Global Warming. Most of us are not scientists. The fact that we don’t understand it brings a degree of shame. (Remember emotion) We drive our nice cars and trucks and live in our nice homes and wear our nice clothes and along comes someone who has a scientific formula, which we do not understand, to tell us that all these things we are enjoying are causing death and destruction to our fellowman… to our home… the earth. We are ashamed and we feel guilty about what, we are told, are our excesses. The guilt we feel drives us to bow to the demands of those pointing their fingers at us and crying “shame, shame”. Next thing you know, in order to feel good about ourselves, we are following the demands of the hoaxsters and have even joined the finger pointing group calling “shame, shame”: at the holdouts who HAVE bothered to take a second look, a RATIONAL look, at the claims made by the hoaxsters and found them far short on facts.

This entire Man-made Global Warming Hoax can be unveiled and destroyed if the public would only stop and think rationally for a few minutes.

It is up to each of us to look closely at the claims the hoaxsters are making and with a little fundamental research we can debunk it.

If you remember any of your grammar school and high school science you already know that the earth goes through heating and cooling periods. It is the way of nature. It is as natural as sunrise and sunset. And, most important, it happens to be true.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you do not understand something about the Man Made Global Warming message. Then check the answers for accuracy. You have the greatest library in history at your fingertips… the Internet.

As a religious man, I believe that God created this planet as a home for us. Man’s most heinous sin has always been his aspiration to be God, or to be LIKE God. This Man-Made Global Warming scheme is simply more evidence that man has not yet learned that he is not big enough TO BE God. Not yet. Not ever.

US Keeps Crosshairs on Iran

Iran still in the US Crosshairs.
By: J. D. Longstreet
****************************

How much more diplomacy with Iran before the Mad Mullahs slam Israel with a nuclear tipped missile?

Western European nations including Great Britain, France, and Germany, are once again trying to “talk” Iran out of continuing to enrich uranium to weapons grade. Once they have accomplished that, would anyone care to hazard a guess as to how long until they choose Israel as a target for a “test” fired missile?

The Mullahs are rather enjoying the “Jaw-Jaw” of the westerners. It makes them feel important. Much the same reason they feel it necessary to build nuclear weapons. That appear to have a gigantic inferiority complex and all the attention from the west strokes their HUGE egos into believing they are something more modern than a backwards 13th century, third-world nation state.

Once Iran has mounted those nuclear warheads on the missiles they already have, they can strike far outside the Middle East and deep into Europe. I still feel their first target will be Israel, simply because they know the minute they light up the first nuclear missile, the US will blast them back into the Stone Age. So they have to make that first shot count. It may be their last. Their deep-seated hatred for Israel will not allow them to chance losing an opportunity to visit death and destruction upon the Israelis.

Even more worrisome behavior by Iran is their rumored support of Hamas and Hezbollah in South America. If true, that puts them clearly inside the US sphere of influence. The presence of Hamas and Hezbollah in the “tri-border area” of South America (Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay) and, recently, in Venezuela have not gone unnoticed by US intelligence agencies. The US may find it necessary to clean up around it’s own doorstep in the near future. It is, indeed, an area that needs intense scrutiny.

Meanwhile, the Europeans seem to have learned nothing from two world wars, nothing. They are still, to this day, attempting to placate their adversaries by bowing and scraping and diplomatically “kissing-up”. They had better wake up and get a grasp on the situation. You see, their perennial protector is sorta busy. The US has its hands full, right now. The US is, as they say, otherwise occupied.

The point of all this rambling is to say simply, it’s time to stop talking with Iran and start doing. Take out a few of their nuclear installations, their enrichment plants, and such. That will get their attention. They do not believe the West has “the stones” for it, so they simply disregard all the diplomatic blather and continue their menacing ways. The quickest way to get them to the negotiating table is to slap them around a little.

It is trite to say, I know, but the Iranians understand power and the application of power. Sad to say, our European cousins, apparently, do not.

We have said for a very long time now that the US is in Iraq to stay. The Americans have constructed permanent military installations in Iraq and I do not see the US giving up this “forward” position for US ground troops in the Middle East. Besides, with our continued presence in Iraq, we have or friend (Israel) close… and our enemy (Iran) even closer!

AhMADinejad ... By Alan Caruba

AhMADinejad
By Alan Caruba

*********************

Mamoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, was bouncing off the walls in August. Hardly a day went by without his getting crazier and crazier about Zionism, Israel, and Jews in general. The last guy who talked like this was Adolf Hitler and he started World War Two.

Here’s just a sample of Ahmadinejad’s ravings:

“About 2,000 organized Zionists and 7,000 to 8,000 agents of Zionism have dragged the world into turmoil.” Last time I checked most of the turmoil is being generated by the likes of the Russians, al Qaeda murderers, Hezbollah, Hamas, and, oh yes, Iran.

I have no idea where Mamoud came up with his numbers, but it is safe to say that most citizens of Israel can be called Zionist insofar Zionism was a movement to reestablish Israel. I know a lot of Christians who proudly call themselves Zionists, so I think Mamoud is off by a couple of million.

“The era of the Zionists has come to an end, and I recommend that the leaders of Europe and the U.S. not submit to the Zionists. If they help them, they will be harmed.” Whoa! Anybody hear a threat to nuke Europe and the U.S. in this statement? I do. And I am thinking, “preemptive strike.”

“We will witness dismantling of the corrupt regime (Israel) in a very near future,” said Mamoud during World Mosque Week in August. He went on to say that Israel is “the main cause of all corruption and wickedness in the contemporary era.” He has likewise described Israel as “a dirty microbe”, “a wild animal”, and “the West’s scarecrow.”

Mamoud is not just talking about Israel. He’s really talking about Jews because, like a lot of Muslims, he has absorbed all the anti-Semitic teachings of the Koran. It’s worth noting that Mohammad also mocked Christianity and committed all Muslims to impose Islam on the world.

But Mamoud wasn’t finished. He went on to advise “writers in the West” to avoid referring to the Holocaust, the extermination of six million Jews by the Nazi regime, because that would be “tantamount to backing the identity of the Zionists.” Mamoud doesn’t believe the Holocaust ever happened or so he says.

“Soon the world will celebrate the elimination of the oppressing Zionism.”

So much for the wit and wisdom of Mamoud Ahmadinejad circa August 2008.

What one can swiftly discern from this selection of comments is that Ahmadinejad is doing a poor job of hinting that an attack on Israel is coming. He may just have in mind something similar to the Hezbollah attack out of Lebanon in July-August 2006 or a combined attack with Hamas.

Or he may be saying that, as soon as Iran can put nuclear warheads on top of missiles, it will not only destroy Israel, but threaten Europe as well.

I will leave the parsing and analysis of Ahmadinejad’s ravings to people who do this for a living. I am sure that August alone gave them cause to send a number of lively intelligence reports for inclusion in President Bush’s daily briefings.

For my part, though, I’m thinking the sooner Israel and/or the United States blows Iran’s nuclear facilities off the face of the Earth, the better.

We don’t need to invade Iran or occupy it. We just need to send a message that we have read the history of World War II and we don’t want to repeat the errors of the past by not believing what our enemies are saying.

I have no ill feelings for the people of Iran. They are descended from an ancient civilization and they deserve to be liberated from the insane ayatollahs that hold them captive to their primitive and barbaric interpretation of Islam.

What the world must rightly fear is the madness of Ahmadinejad and his cronies. He lives for the return of the mythical Twelfth Imam and he believes the only way that can be brought about is with the maximum spilling of blood.

Just because America, Europe, Israel and a host of other nations may want peace does not mean they will permitted to have it. When there’s a nut loose in the neighborhood, he needs to be removed from the streets.

Waiting on Hanna… or Ike… or Josephine… or Whomever!

Waiting on Hanna… or Ike… or Josephine… or Whomever!
by: J. D. Longstreet
*******************************

I hate this time of year! It’s hurricane season for those of us who live in Hurricane Alley, right on the Bulls-eye. Unlike the folks on the central Gulf Coast, who watch the southern horizon, we continually glance toward the eastern horizon. Two things of note come to us from the east: gorgeous sunrises… and devastating killer storms. We prefer the former, but, unfortunately, we get the latter, far too often, here in the geographic location known as the “Catcher’s Mitt” of the East Coast.

Hurricanes are a fact of life here in the coastal Carolinas. There is no escaping that fact. So… those of us who choose to make our homes here have to adapt to Mother Nature’s aggressive ways.

By July, every year, without fail, I begin checking my hurricane supplies.

Some years ago, I built what my family refers to as my “hurricane chest”. In that chest, I store such necessary items as: a camp stove with a number of propane gas cylinders, battery powered lanterns, battery powered radios with the National Weather Service’s radio frequencies, candles, knives, coffee pot (for brewing coffee the old fashioned way… on the camp stove), and other things like important instructions on how to purify contaminated water with common household chemicals, and, of course, all shapes and sizes and strength batteries. And a lot of other items I think I might need. What goes in the chest is determined by me… based on well over 40 years of experience surviving these brutal terrorists of nature.

I always check the hurricane chest first to see that everything is where it should be and to decide what, if anything, needs to be updated or replenished.

Next, I check to see that my oil lamps have plenty of fuel and that the wicks are trimmed and in good shape and replace those that are not. Then, I have to check out the five gallon “jerry” cans which will store clean tap water for drinking and what little cooking we will do for the several days we will be without electricity.

Then, I check out my ice chest. An ice chest is a must… two or more are even better. Next, it is time to make a list of foodstuffs we’ll need to get through about a week of a totally useless kitchen. The trick is to purchase canned food that will not spoil and can be eaten throughout the remainder of the year… should we be lucky enough not to need it.

One thing it is vitally important to check on is… the state of our prescription medications. Do we need refills? If so, get them without delay. Everything comes to a stand still when the power goes out, even pharmacies.

Now it is time to check out the battery powered TV, police band radios, handheld flashlights, including the wind-up emergency lights. We have to be sure the cell phones are fully charged and the auto-chargers are where they are supposed to be… and that they function.

Then it is time to move out of the house into the yard. All yard, patio and deck furniture must be secured, tired down, stored, and/or placed out of the wind. Swings hanging from chains must be taken down and stored. Those giant garbage containers on wheels must also be secured and moved to place out of the wind.

Some folks board up their windows and glass storm doors. Most of us just tape them up to control the shattering and lessen the chance of their becoming a lethal wind-borne projectile.

And then we come to the rolling stock… the cars and trucks. We have to top off the gas tanks of the vehicles… just in case we have to make a run for it. Gas pumps don’t work without electricity.

If you have a portable generator then you must be sure you have ample fuel to last at least a week.

Finally, we check out our first aid supplies.

So, now we can stand back, take a breather, and run through all this stuff again, in our minds, to see what we have forgotten, because there is always something.

Please note: The list of “to-do things”, above, changes with every home. For instance, if you have a boat, or boats, you must get them out of the water and into safe storage.

If we have planned correctly, and if we have taken all the precautions we can and equipped ourselves as best we can, then all we can do now is hunker down and wait it out.

There is only so much we can do. After that… we are completely at the mercy of Mother Nature.

As I write, there are three storms approaching the eastern coast of the US. Hanna is first in line, and due to hit somewhere in our vicinity within 24 hours, or less. Then right behind her is a powerful storm named IKE, already a CAT-4 storm, and the tiny Josephine follows IKE. And we are just reaching the peak of the hurricane season.

These storms are so unpredictable that one dares not take them casually. So, we don’t. We plan for the worst and hope for the best.

So, over the next few days, I expect to be publishing less, as the computer requires electricity. When the power comes back… so will I.

Perfection Is Not Required To Be A Christian… Nor A Republican

Perfection Is Not Required To Be A Christian… Nor A Republican
By: J. D. Longstreet
*************************

The Mainstream Media’s attempt to assault and erode evangelical Christian support of Sarah Palin, the GOP Vice Presidential candidate is going to backfire on them.

Since last weekend there has been a “media frenzy” over the admission of the McCain Campaign that Gov. Palin has a seventeen year old, unmarried daughter, five months pregnant.

First of all, it is wise to understand that the mainstream media in the US is the voice of the Democratic Party. You have to keep that in mind to be able to interpret what they disseminate as “news”… especially during a campaign season. Of course, their leftist bias is quite obvious at any other season as well.

The MSM is so out of touch with real Americans, especially real Americans who subscribe to the Christian faith… and to parse it even more… real Americans who subscribe to the evangelical brand of the Christian faith, that they haven’t a clue that their attack on Sarah Palin and her family is actually solidifying Christian support of the Palins, not eroding it.

If the MsM had even the least understanding of the Christian faith, especially the Evangelical Christian faith, they would know that perfection is not required to be a Christian. Making the attempt IS required, however.

The one tenant of the evangelical Christian faith that runs through their faith, as a binding thread, is that piece of scripture that says: “For ALL have sinned and fallen short …”. It is the commonality of ALL Christians. All Christians were sinners before becoming Christians and, guess what… they remain sinners afterwards! The difference is “forgiveness” of those sins, AND, the sinner’s never-ending quest to live a life as nearly in accordance to the teachings of Christ as a human being, with all the frailties of humanity can ever hope for.

The hallmark of the evangelical Christian is their ability to instantly forgive the transgressions of others upon the transgressor recognizing his/her sins, confessing them, and seeking forgiveness. The arms of the evangelical church are flung wide open to accept, support, and even nurture those fellow “imperfect” Christians who have “fallen short”. It is a hallmark of the faith. To condemn the transgressor as somehow, worse than the rest of us Christians, is nothing short of hypocrisy… and hypocrisy is frowned upon as an arch sin, if there were, indeed, such a thing.

But you see, the Leftists and the MsM, which of course, is one and the same thing, have bought into their Hollywood version of Evangelical Christianity and they have come to actually believe their version is the true version. It, apparently, has never crossed their minds that they could be wrong! On a scale of one to ten, with ten being the worse degree of “wrongness”, then the MsM and the Democratic Party would be stuck on ten!

There is nothing quite so amusing as to watch the finger pointing of the left as it tries, vainly, to justify it’s own short comings by pointing to the short comings of others. They have made it into a fine art. Having done so, they are totally unaware that it portrays them as kindergarten children seeking the acceptance of the adult in charge. But, finding an adult amongst the leftists is a near impossible task. They are few and far between. The end result is the increasing degree of pathos on the left. They have become, absolutely, pathetic.

How long will it take for the Leftists to recognize their attack on the Palin family is actually helping the McCain camp? Well, that is open to question. As long as their vicious attacks continue, though, support for Gov. Palin will continue to grow and solidify among evangelical Christians, religious conservatives, and even the social conservatives of the Republican Party.

The Left, meaning the Democratic Party, and, of course, the Mainstream Media, have all made a devastating error in judgment by assaulting the Palins. For in doing so, they have assured their own elitism, locked-in their self-perceived perfection, and validated what all us “bumpkins” out here in flyover country already knew… and that is… there is none quite so fallible as those who perceive themselves infallible.

So, while the evangelical community enfolds the Palins in their loving, forgiving, and supporting arms, we leave the MSM on the sidelines of this life to sneer and point fingers and catcall in the vain hope of drawing our attention away from their mistake riddled, pitiful existence, as morality judges. They have become so captivated by their passion, that in their zeal they have forgotten their very own mantra: Do Not Judge”!

The scriptures teach us to “Judge not, lest ye be judged”. The Great Teacher, Himself, the Rabbi, the Christ, also told us “Ye shall know a tree by the fruit it bares.” In other words, “recognizing by simple observation” is NOT judging. Therefore, this humble scribe, in order to cover his bases, asks your forgiveness for observing that the MsM is, once again, acting as the elitist hypocrites we already know them to be. That is, of course, a simple observation on my part. That said… alas, we must forgive them, too.

Playing God with “Endangered” Species ... by Alan Caruba

Playing God with “Endangered” Species
By Alan Caruba

********************

In mid-August Barack Obama had this to say about a White House decision regarding the Endangered Species Act: “After over 30 years of successfully protecting our nation’s most endangered wildlife like the bald eagle, we should be looking for ways to improve it, not weaken it.”

The White House executive order would eliminate the need for the advice of government scientists and permit the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of the Department of the Interior and NOAA Fisheries of the Department of Commerce to determine whether to list or de-list an alleged endangered or threatened species.

Here’s an example why this decision was issued. In an effort to ensure that no exploration or drilling for oil could occur anywhere in the habitat of the polar bear, this species was put forward for listing as “endangered” even though its population has been growing steadily since the 1950s.

The reason cited, however, involved the projection of melting sea ice over the course of the next fifty years resulting from global warming. That’s right. A perfectly fine population of polar bears that have been around for millions of years is deemed “endangered” based on computer models for something that is not happening. As Interior Secretary Dick Kempthorne delicately put it, “It is not possible to draw a link between greenhouse gas emissions and distant observations of impacts on species.”

Well, no. It is possible if you are a government scientist with lots of time on your hands, a commitment to the idiotic and discredited notion of global warming, and a need to justify your existence. Or dare I say your survival?

The Earth is not warming. It has been cooling for a decade and many scientists have concluded that the Earth is heading into either another mini-Ice Age or a full-scale one that will pretty much ruin everyone’s plans for anywhere between the next fifty or few thousand years.

Let’s get to the nitty-gritty of the Endangered Species Act. Originally adopted in 1973, the framers of the Act wanted to protect species believed to be on the brink of extinction. This is a noble idea, but 99% of all species that have existed on Earth are extinct. At some point or other, Nature steps in to kill them off. This is why there are no dinosaurs around except in Steven Speilberg movies and animated documentaries.

Despite ample evidence that the Act is a great waste of time and money, Congress has been funding the ESA ever since the first 109 species were listed.

According to the National Endangered Species Act Reform Coalition, these days there are approximately 1,300 species on the list with another 250 considered as “candidates” for listing and another nearly 4,000 species designated as “Species of Concern.”

The ESA is testimony to the way stupid legislation, once it is passed, not only continues, but expands to ensure that government jobs and power do the same.

The website of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services provides six pages of small print listings of species put forth as “threatened” or “endangered.” You will find 120 were deemed to lack standing because, as often as not, there was “insufficient data” to demonstrate any threat existed or it was determined that there were plenty of the critters. Others were believed to have gone extinct just as Nature intended.

Another USFWS page lists 21 species as “recovered” since 1978 and 9 as “extinct.” In order words, over its glorious 30 year history, the Act claims justification for the expenditure of millions of taxpayer dollars for less than one species per year of its existence. The same page lists 16 species that should never have been listed in the first place as lacking sufficient data and thus “de-listed.”

There is probably no way of knowing how many thousands of hours were wasted adjudicating these proposed listings, but if your job as a government scientist depends on such foolishness, you can bet it cost the taxpayers a bundle.

Here’s the kicker. The ESA officially expired on October 1, 1992. Congress has continued to fund it for sixteen years!

This is legislation that Sen. Obama claims should continue despite an abysmal record of performance and lacking any rational justification for its existence. Where is it written in the U.S. Constitution that the federal government should undertake to save any species?

Other than preserving the Bald Eagle from idiot hunters, what purpose was served in saving tree frogs, shrews, doves, and other species from presumed extinction?

The intended consequences of the Endangered Species Act have been the delay or loss of needed dams, highways, hospitals, and entire subdivisions of new housing for the nation’s growing human population. When some “concerned” environmental group secures a listing of some obscure species, the process mandated by the ESA ensures that progress will slow or defeat any a worthy project that would benefit humans.

The most endangered thing about the ESA is common sense and the humility to stand aside and let Nature do what it has done for millennia.

Banning the US Flag from Public Schools!

Banning the US Flag from Public Schools!
By: J. D. Longstreet

*************************
I must tell you, in the spirit of “full disclosure”, that I am a Southern American. My roots go back to the seventeen hundreds in the Carolinas. What you are about to read is a Southerner speaking, from the heart, about my people, my family, and my ancestors.

Every so often the frustration of listening to and/or reading an ill-informed commentary concerning the Southern American, and our history, which I KNOW is based on myth, untruths, and in some cases, just plain ignorance of our rich culture and heritage just causes my cup to run over and I take pen in hand and make an attempt to counter the misinformation. This is one of those times.

My intent is not to cause anger in any reader. That would be counter productive. Consider this piece a “mirror”, if you will, in which Americans can see reflected not just what appears on the surface, but that which lies beneath. Please read on:

If you must ban a flag from American schools for racist connotations and for flying above slavery then you must ban the American flag! Yes, Ole Glory! The US flag, the Stars and Stripes, flew above slavery for 256 years. The Confederate Battle Flag NEVER flew over slavery. It was a battlefield emblem, not a national flag of the Confederacy… and was never recognized by the South as a national flag. You can credit Hollywood for that image.

Our Public Schools should be ashamed of themselves for not teaching American students the true history of this nation, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Teach it all!

Rest assured, there will come a time, in the near future, when someone will sue to have the US flag removed from the flagpoles in front of US public schools. Then we will learn why the Confederate Battle Flag has been singled out as an emblem of slavery (even though it was not) and not the US flag, which WAS the flag of slavery, gets a pass. If you cannot wait ‘til that lawsuit to find out, just recall this: the victors in any war get to write the history books about that war. Understand, Southern Americans feel the US government, (read the northern states) are still punishing the states of the Old Confederacy for having the intestinal fortitude to pull out of a government gone bad and create a government of their own, which would rule it’s people by the laws of the original constitution handed down by the founders of this country.

The US, today, suffers under the rule of a nearly omnipotent federal government, unlike anything the founding fathers dreamed of… in their worst nightmares. The Southern states that made up the Old Confederacy saw it coming, did not want to be a part of it, and pulled out. We Southerners are a part of the US today, ONLY because we were forced, at the point of a northern bayonet, to rejoin the Union. If we dare protest the abuse of our ancestral history, as Southerners, we are immediately slapped down. The South today has garrisons of US troops permanently situated all over our sacred soil. Like the Romans of ancient times the federal government is taking no chances!

Southerners are, in fact, a different breed of American. Our ancestors came here from a different part of Europe. We are Celts, for the most part. We chafe under the rule of a powerful central government, as did our Celtic ancestors in Europe under the rule of Rome.

The continual repression of the Southern people is, at some point, going to backfire, as it did in 1861, all over again. More and more Confederate Battle Flags are going up on Southern homes, on skyscraping flagpoles along Interstate highways, over Confederate monuments, on clothing, on vehicles, on nearly everything. You see… we WILL have our battlefield emblem, the Cross of St. Andrew, as our rallying point. It is a reminder to the People of the South that even though the Confederate government surrendered; the people of the South did not! The Confederate soldiers went home, and did not continue the fight, only … ONLY… because Gen. Robert E. Lee asked them to do so. Lee later said that had he known the North was going to do what it did to the South, after the war, during the so called “Reconstruction period”, he would NEVER have surrendered and would have, instead, died with his sword in his hand.

Every time a court rules against the display of a Confederate Battle Flag it stokes the fires of latent southern anger. Those fires are raging now nearly as high as they were in 1860. More and more Southerners are taking steps to ensure that Southern history is NOT buried and not forgotten. There will be more and more challenges to what is so obviously a violation of the Constitution’s First Amendment guarantee of free speech.

In the spirit of equality for all, we must take down the US flag from all public schools. It is the flag of slavery… and, you have probably heard… the Ku Klux Klan uses it, too. We cannot allow such a reminder of racism and bigotry, and even genocide (reference to America’s genocide against Native Americans) to be on display at a place our youngsters are sent for an education. Oh, NO!

Do you see where this is going? Those of you who insist on defaming our beloved emblem, the Confederate Battle Flag, and the judicial system’s insistence on removing it from public display, even in honor of one’s ancestry, have begun something that is going to grow, exponentially, over the coming years until it consumes this nation. You cannot repress people, especially Southern people, for long. Our temperament will not allow us to live that way. Keep your eye on Dixie in the coming years as pride in our heritage, pride in our ability to come back against all odds, and a yearning for the freedom the original US constitution guaranteed us, spurs Southerners to take charge of their destiny once again.

When you insult us, when you insult the flag of our beloved Confederate soldiers, it only makes us more determined, more sure of our self… and our cause.

No, we have not forgotten, nor will we ever forget.

Israel to Strike Iran Without US Help?

Will Israel Strike Iran Without US Aid?
By: J. D. Longstreet
******************************

“Israel will not agree to allow Iran to achieve nuclear weapons and will take whatever means are necessary to prevent Teheran from achieving its nuclear goals, the government recently decided in a special discussion.” (From: The Israeli Insider)

It now appears that no matter what the US decides about Iran, Israel has decided to act. It will be a separate ISRAELI attack, reports say an “Independent military strike”, for which plans are now in “high gear’. You can read the details at the “Israeli Insider” here:
http://israelinsider.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=2018399%3ABlogPost%3A4649

Reports tell us that both the McCain Camp and the Obama Camp have been advised of Israel’s decision. The time frame for such an attack is said to be within 18 to 24 months.

It seems to us that Israel has no other choice. Iran has set a course for self-destruction and refuses to be deterred by any actions, such as sanctions, in her all out drive to manufacture an Atomic Bomb.

Without US help with air borne tankers and such, Israeli pilots, making the sortie on Iran, may be making a suicide run without enough fuel to return to their home bases in Israel. Rest assured the Israeli pilots know this. It is a sacrifice they, apparently, are ready to make if it will secure their homeland Israel… even if only for a few short years.

It is reported that Israel has asked the US for special munitions to destroy the underground nuclear facilities of the Iranians. These are munitions that only the US can supply, and… the US has refused those specialty weapons. You can read the article for yourself at:

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1010938.html

But, don’t count the Israelis out. They have some of the brightest minds on the globe and it wouldn’t surprise me if, by the time the Israeli fighter-bombers launch toward Iran, they were laden with Israeli made “bunker busters” of their own.

The Israeli-Iranian conflict has been brewing for a very long time and in our opinion, the US should step aside and allow Israel to “take care of business”. Israel cannot absorb a nuclear attack on their home soil and survive. They know that. Their backs are against the wall and they have no intention of cowering like frightened sheep.

As at Belshazzar’s Feast, the Handwriting is on the Wall, this time, for the Iranians. The words written by that miraculous finger of that moving hand were: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN". Interpreted they mean: “God has numbered your days. You have been weighed in the scales and found wanting”. The interpretation went on to say that that very night Belshazzar’s kingdom would be taken away and divided among his enemies. That same night Belshazzar’s body lay dead upon the cold floor of what had been, a few hours earlier, his palace.

The warnings are there, for Iran, just as plainly written as the moving finger wrote the warning to Belshazzar. Sadly, I have no doubt the leaders of Iran will react in the same arrogant manner, as did Belshazzar, and succumb to the same end as the once great king. For God, Himself, made Belshazzar another promise. He said: ”Thou fool. This night thy soul will be required of thee.” Soon, thereafter, Belshazzar’s soul had departed his lifeless body.

The warning signs are there for Iran. They neglect to heed them at their own peril.
